Her mother exploited her for yearssss and had her hanging out with all these grown adults when she wasn’t even a teenager. Come on, we all know there were some sickos who watched dance moms….Jojo was as young as 12 and her mom was promoting her hanging out with a bunch of adults. And now Jojo is an adult she’s still catering to children and hanging out with some of the biggest predators online….it’s like the cycle repeats itself. A 30 year old shouldn’t be friends with a kid. Even if they are working together, doing skits, tv shows, whatever. If Colleen wasn’t such a fcking weirdo she’d have been friends with this kids mother. She shouldn’t have anything in common with a child. It’s so bizarre.

    • @lhays117
      @lhays117 11 місяців тому +34

      Yeah I definitely get that, but I don't think it's wrong to be quasi-friends with a kid as long as you're around their parent too just so that things don't come off as potentially sussy. I think a healthy and non-creepy adult-kid friendships can be potentially beneficial as I think adults can have valuable insight on life to impart on kids that their parents may or may not necessarily have. I also think that kids just hanging out with kids their own age can mean that they kind of get stuck in a feedback loop of social standards that are restricted to their own naive age group, and that's further made worse by how kids are often rebellious towards their parents and in turn might not listen to their advice. When it comes to an adult they think is "cool" though they might actually listen to the same or similar advice that their parents might tell them, but just be more receptive to said advice since it's coming from someone that isn't a parental authority figure. Does that make sense?
      That said, yeah if you're an adult and you're just taking a 12 year old to go hang out with you solo without their parents around that can definitely come off as understandably weird AF unless you're like babysitting the kid or something when their parents aren't around. I dunno, it's a bit of a gray area IMO, though I do understand for sure where the reluctance comes from with all the potentially fucked up adults like Colleen that are out there.

There's a lot of situations in life where an adult can mentor or befriend a young person in a variety of scenarios. seriously? My mom was a high school teacher and she befriended several of her students after they had graduated. She was in her 50's and they were in their 20's. She did so because she genuinely liked them and they liked her and respected her ideas and opinions and vice versa. I suppose my mom, who was a stellar teacher, could have been accused of something if some vengeful person had wanted to do so. These attitudes need to stop. What would happen if you met a 20 year old who was mature and insightful beyond their years and you really enjoyed hanging out with them? Should we say, hey, you are 11 years old than them! When I was 13 years old my best friend in the world was a 22 year old man. Of course i thought it was because I was more mature then my peers, I knew how to held a conversation, I wasn't like the other girls. He was kind, funny, loving and supporting. Of course when he told me he was falling in love with me (I was 15, he was 24) I thought it was a normal development, my fault kinda, I probably led him on.. anyways a year later we started dating. It lasted until I was 18 and could finally see him for what he was: a groomer. A person who took advantage of a young lost girl and had fun while molding me to be obedient and submissive and completely alone (at a certain point I didn't have any friends anymore because he manipulated so I could only have him as a companionship). I'm 25 years now. Im a teacher and when I see my students, teens from 12 to 15 years I old, I see how oblivious they are, almost innocent in a way, how easy it would be for a 20 something with more life experience to manipulate them. Only being a teacher and seeing teens for what they are, I could really understand how malicious and cruel he was to me (before that I used to think it was my fault, that I in some way seduced him). Anyways, another thing I think about is how now I'm the same age he was while we dated (and i was 16) and man.. I wouldn't be FRIENDS with a 16 y/o lol completely different worlds. I barely have patience with my students and my brother who has the same age... imagine being friends or dating someone that age... you have to be twisted. Kids must be protected, unfortunately at that age is hard to understand you're being manipulated, but I'll tell you, the scars can last forever :(

So I think a good question to ask her is IF there was even a POSSIBILITY that Colleen could’ve harmed ANY children in ANY way, is she acting responsibly by defending Colleen and calling victim’s accusations “lies”? I think she’s taking way too hard of a stance regardless of her own trauma and knows that she is completely discrediting the victims who spoke out and minimized all of it into “lies the internet ran with for way too long” and THAT I personally do not give her a pass for. Its past the point of her being only 20 and not knowing better. After her 3rd "friend" gets called out for behavior that is inappropriate and hurts children it should be enough to take a step back and reevaluate why so many in her peer group are being labeled as that.

    Jimmy is right about Jojo though. She was just a huge fangirl defending her idol. She can't see all Colleen's bullshit because of the Rose tinted glasses she had on at the moment. It didn't help that she was also sheltered and probably never experienced any of the shit Colleen's and other famous people victims had to endure or she did but because of her child star nature it's pretty much normal in her point of view. She's lucky (or unlucky) that Colleen liked her enough not to get bullied by her. She does not understand that those kids especially Adam was just like her. Colleen also made Adam feel like they are friends, and that he was special, just like her 'friendship' with Jojo. The only difference is that Jojo is just as famous as Colleen, if not more so they don't have the same level of fan/idol power dynamic as her victims. She was working since she was a child and was exposed to manipulative and vindective adults early in her life that maybe she thinks all of this isn't really a big deal and the allegations are exaggerated if not made up. Also Jojo thinks she owe her youtube career to Colleen so she have to be loyal to her.

Jojo is still in that environment. And actually she was RAISED in that environment. She met Colleen because of the entertainment industry so their relationship if a bit different, which I’m sure blurs the lines in Jojo’s mind. I think when’s she started talking about the “difference” of their friendship, I think she was alluding to the fact that they both had fame and status and maybe that’s what made it not feel as wrong. • @SunriseOnViolet
      @SunriseOnViolet 11 місяців тому +1

      @@Jane-oz7pp Yes, I did, because I was a teen when I met them and they were significantly older. But also I shouldn’t need to give gory details to make a comment saying that I can relate to Jojo’s experience of having a relationship with a power imbalance but feeling like it doesn’t count because there were other factors that blur the lines. In my PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, I was legally an adult but far far from being someone who understood that someone older would take advantage of that and talk to me about things that I was not equipped to talk about so young. My take on the Jojo situation is that she was a child who grew up in the industry with fame so her becoming friends with another celebrity who she looked up to, when she’s already surrounded by adults all the time, might not feel wrong to HER. She may not understand that just because you’re both entertainers who have audiences that are kids doesn’t make it okay for an adult to become your friend. The same way that just because you’re 18 and technically an adult, doesn’t mean that someone over a decade older than you should be talking to you as friends when they had no reason to be associating with someone who was in high school just months earlier. You can interpret my words as me comparing apples to oranges and you needing to question the validity of my experience, but you don’t know how much I can relate to this situation. You don’t NEED to know, and that’s okay with me.

    It saddens me how young Jojo still is, only 20, and how many obviously manipulative liars are in her circle, likely using her because it's easier to manipulate her opinion for her support and therefore access to HER audience. I can imagine that being famous so young that it's got to be impossible to make any real friends or trust anybody.

    I feel like the one thing we need to consider here is that we could be looking at a case of a victim just not processing the fact that she’s been exploited and abused since she was a child. Not saying that as an excuse for Jojo’s behavior, but it could be an explanation as to why she’s gunning so hard for Colleen’s defense.

    • @Charlie_835

  • @malpal1213
    @malpal1213 11 місяців тому +9

    Of course the child victim will NOT see the abuse until she is shut away from all of it and can move on. Then looking back, she’ll realize it all.
    No adult has good intentions if they are prioritizing being friends with a 12 year old.

    to be fair when you're that close to someone from the age of 12 you're going to be biased because the relationship means so much to you and that person was a big part of your formative years. I wouldn't blame Jojo her brain isn't even fully formed yet she's only 20. It's not Jojos responsibility to be a spokesperson for Colleen but when she's put on the spot what is she gonna say am I right?

  • @missellehansen

    I know 20 is young, but to put it in perspective, Adam is 20. They met Colleen around the same time.
    The difference is that Jojo already had a cocktail of other adult influences around her that probably warped her perspective of normalcy.
    It may take Jojo longer, but there shouldn’t be so much emphasis put on her age (at least not as “well, she’s still basically a kid…” [slightly exaggerated, but you get it]).

    I love JoJo. I think she's really young and it's hard to see things with that little life experience. Yea she's famous and that forces you to grow up but I think stuff like this still takes a certain maturity in life. this is hard for her and she'll realize the truth eventually. It's like when victims don't come out for yeeeaaars, it's hard to swallow and deal with thruth and sometimes you spend years working it out in your own head of what happened to you was what it is and there's so much nuance to every situation. I think Howie is right to put the thought provoking questions in her head for her to take home with her.

    Isn't it hypocriticle of us to judge her as a sober voice in the same breath as we call her a potentiall victim? And why even call it potential, jojo has known coleen since she was 12 THATS LIKE THE SAME AGE ADAM WAS. Jojo so clearly is a victim it's easy to tell by the way she protects coleen. That's why I appreciated Trishas vid cuz she was a little more sympathetic to the idea of jojo only defending coleen not because she actually agrees but becasue she is STILL brainwashed from the adults that constanly have been araound her for her entire growing up. Honesly feeling sorry for jojo shouldn't be the unpopular opinion BECAUSE SHE IS A VICTIM, SHE CAÖLED COLLEN HER FRIEND we should be patient with her
