The gravel drive is a good idea. Were it concrete or tarmac you would always be sweeping up depressing amounts of rust flakes whenever you moved or worked on a car lol
Honestly, probably my favourite car of the early 2000s. I just love the shape, the look, the inside. Can't wait to see you guys bring it back to its formal glory
Great to see a mk1 focus saved! My cousin had a S reg virtually launch model 2.0 Ghia blue with grey leather was a fantastic car to drive and ride in back then I was not a fan and thought Ford got it wrong not calling it an escort 😂 I soon learned and had a mk2 and 3 and loved every minute of owning them looking forward to seeing this one come back to life
Fantastic! I think the expression for the rear inner arches is 'they all do that sir'. Funnily enough, my 02 Focus still has the original exhaust, coil pack, and clutch! Not bad for 152k miles and 22 years.
My first brand new car when I was in my 20s was a 1.6 Zetec, had it 8 years never gave me any trouble and was mint when I sold it. Haven't owned a car since that has been as much fun to drive
Yay! This is almost identical to my daily driver, although mine's lower spec with steel wheels and no front foglights. It was my late father's last car, I inherited it by default because nobody else in the family wanted it and my brother was going to scrap it. Since November 2021 I've put 32,000 miles on it and it's probably the most fun car I've ever driven. When I finish my Peugeot Expert project I'd quite like to take the Focus off the road and do a bit of preservation work to it.
Reminds me of a 250 mile collection of a deceased spec SEAT Marbella I did in 2006: 38k miles and the original clutch was done. Acceleration had to be done very gently and you had to be careful of 5th gear as the slightest hill could trigger it slipping.
Jameson's of Carryduff and Lindsay cars! Bought few Fords from those guys! 😁 Never had a mark 1 😢 went from Escorts to Fiestas and then Mk2 and Mk 3 Focus as driving school cars. Would love a nice MK1 now but thin on the ground these days.
@alsodriven To be fair most cars at 20 years old will be close to needing some welding doing. Show me a 10 year old VW or Audi that the front wings haven't started bubbling or gone altogether. 5 years ago the youngest mk1 would have been 15 years old and were still very common, the rate of attrition over the last few years has been staggering. Fords anti corrosion warranty on these was 12 years, compared with 6 years for the Escort it replaced. I think most new Fords are also only 6 years.
@@alsodriven had one as a hire car from London to The North. By the time I got past the M25 I was bent double when I got out at the services. Pity because the rest of the car was ok.
I see now why there aren't many Mk.1 Focuses about. 2003 though, yikes. 😬 I really hope it can be de-rusted and welded well enough to make it usable and safe. Still, if anyone can, Sion can.
A focus with rust, unheard of 😅 Plenty for you to do, including the clutch..... Savage wind noise in this video, should have stayed in the car as much as possible.

Good point lol!!!

Will be nice to have a classic with Aircon and ULEZ
Jeez - I bet the wind of the last few days has made outside filming loads of fun guys ..........
It really ruined the sound a lot

It's amazing that even though this was at the end of its working life it was still a really enjoyable car

That's impressive!
Hardest working cars in the UK! So happy to see it saved!
Couldn't agree more!
I love Mk1 Focuses, they drive so nicely
Even though this is a scrap yard escapee you can still really tell

Was driving it last night and it's so much better than most modern cars
Looking forward to see what comes next with the focus!
Lots of projects on ATM so much slow burn on most of them. Think the Tipo needs some love next
@@alsodrivensounds great, I enjoy watching all the escapades you two get up too.

It's amazing how good cars are nearly often thrown away
excelent video
Thank you !!!

Yeah we were having the same problem

And now we know why... Rust

Now I'm kinda sad about getting rid of my Daewoo Lanos which I bought from my aunt, and her father bought it brand new.
Awww, that's sad 😢
Considering the history its worth saving. Who's going to do the welding?
Siôn!!!😂
Possibly the worst seats of any car but it transformed the image of Ford globally.
Yeah both of us got back ache in it

It's a good project for him
Should you be keeping it? :P
I suppose they say there is much worse out there...? Not sure I would have taken it on though :/
Bit of a project
Well, you had to save it, didn't you - with the family history! Good opportunity to improve your fabrication and welding skills, perhaps!
You got that right!
hi are you going to be selling the white fiat cinychenco?
Sorry no, it's a keeper for us
In need of a little TLC methinks
Just a little lol

I know... Annoying
