    Thanks for sharing, and though I am but a complete novice at all this stuff, necessity has forced me to rapidly learn as much as a I can.
    I suspect that the rabbit ear numbers being 'better' but with poorer performance is due to them picking up a 'better' placed cell tower but with poorer download capability.
    Here in Mid Wales valleys, I have put up with my poor download speeds (3-5mbits) for over 12 months, because the few houses within a 5 mile radius all fair worse (many with no signal at all)
    I had suspected for a long time that the tower the router was using was down the valley somewhere and the signal bouncing off hills.
    I tried a Poynting Omni antenna but with little to no help
    I went back to the rabbit ears with the router on the one bedroom window board that had reception.
    After a few months of frustrating slow speeds again, I purchased the Poynting directional 4g A0002. With little understanding, I simply kept moving the antenna direction etc till I saw improvements (5-8mbits). I then bought the Huawei B535 with 4g+ capability ..and again saw some improvements (7-10mbits)
    However, using cellmapper and heywhatsthatpath, I actually found that there are 3 possible towers with a clear line of sight (nearest being 12km and furthest 25km)
    Using speed test app, I could identify which tower was being used.
    I actually rode out to the tower the TPLink was connecting to for the last year and when sat within metres of the thing the download speeds on on my Samsung S20 were pretty abysmal
    So then I looked for any towers I can see down the valley on all the UK networks and bought 1 month data sims to test them (EE, 02, Vodafone, 3)
    What I found was that the RSRP numbers etc do not always match the actual download performance.
    To sum up, Vodafones tower that is nearly 16 miles away and has terrible RSRP numbers etc, but 3 times the download speeds.
    The performance gains are noticeable in all uses, whether streaming BBC iplayer, Netflix et al, or just general browsing.
    I am now considering the procurement of Poyntings LPDA antenna,

    Glad you came to the realization that you didn't need to be "line of sight" to a tower to use a directional antenna. I watched your other video from 8 months ago and was reading through the comments before commenting, line of sight is not necessary for using directional antennas. Think about it... if you needed line of sight, you wouldn't have gotten a signal with an omni. Line of sight becomes an issue when you get into microwaves (2.4GHz) because the wavelength (12.49cm) is the same size as the leaves on the trees and the signal is attenuated by the leaves because they contain water. Water is a horrible conductor and absorbs microwaves. This is also why you get rain fade on satellite TV which uses the Ku frequency band (12 Ghz - 2.49cm).
    Also, that omni you tried was cheap Chinese mislabeled junk. Any time an antenna says it does 2 frequencies so far apart, it can't be good at either. i.e 900mhz & 2.4Ghz

    Thanks for the video and the tests! It comes weird to me as you mentioned not being in the LOS area, so omnidirectional (OD) is supposed to be good in this case. However, since this OD is 12dBI only, it could have been more helpful. In contrast, the YAGI-type is the best choice, considering knowing at least the approximate location of the Telecom tower.
    It would also be interesting to compare an LPDA-type antenna vs. YAGI regarding their working parameters.

      A quick search on YAGI v LPDA suggests that LPDA is better. With these things, you have to try it to really know for sure. But I will try a LPDA next time I want to set this up. Although, my home made YAGI works very well already.

    Interesting, so rsrp doesn't necessarily represent what speeds you will get, my rsrp is in the low 80's and 70's as well so I just assumed my limitation is the congestion (or over selling) of the tower. Do you know if your ping is consistently lower also?

    When you read the information for the antennas you could buy th3 ones you showed pictures of it said the antennas should be roughly 60cm apart, that is certainly a lot closer than 60cm. Perhaps has something to do with those values being poor. I don't know anything about antennas btw.

    Is in your opinion worth buying these if I already get an avg of 50-60 mbps (around 100-130mbps at night) down and 40-50 mbps up? I have a really clear line of sight, about 2km away.

      Y jave try a D-link dwr921. Max 50mb download. Whit antenas 57mb, batt worck bether AIRBOX orange decoded to 70mb alshow ahve slot for antenas. Batt y whoant too try whit a amplifier signal 2100mh,y have try the 1800mh end worck slower 30mb😂. Whay im pissoff tahat my phon have 240mb . Dont cgnow what router too bay?tlink mr200?or this your feom video?

    Now the six million dollar question, how do you know the MR600 is in the MIMO mode (this is negotiated between the cell tower and the modem). I too have a MR600 V2 model and can select my bands .... cheers Paul

    Hi are you in the UK? Are these directional? Did you have to point it towards the nearest mast?

      Its better if you do point it directly. But since its inside the roof, the signal is bouncing everywhere so it's more unpredictable. You just try it out.

      Late afternoons become congested on all networks. EE is the best network, but pricey. I used it for 2 years and it was adequate. ua-cam.com/video/H58fxea2kaA/v-deo.html

    Thanks for sharing this stuff, will investigate further.
    Mid Wales, rural UK, in the valleys, no clear line of sight, a single cell mast signal bouncing up the valley (i assume), results in 3-5Mbs normal hours and 15-20Mbs unsocialable hours.
    Only a single spot in the house provides the above.
    Within the 2 acres of land and a Poynting directional antenna on a hieght variable pole and the modem in tow (so not a feasible option for day to day wet Wales) I can sometimes see 30mbs, but I dont think the Poynting makes that much difference for me.
    I suspect that the the current location for the tplink modem is about as good as it gets except for the glass.
    I'll try this sort of design from Amazon but my hopes are not high.

    Is there any point in using cross polarised antennae when connecting to the mobile network base station?
    I mean, base station's signal polarisation won't change very often, you find a right one and go with it, right?
    Or am I missing something?

      You want MIMO configuration, which is polarized.

    Hello..how far away are you from cell tower? I am getting about 25 mbps download on average, but early in the morning it goes up to 80mbps. My connection is lte.

      ~1.5 km. My bandwidth is better in early morning hours also. Less competition.

      My case is similar to yours.. I am 2km away. Outside signal strength is strong but inside poor. I think i will stick to the yagi antenna.

      you can try. It might work ok. For me its better using two.
