This just might be the best sewing tutorial I have ever seen. Just the right amount and speed of description and demonstration and very little chatter. No flipping and pointing at the fabric 20 times. My niece asked me to make some pot holders out of a fabric that she likes for her new apartment. I want to include a heart shaped one, since Valentine's Day is coming up. I'm so glad I took the time to find just the right pattern and demo. Oh, and I have been sewing for decades and never knew that glue sticks would work in place of pinning and basting. What a game changer!

I am heading into my creative space right now and going to give this pattern a try doing it both ways. We used your method of doing the corn on the cob in the microwave last weekend and my youngest daughter and everyone was like "Lisa's a genius!" so much easier with both cooking and the mess is sooo much less! Thank you once again for always giving us so much inspiration!

I have made this kind of hotpad, but from a different pattern that I have had for about fifteen years. I am going to try the second method. Cooking the corn your way is better than mine. I would clean the corn completely, put them on a plate with a wet towel and put in microwave.

I love cooking corn in the microwave. If I don't have corn with the husk on it I will wrap it in parchment paper. Corn tastes so much sweeter cooked this way.
