Pac-Man Plus! One of my all time favorites. Very Eclectic and obscure but an incredibly challenging game. I first saw it at a camp ground in Washington State near the mouth of the Columbia river. I fell in love with it there and met an older boy who had mastered a pattern for it. He drew the pattern out for me on a napkin and I memorized it! I recently found one in the back of a storage unit and acquired it for my collection. Fabulous game. My high score is 250k ish.
It's such a cool game but like you said so challenging!
I do remember seeing for it the first time. Noticing that it was NEW. Playing it. And never wanting to play it again.

Playing pacman plus again, honestly may be one of my favorite versions of pacman considering that it's easy to score points in since the "fruits" actually kind of function like the pink dots from pac-mania in a sense where eating a ghost is worth double of their original point amount. I like the twists this version has and well I do like pacman and pac-mania and other pacman games, pacman plus is a neat version of a classic

if you notice on the Marquee those drawings are from the Pac-Man cartoon created by Hanna Barbera showing in 1982 and red up until 1984 plus I found out that ms-pac-man made it to Japan but it was on August 6th of 1994

I have this game on my Arcade 1Up 40th Anniversary Namco Pac Man cabinet.I kinda ignored this game until recently and man, it really is such a great version of Pac Man!! Its so fun and quirky. The maze disappears on some levels when you eat a power pellet. My 5 y/o son bugs out on this gem of a game. Dad still has the high score, though! ; ) Thanks for the vid, brother!

While you're eating pellets Pac Man will be a bit slower and the ghost will catch you. If you're on a clear part of the board you can slightly outrun them.
I never knew that, but I saw Billy Mitchel playing his perfect game of Pac-Man on twitch a couple weeks ago and he mentioned that.
I hated playing Pac-Man so frustrating in the 80s but I enjoyed your video and i understand the need to preserve this classic game cabinet

This started the Bad Blood between Namco and Midway back in 1982 and Namco continue to license their games to Bally Midway until Pac land in 1984 but this this game was super popular and they made this to not have players to patterns this came out before super Pac-Man and you can see namco's name all the Marquee on the 100 episode of starrcade they had all the Pac-Man games out including Miss Pac-Man in a super Pac-Man cabinet this was there and the last time they show super Pac-Man game in its own cabinet plus they got snake pit on there and I saw this cabinet in person not with the Pac-Man plus Marquee and game

I have this Pac-man on Arcade1up and it's mad hard.
Pacman Plus was the official and intended successor to Pacman but got totally overshadowed by Ms. Pacman. I love both games but much prefer Plus because it's far more challenging and rewarding

On the third screen of Pac-Man plus there is a Peapod and if he eats at the maze turns invisible for a second and one eating the power pill the ghost have apple stems on their head and the prizes stay the same well they are different by one of the prizes is still the galaxian flagship

Pacman. Now there's a classic. Believe it or not I have 3 cabinets of this. Two of them are those toy shelf ones (I have two because the other is much more like the original) and the other is the world's smallest. Sure its the plus version but its still Pacman :D

Also I saw that Metroid NES in its package. Love that game even though as a kid I never beat it. Had to point that out. Glad you have some vintage games and game consoles as well.
Yeah when i was a kid it was one of my favorite games! When Metroid II came out for the gameboy I about died, such a great game.

Midway had a total of 6 unlicensed Pac Man games, led to Namco revoking Midway's us rights, how ironic that Ms Pac Man became one of their biggest games
But they are Pac Man Plus (one of my FAVORITES btw, love the little different challenges of it and the metallic green maze color) Ms Pac Man, Baby Pac Man (Game/Pinball Hybrid) Jr Pac Man (Maze would scroll to the left and right because it was 3x bigger and wider than the original) and Professor Pac Man (Educational trivia arcade game with a pac man theme)

Yeah I don't know if I mentioned it in the video but the whole reason they made Ms. Pac-Man was because so many women loved the original Pac-Man.
Ms. Pac Man was made by General Computer Corporation with Midway, and contrary to popular belief, Namco approved of it.

I did get that score on the faster mode though. I play it on my 60 in 1. It's challenging that's for sure!
On most of the games on the 60in1, it's pretty dead on accurate I doubt the gameplay is different at all.
@@LyonsArcade That's true. I'm hoping to get an original Gyruss (one of my favorites) cause the sound on the 60 in 1 is totally distorted. It's a cheap board so I can't complain too much lol!
Yeah the sound is god awful on that one on there.... I have no idea why they did that. All of the sound on the boards were created differently, so I guess they have trouble emulating that.
Definitely a special game. Pac-Man in general is a genius idea for a coin-op. Timeless classic. I just purchased the Arcade1Up 3/4 scale version of Pac Plus. I would love a og version but with the size and weight and the "i don't no crap" about fixing one if it has a problem etc etc much more convenient for me.

This one doesn't really play as good compared to the old pacman but it's definitely more challenging. My favorite sequel to pacman was pac-land until pac-mania came out.
Pac-Man Plus is definitely a tough one!
I can say that the game doesn't get much easier; by Stage 3 (i think) the maze starts disappearing when you eat a power pellet. So unless you have the maze layout burned into you skull or the monitor has screen burn-in, you're not gonna be able to tell where you are.
Pac-Man moves slower when he is eating dots. So the ghosts can more easily catch you if your eating dots. Pac-Man should be able to turn corners faster than the ghosts. At least that is how it works in the original game not sure about Pac-Man plus.
I played this as a kid. I hated it. Of course I didn’t know nothing about moving. Or even circuit boards so when you would run into one of these, you’ve got, what is this crazy thing. And of course because it was so much harder it was just sucking up to quarters.
If you like Pac-Man, try RandomPac. It has been made as faithful as possible to the original arcade version except that the mazes are created randomly (they are different every time) and it contains bonus levels. You can download RandomPac from lowcarb.itch.io/
Also, its actually an orange, but that is a common mistake
loved the teal maze and new fruit pixel graphics back in the day, but was short lived, as they were all replaced by Ms.Pac ... (still a classic fav).

if there is a speed up hack on this, I have never seen it. would be a little easier if there was.
different cut scenes.
you are trying to deduce logic where there is none. it is random (which ghost doesn’t turn blue), but which quadrant might have something to do with the random seed generated in the code.
you can eat all the ghosts when eating the bonus fruit .. their point structure gets bumped up one level, so eating the 4th ghost gets you 3200 (instead of only 1600). not sure the logic they take when invisible.
obviously designed to address all the typical ways people play the regular version.
not sure if any of the patterns can still work on this, but was a nice attempt at taking the boring out of Pac-man never changing .. just the teal color even.
