Hi Ken.. Next time you want to go to Borneo. Give me a buzz. I am from there and I can give you a lot of tips. You can even stay at my parents' house which is quite near to Mount Kinabalu for free. But beware of my brother, he loves dragging mat salleh along to drink rice wine. That's what happen to my husband everytime when we went back. Lol
Hi Ken The lady's statue is the Princess Mom of the late king (King Rama IX).She was a commoner married with the Prince Father (son of the King Rama V) and became the royalty Princess mother of King Rama VIII and IX and Princess grandmother of the present King Rama X. She established many royal projects to developed the local people to have work and income and taught them to preserved the environment and forest. She was beloved and respected for all Thai people.
Ken, to prepare tea, you don't need any special utensils. Just use any mug/cup that you can get in your hotel room. Put a little tea leaves into it, pour hot water and wait for a while.... And there goes your drink. No sugar is needed for Chinese tea.
Mr.Ken, the Lady statue you saw inside the chedi (temple) on the mountain top is the late King Rama 9 (king') 's mother, the current Thai King's grandmother. A portion of Her Majesty's ashes is kept in the Chedi. This shows how much the KIng's mother loved the people of Mae Salong.
Hi Ken, I drove to this this hill resort all the way from KL exactly 25 years ago. Obviously it has expanded considerably though some of the folks have since moved to Taiwan. The local Yunnan noodle soup is nice which you should not miss. Hope you have a great stay in this stunning hill resort. Thank you !
Ken, I a Kedah Malaysia chinese. So excited to see a chinese village in Thailand. I hope I have a chance to visit this village in the future. Tq for taking us there. Stay safe and continue to enjoy your journey as always.🙏🙏
Woah....amazing scenery/ views, amazing tour around that local market, beautiful temple, awesome drone shots, yummy food and lastly interesting vlog....always fun to watch. Great job, Ken 💪👍
I think you should be able to make tea in your room. They usually give you an electric kettle for boiling water, and a couple of cups. And some tea bags. Instead of the tea bags, just put a spoonful of tea in the cup and pour hot water over it, and wait a few minutes. The leaves will settle to the bottom and you can then drink the tea without drinking the leaves. I often do this.
Yay!! Ken you made it! I was so looking forward for you to go to Mae Salong the beautiful chinese mountain village. I have been there once and i missed it there. I am so excited when i see your video upload. Im looking forward for more.
A beautiful arch in the background. Ya, today's is 31st Aug...is Malaysian 64th lndependence Day. Time flies...last year at this date, you, (Ken) together with Joao and Christiana, celebrated our National Day at the draw bridge in Kuala Terengganu. It's exactly a year 💪👍👍 HAPPY MERDEKA DAY to all Malaysian subscribers here 🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾🥳🥳
I really like how you are getting more and more confident on the bike. Going down those crazy paths and off the main roads leads to amazing surprises. thanks for sharing them with us
Awesome Ken ! These days your content is getting more & more mesmerising and its taking my breathe away 😆. Watching that village from Mae Salong ,it reminded me of a hill town called Darjeeling in North India . Plucking 2 leaves and a bud is the secret of best tea production . Have fun and keep on exploring .
Amazing View Point 👍 No wonder of the beauty of the North of Thailand. So nice to see the area far away but so clear by the Drone View.Big deal you have 😀
That Chinese dish is called 梅菜扣肉 Mei Cai Kou Rou, in English it's pork belly with preserved mustard greens. It can be found in many places where there are Hakka Chinese.
Wonderful of you to include some History in your vlog. Lots of Chinese influence there...the food, the architectural design of the restaurant and Chinese characters are written/used. Too bad that l couldn't read Chinese as l was English educated 😀😀😊
Normally Chinese tea is prepared without sugar or milk. There are 2 types of Chinese tea, semi-fermented tea and green tea (which is unfermented). The tea served in the west is fermented tea (normally served with sugar snd milk). The historical background of the Chinese Thai in northern Thailand is interesting, never knew that they fled communist rule. Looking forward to your next episode on Chiang Rai!
this place is Mae Salong hill village best time to visit is November to Febuary if you went there will be very cooling, especially during the chinese new year hill tribe peoples will gather for the celebration with many tradition performance.
Lots to see & explore on some great little roads up there. A great road (1149) that hugs the border with Myanmar all the way to Mae Sai is well worth the ride. Mae La Luang is along the way. Miss that part of Thailand, thanks for the great video.
The statue in the temple is of king Rama 9's mother. The queen mother. She lived in northern Thailand and was very active in helping the local area and it's people. She earned a particularly cherished place in the hearts and minds of Thai people
Another great video. Very adventurous to ride a rental scooter along a dirt track on top of a mountain, but the view rewarded you! Your series about Northern Thailand have got me thinking more about those parts. Safe travels!
Such breath taking view. Thank you Ken! The braised pork you ate, Malaysia Chinese restaurant also has it. Quite a popular dish among Malaysian Chinese. It's so good.
From Google Map, this Thai Temple is just 400 to 500 meter walk from the 7/11 and the morning market. I think you missed to explore the few lanes nearer to the market, there are some cafes and teahouse by the hillside which is the most popular part for most tourists.
I went to Mae Hong Son which was fascinating, had lots of Yunnanese influence combined with Burmese. This chinese village looks incredible and i plan to visit there now because of your video
The Chinese Troops ran the opium Trade for many years in this area in conjunction with the Thai Military. A lot of the Chinese Nationalist Troops emigrated to Taiwan in the 1960's.
Peaceful and simple life in the rurals.... Easily distracted with the views of the hills and mountains while you're riding...12:40 ..Replica of the TerraCotta Warriors of Xian ( I reckon a strong chinese presence here)... Chinese food, Tea tasting, exploring a tea plantation...Quite a fruitful day for you... Stay safe, be vigilant , ride safely....

Hi Ken, greetings from Singapore. I have watched all your videos but this is my first comment. Since you are going to Chiang Rai, may I suggest you visit Chiang Sean. I have been there a few times because my long time friend grew up there. It is located right next to Mekong River and has these unique steps on the river bank. It is non-touristic and I am sure you will like it there. Hope to see you there.

You should try a 360 camera like the Insta360, would be really handy while on your bike, could capture everything and edit to your preference afterward 😊 (A bit safer for you too lol)
