very helpful vid for someone coming back to the game and having to figure out this new max drag system. explains why my old setups where toasting the reel hella fast.
Was about time someone did a newer version Bo. Especially for newer players, or players who for instance didn't know the max drag changes. Very nice vid mate.
actually it is suppose to be just like it is in the heads up details on the left side of the screen . strongest in this order -> rod , reel , line , then leader . i have played a lil over 1000 hours on this game . this way if your leader breaks just put on a new leader and hook your way the reel will break before the line would not good , if that happens you have to get a new rod and reel then line and a new leader . and max lvl is now 80 i believe i think 3 years ago it was like 50 or close to it . i love this game though its very fun especially now with it being 18 degrees outside .
The one issue is that you cannot use the maximum allowance of your drag on your reel- if the reel is stronger than your line. However, if the line is stronger, you can use the maximum (minus the last part after the update) and don’t have to worry about the line breaking. If set up correctly- nothing should break at all with this combination, because the rod is not maxed out, the reel is not maxed out and the line is not maxed out. Unless you put on a weaker leader, then there is a chance.
Very informative, you have answered many of the questions I was wondering about setting up my real and rods. I wish I had seen this sooner, do you know the money I would have saved. I was buying rods left and right, I had enough reels but, now I know better because of this video. Now the question I have is where can I go to get the most XP Points and money. I would assume you have been playing for some time now seeing how you have over 2 mil in cash. I look forward to hearing from you. I usually go to Emerald and fish for Walley for money. Once again I look forward to your answer. Thanks.
My casting setup is 13 kg rod,12.7 kg leader,12.1 kg line and 12 kg reel is that good ..... I wasted so many coin to line and i realized mono line only work for feeder/button rod
re: "only repair if its about to hit zero" .. If you're planning to repair anyway, is there financial incentive to wait till its so low durability? I assumed the cost to repair was pretty linear with the durability health level?
Hi Bo! Thanks for the video, it was helpful. I have one question that just doesn't let me sleep. Are match rods worth it or shall I keep fishing with feeders?
These are just general terms. If your rod is 88lbs, and your reel is 85lbs, with 86lb line in the middle, then your rod is "strongest," reel is "weakest." But in actuality - they're all strong equipment.
@@FullmoonEffects89 yeah, technically you could take the drag of the reel and divide by the amount of drag settings, subtract one of those fractions to see what the max would be at “max-1”. Would be worth seeing if it works well!
good video! but why would you wanna have your reel break down carrying all the line with it instead of having the line/ leader break down first and minimizing losses?
Because the game prioritizes the strength of your reel in order to reel in the fish faster. If you buy a stronger reel, but the line/leader is weaker, you gain nothing, because the line will break and the upgrade is worthless. However if the reel is always the weakest length, it can always be used to its full potential.
@@BoAngles I see, it makes sense mechanically but i think that if you dont have a lot of money (like me hehe) and since the reel would take a heavy load due to prioritization, it seems like it would wear down faster than the line, and thus since its more expensive than it, it would kill my pocket faster lol. Is this valid? im kinda new thats why
@@lucianocisneros805 nah, you should rarely ever repair gear unless it’s below 5-10% durability. By that point; most people are upgrading to a better load out or they have plenty of money to cover the cost. The biggest thing in fishing planet is money/minute. You master that, and you’re golden.
Quick question: I'm using the rod setup rules as you've described (Rod>Line>Reel), but anytime I throw on max drag the reel locks up and then it wears like crazy. I was under the impression that the line/leader should be the weakest link, anyone mind explaining to me how it works these days?
@@BoAngles Awesome, thanks. But say I really am struggling and up the drag to max, how does it work? Is there a chance that the reel breaks while at 90% durability or will it just go down really quickly and then brake when it hits 0%?
@@zeyd231 yeah, like I mentioned in the video- it breaks at 0% and will stay at full strength until that point. Only really becomes a problem if you’re grinding and will most likely use all 10% of that rod within a few in game days fishing- before you have to return to your Home Screen to repair - and then pay the travel costs again.

well done bo , appreciate the hard work and time invested , have you thought about doing a template video on setting up for different lakes etc...
YES thank you for this. I've been waiting for an updated guide!

Feeder rods are great for a long cast.
This video helped me out a lot
Love your vids they help😊😂🎉🎉

Thats a video i needed man thanks
I have it of a good source the ocean update will be in February for the Chinese new year 😊
Also I have 18k and I could either go to white moose lake or saint croix, I have the gear to go to either one
Hopefully you went with st croix and are way further along now💪🏻
Hi Bo! Thanks for the video, it was helpful. I have one question that just doesn't let me sleep. Are match rods worth it or shall I keep fishing with feeders?
Match rods become worth it at St. croix
Thanks for the information. I will buy match rods then
i am not able to place rod stand on wooden floor after the update what is that is it a bug or something else please reply.
Yes
This is a GREAT video. I have this one question. you say strong rod weak reel... why wouldn't you want a strong rod and a strong reel?

I legitimately bought a 30k combo and the reel I'd bad if only I had waited a day
Since max drag is useless, does it make sense to get a slightly stronger reel and use second to max drag?
@@FullmoonEffects89 yeah, technically you could take the drag of the reel and divide by the amount of drag settings, subtract one of those fractions to see what the max would be at “max-1”. Would be worth seeing if it works well!
will i lose my tackle / lures when the reel / rod reaches 0% durability ?
Good question, I don’t think so, unless it breaks Mid cast or something- then maybe
What are the 3 dots for tip strength for feeder rods?
Supposed to be different sensitivity settings, but as far as I’m aware, it doesn’t matter
I doubt you read comments from a 3 month old video but if you do what brand is that shirt you are wearing I am digging it
Ah! That is a Simms shirt, they’re a bit expensive, but I get a decent discount with my state wildlife agency work
Good video
Sorry man Ik you get asked this a lot and it’s annoying but any new news on ocean fishing
If I haven’t made a video, there is no news.

What about the fishing planet ocean update do you know when it’s coming?
What about the quiver tips on the feeder rods? Does it actually affects the exp modifier or smth?
No, don't worry about the quiver tips at all
What is the purpose of max drag for the reel?
You're the best❤
this CC helped me a lot
I dont understand why a reel can hold x amount of a much higher line than the max drag is.
@@rickpelland3768 imagine a game of tug of war, but the rope is weaker than the strength of the participants
Sorry but do you know where should I go after reaching lvl 48... Hopefully not the sturgeon again 😅

Yeah, max drag is no more
So just keep it one under unless you’re really struggling

Rod >Line>Reel. Did you change that order from the past? Could've sworn the last two were reversed.
I try the line stronger than the reel, then it says it will risk damage

someone knowing the setup ?
Another one
Update for Fishing Planet on PS4 just drop unsure what the update is
Off topic but can someone plz tell me how to switch between chat channel?...Like Club, General chat...Thank you!!
Should be tabs at the top of the chat box
Do any of you know why I can't equip rod holder on docks?
I'm six months late but some rod holders stab in dirt so can't be used on docks. That's my guess at least. Mine has legs so it sits anywhere.
Hey Bzhub, I really need you help in fishing planet!!! 🙏🏻😔
How'd you get so much money in bake coins

The amount of money I wasted before watching this video😗😗
