    "comic book zone" physics have always differed a little from the real world, especially anytime someone gets super powers from radiation rather than cancer. There's also the concept of "magic" that could effect the trajectory, but the most important factor is that she'd rarely if ever stand straight on to a shot and always seems to be moving in a fashion to specifically direct the ricochet.

    what about the force into the arm? You should stick some kind of force sensor behind it and shoot it again and see how much force is exerted on the arm

    • @ruiningwang1644
      @ruiningwang1644 7 років тому +18

      Well really not much, because you can imagine it can't be more than the recoil you feel in your wrist as you shoot. The reason why the bullet is lethal is because it concentrates all that energy in a small point. Spread over the area of these bracelets it wouldn't even hurt.

    • @coderjoe1881
      @coderjoe1881 7 років тому +1

      Sure, I guess that makes sense. I was just watching a Modern Rogue video on shooting guns and they were describing the same thing.

    • @roidroid
      @roidroid 7 років тому +3

      if you can shoot a gun with 1 hand, you can stop a bullet with 1 (armored) hand too.

    • @Metalrasputian
      @Metalrasputian 7 років тому +15

      Ballistic vest impacts often result in broken bones and horrid bruises.
      The misconception here is that recoil force is equal to impact force, which is not true.
      Recoil is dampened by the slide track, using springs and the mass of the slide to reduce and redirect the transitional force felt by the user of the firearm. Where as there is no compensation for the target, so the full impact force is felt.
      While survivable, multiple shots to the forearm in a normal user would likely lead to bruised bones if not fractures. And definitely some gnarly flesh bruising.

    • @speedy01247
      @speedy01247 7 років тому +2

      a .22 if the metal is built good, it would not hurt that bad, but anything larger will start to hurt and if it reaches like a .308 probably could bruise or sprain the forearm. (it probably would break the gauntlet, but that beside the point)

    While you are absolutely correct about ricochets being very unlikely to come back at the shooter I can tell you from personal experience that it is possible to happen given the right environment. I was shooting .22s at a bowling ball 2 weeks ago and literally heard a ricochet and got out of the way just to hear it hit the wall behind me. So I actually dodged a bullet. 😊 Anyhow keep up the good work. I love your videos videos.

  • @DayTheMagpie

    I think it's important to note that Wonder Woman doesn't really hold her arm still when she deflects a bullet. She's always swinging her arm in some direction. While this may not have much of an effect on the shrapnel, it might redirect the path of the ricochet. I would suggest revisiting this with an arm you can swing.

  • @roidroid
    @roidroid 7 років тому

    If you welded fins sticking out from all of the welded angles (sorta like the flared fins of a radial heatsink), it might stop ricochets completely.

    So would it make more sense for a shield to be concave outward, so the ricochet gets directed back at the enemy? Or would that just direct it all towards the center of the shield till it punches through?

  • @ElizaShakiraMassani
    @ElizaShakiraMassani 7 років тому

    Yes the bullets bounced off the gauntlets but my question is are those bullets as dangerous as a regular straight on bullet? On thing I know I learned and remembered from that myth busters episode is that the bullet slows down substantially or it breaks apart.
    So are they actually deadly anymore?

  • @jonnycakes106
    @jonnycakes106 6 років тому +1

    You have to build gauntlets that have a rounded surface to get an more accurate experiment results.

  • @Romes66
    @Romes66 7 років тому +1

    Awesome video. You're forgetting her "abnormal" speed and reflexes, so I'm sure over time she could learn to ricochet the bullet wherever she wanted. Also, for another video, I'd love to see you take this concept on steroids and make almost a full body armor (in separate pieces so one could still move well in it). Perhaps with extra safety (vest/etc) have an actual person take a shot!

    Can you build a Frieza Soldier Energy Gauntlet. Because mostly everyone can't shoot Ki Blasts like Goku. But the Frieza Force has Gauntlets that shoot ki blasts. So would it be possibly to make a gauntlet that goes on the top of your hand/arm area that can shoot an energy blast? I'm think do something like a pulse laser, preferably yellow in color.

    Cprrect me if i am wrong, but would it be possible it a metal that absorbs all energy, and the bullet kust drops straight down?

    • @timturbo7727
      @timturbo7727 6 років тому

      RedSlime no
      Every action has an equal and opposite reaction
      Also lead is very brittle so any metal its hitting at high speeds (like from a gun) the lead will always fragment, bend, shatter, reflect, etc
      Things like kevlar and soft body armors are good at catching the bullet because when its hit the projectile just smashes down bending out and "mushrooming" (its called that cause it looks like a mushroom when it smashes like that)
      But no
      No metal when strucken by a bullet will absorb all energy and make the bullet harmlessly fall to the ground

    I am interested if the results would be different of you consider the fact that her gauntlets are smooth round rather than ridget, also she probably was trained to be able to position the gauntlet in a way that would result in a direct 90° angle with the bullet (despite this probably not happening in the movie visually)

  • @ruiningwang1644

    I think it's important to keep in mind that shooting at metal always carries a bit of risk. Yes, in ideal conditions the bullet shouldn't just ricochet back at you, and the pattern of the splatter is predictable. BUT you might hit an irregularity on your metal plate sending splatter in unexpected directions, you could also end up damaging the target. If the bullet carves out the target material it will project it back at you in the form of splatter.
    So yeah shooting metal = googles + enough distance and nobody around.

    • @ruiningwang1644
      @ruiningwang1644 7 років тому +1

      nah bullets don't bounce elastically except maybe if it hits at a really shallow angle. the forces involved in a head on strike immediately turn the bullet into splatter upon impact. picture more like hurling a vase against a wall.
      Maybe a heavy and slow bullet fired out of a suppressed weapon? That would be the only case I can imagine where it could maybe bounce back.

    • @WinnieThePooh333
      @WinnieThePooh333 7 років тому

      so what she does is she slams the bullet so hard at the right angle then nearly the entire bullet breaks upon her gauntlet and just leaves an impact hole filled with bullet shit but some of the particle will sort of be blasted back then ...
