Captain is responsible for the aircraft so sometimes you do see him having some control or being close to the controls, that can be seen on a number of videos we filmed with several airlines.

Captain can command a go-around or push throttles forward, should airspeed fall too low. It's an older practice but still done by some airlines. At one time, the F/Os were never allowed to touch the throttles unless the Captain also had his hand on them!
