I've yet to lose a fish due to low recovery rate reels, though it might be more of an issue boat fishing. I just walk backwards while reeling when they start running at me. Also I've had unique muskie come close to spooling me, which they would have had I not walked parallel to the water in the fishes direction, which can help you land the big ones on weaker gear. Had to walk a quarter mile back to my spot when the fight was over, but it was worth it.
@@simonegeria6317 I usually keep drag at 1 or 2 steps from max, depending on gear. Sometimes 3, when the highest level titanium leader is much weaker than line/reel strength. I was talking about using low level gear in new places - like when just starting the Michigan grind with level 28 gear. Some of the big uniques can almost spool you if you don't take steps to avoid it.
I am getting rods that are in the right range of line strength but the rod tension is still super low and it’s hard to land fish. Is there any tips y’all can give to help
recently I've been using a 2 rod stand and a lure set up, a match set up and a deep line setup, gets interesting at times but I still match things up a little wonky
I think i found a loop hole Just tried to move place or force exit game and back when i lose a bait After i back no bait used Maybe if a fish snap your line dont reel in Just change spot and then back Or force quit game and back
Hey I had a issue and I’m struggling I got the value spin 6’7 and had money so I got the Wincast 1500 reel but when I equip my caster spoon it says “terminal tackle is to light, cast will be short” I’ve been googling left and right and can’t find a solution
@@BoAngles multiply reel max drag by two to get max fish weight. Did I understand from the reel set up video that the line is always weaker than the reel and reel max drag should match or be less than the rod strength? I am really confused, but I think the goal is for the leader or line to break first.
@@SAndrewNewkirk it’s just a rough estimate, we’re obviously catching +500lb fish at Kaiji no ri with 190lb reels, so it’s not foolproof. Rod>line>leader>reel is the perfect combination for the game.
Great video but this info doesn’t. Apply simply bc it’s a game I got rods from emerald and reeel tht I used at croix. was it hard no , it was fun . It made fishing fishing more realistic . Eventually I upgraded to save on time . If the fish can’t put up a decent fight it makes the game boring h
@@chrischapoteau3263 well, yes - “best” is subjective. But in this context, it was referring to the strongest combo of rod and reel- which is mostly dependent on your level. So, just trying to get across a pretty simple concept to people.

U’ve gotta add more drag to ur reel otherwise will always be difficult, on pc is + and - on the numpad,

Man I wish this video was put out 1 day before and I would have been handy for saint croix :)
Love the content❤
100th person to like!!🎉🎉
I think I had part in this, in a stream I asked what are the best rods for this certain level, and here we are a few weeks later, a video about it😀😀
Thank you
Thanks man

I'd have no shame about doing that if I'd otherwise lose a reward lure that I'd no longer have access to otherwise.

Why should it be multiplied by two?
You multiply your reel's max drag by two to get a basic idea of the largest fish you could fight successfully.

If they're within netting distance when you set the hook, or if you walk or troll toward them while they swim away?
