Grinding coffee until it turns into chocolate

  • So last week I made some milk chocolate using a wet grinder. A lot of you asked what would happen if I put coffee into this thing? So I decided to test that out and see what happens, and the results were a little more interesting than I would have thought.

    It's worth noting that the caffeine dose is going to be pretty aggressive here. Whole coffee beans are 1.5-3% caffeine, so a 3oz bar (the recipe is 33% coffee by weight) is going to be equivalent to about 4-8 cups of coffee. The full recipe as written is 24-48 cups!

    This is a question I've had for a looong time and I'm so glad someone finally did this (and confirmed my suspicions about fat content and needing to add some). I guess the reason why this is not commercially for sale is the high caffeine content - it wouldn't be responsible to sell this off-the-shelf, and there's definitely parents who would see this stuff marketed as 'chocolate made from coffee' and assume it was safe for kids because chocolate is safe for kids... so I guess it would be more of an analog to things like Red Bull and Monster. Hell, one of those brands could make big money selling this in bite-sized bars with individual wrappers, as long as they make it clear that one of said bite-sized bars equals a whole can of red bull. Or multiple, I don't know the exact amount of caffeine that would be in, say, 50 grams of this.

    There's that German chocolate product called Scho-Ka-Kola which contains finely ground coffee beans, but only 2.6%. It also contains finely ground cola nut. It was introduced in 1936 and in WW2 was included in nazi pilot rations, therefore also being called "Fliegerschokolade" ('airman chocolate'), not to be confused with "Panzerschokolade" ('tank chocolate') or "Fliegermarzipan" ('airman marzipan'), two nicknames for methamphetamine back then, which nazi soldiers also consumed a lot.

      Wasn't just the soldiers juiced up on meth, the citizens were too. The way the German military's doctrine was at the time was to bum rush with fast mobility and then wait for supplies for another bum rush, as a result the level of productivity required to maintain such a supply line skyrocketed like the V2s and the citizens were given the meth to keep production up.

    i saw the chocolate was a little melty idk if you already did this. But by tempering the chocolate yo make it shinier have more of a snap and make it melt in your hand less. you can temper by heating the chocolate in a double boiler and putting some on a wax paper letting the wax strip cool and see if it snaps.

    • @monicanonya
      @monicanonya 2 роки тому +1

      Please never put anything hot onto wax paper! Best case scenario, it's cool enough that it doesn't effect the wax. Worst case, you put something just a touch too hot down and you end up with a layer of wax fused to the bottom of whatever you put on it. Just use baker's paper instead
