I was just getting no where with either derm I saw insurance covered nothing and it was so expensive so I decided to try curology after a friend said it was amazing and honestly it’s so great! It’s cheaper then just my doctors visits alone cost me and the formula they made for me is one that super gentle and fragrance free is one of the first acne medications that I can tolerate and that actually helps!

Curology is so great for those of us who can't afford a derm. As someone who has been using them for two years, it really helps. I miss the body wash, wish it came in a bigger bottle cause it's really good.

it's almost a challenge for me to see how fast I can click on Cassandra's late-night youtube videos. The last video was 3 minutes after the video was posted and today is 1 minute lol.
I get the big bottle from Curology once every 2 months and it costs me $40/every 2 months and it lasts exactly that. One pump per day (night formula since I'm on Trentinoin) and is perfectly distributed and just the right amount to use. So good! Highly recommend.

I tried it, but it pilled horribly. They gave me a low dose of tretinoin, azelaic acid and clindamycin. I even used it alone on clean skin but it pilled. HAVE YOU HAD ISSUES WITH PILLING?
I am used to 0.1% Micro Retin-A which is the maximum strength in a gentler time-released form. They were going to make me start with the weakest dose and slowly step up.

I live in the UK and unless your rich you can’t see a dermatologist privately. On the health care system the waiting list is years long due to the shortage on terms - for this I’m grateful for Dermatica in the UK

ill say that curology saved my skin. its like 50 bucks for two months for me and its so, so worth it.
Now that I learned so much about my skin. I make sure I bombard them with questions, I pay money and the fact that they will murder my insurance. They are not leaving until all my questions are met.

I’m in the UK and enjoying Dermatica so far, they initially sent me a product with Niacinamide which gives me horrific reactions but when I emailed about it they immediately gave me other options and sent my chosen one it out for free. Tret is otherwise very hard to get in the UK and though I’m on only 0.015% it seems to be working for me.
The NHS don’t really recommend people to dermatologists or only give topical acne creams that don’t really address the true core issue or occasionally give accutane if severe enough. Non traditional acne or anything else that isn’t acne just isn’t a focus.
My personal experience with Curology has been great! I’ve been using it for about 1.5 years with a few formula changes along the way. I’m currently on tret, clindamycin and azelaic acid. This combo has been amazing for my skin! I used to get hormonal acne and it’s been over 9 months since I’ve experienced those types of breakouts (I keep a lil skincare journal to monitor progress). It took maybe 6 months to really start to see progress but I’m so happy with my results. 🙂

I used Curology for a few months to help clear my acne then switched to Apostrophe, thanks to a dermatologist I follow here on UA-cam. Im still using Apostrophe mainly just for my post acne marks, and Ive been using them since last December. I love them and I wish I would have know about them sooner.💜

Does apostrophe just give you acne treatment and meds or do they also give you face wash and other products?

Apostrophe changed my skin and changed my opinion on getting help from a derm. For, my skin journey began when a derm proscribed me the wrong medication that made my skin peel off leaving red, raw skin. It was my low point and despite this I never gave up.
I love dermatica 💕 It's so hard to access to a derm in the UK because all our healthcare is free and resources are limited ❤️ The only time they will refer you for acne is if you are being prescribe roacutane!

In Israel it's universal but really great.Fast,easy.Derm or no derm.Make an appointment immediately refered to nearest or that you know.Go to the doctor ask for tret prescription and get your 6 bucks tret in pharmacy immediately.I can't get why american system is so crazy

I've not tried dermatica but yeah I've had US people tell me to just "talk to my derm" for tret and I'm like... I want it for wrinkle prevention and mild texture, there's no way an NHS doc would give it to me without severe acne. I kind of appreciate it in a way? Like in the US it basically seems like as long as you have the resources you can basically buy the medication you want because there's financial incentives for docs to prescribe. In the UK, even though it's annoying bc sometimes you have to fight for what you need because they're overly cautious, at least it's not basically part of the consumer sphere which feels v icky to me. Just the idea of ads for prescription medication makes me feel ill.
I use Apostrophe. I get pills and Tretinoin for my hormonal acne. Life changer.

@@simplyti7851 it's not every month for me. I get tret, my pills every 3-4 months. I pay about 90 USD. The doctor visits are about 20 usd. Everything is online and thr ship to your house. The cost may be different for you.

I’ve had to resort to sketchy eBay sellers/ blogspot merchants just to get some 20% azelaic acid. It shouldn’t be this challenging to get good effective skincare lol
You can order 15% from Facetheory's UK site. It is a very nice product. I know it isn't 20% but 15% has been studied as being effective.

In my country, we can get prescription-strength products at the pharmacies without prescription. And they're much more affordable than OTC products from drugstore or "medical-grade" skincare brands. Tretinoin creams/gels are super affordable. They cost around $2-$6. Azelaic Acid and Adapalene gels/creams are also very cheap. They cost around $3-$4.
And more importantly, we have a site called "Halodoc". If we already buy those creams/gels and don't know how to use them, we can go to that site to talk to dermatologists online - well, actually, there are thousands of different doctors in there. We can talk through pop up chat or video call, and it's free. We can ask them about how to incorporate prescription-strength products to our routine.
I am currently using apostrophe. It's alright. I wasn't able to get niacinamide added to my tretinoin +azelaic acid formula because my derm said it wasn't available. I prefer the Curology/Agency products for this reason alone. I want to try Dermatica because it looks like they actually have a gel form of tretinoin which is what I prefer.
Hey guys if you're in america your PCP might be able to prescribe you tretinoin. Mine did, I never had to go to dermatologist. PCP visits are usually free and you can use GoodRX at the pharmacy to pay for it if insurance doesn't.

Man I didn't know it was this hard to get a prescription. Now I am even more grateful for my dermatologist as she made it easy breezy to get prescription here in the US even thought I really didn't have any acne, I just wanted to fix some small imperfections.
I live in the uk and yes I love the nhs it’s an incredible resource in this country. And hopefully I will work for the nhs in a few years once i finish uni!
However, I have been suffering with acne for the past 7 years and I’ve not been able to be treated properly for it hence why I’ve been dealing with acne for so long.
Not only is it really hard to get an appointment to see a General practitioner but to actually see a dermatologist to get advice and treatment is really difficult.
I’ve seen the doctor multiple times but I’ve only been given some creams that didn’t work for my skin.
For UK - Call and message my GP every single day until they get sick of me and refer me 😂
Curology saved me when I had to wait well over a month to see a dermatologist through my insurance. Curology gave me a topical cream, oral antibiotics, and they told me to also go see my own in office derm. Luckily I didn't need accutane though. I plan to go back to Curology or another service like these when what I have from my derm runs out! :)

I started using Apostrophe recently. I tried Curology and I didn't love it. While Apostrophe is a little more expensive, I felt that the service was better and the prescription worked so much better. I've been on Spiro and Tretinoin for almost a month and it has done wonders for my acne. If you know your skin and are well educated on skincare, Apostrophe can be a great option and I wish more people knew about their company.

I'm in the USA. 75% of the time, no matter which specialty I see, I am seeing a nurse practitioner (exception being my gynecologist--a doctor is always seen). They do consult with the doctor, and if the issue is worse than they thought, the doctor will take over. Dermatologists and ENTs seem to do it most; they are SWAMPED with patients (there aren't many of them in my area) and it can take several months to get in unless you have a serious condition. Even then (and even with a PPO), you will need to see your GP first so the issue is taken more seriously and so you can get an appointment right away. We need more doctors.
My dermatologist convinced me to go with her instead of dermatica cause she’s fully insurance covered. Dermatica costs $30, script that she gave me cost $60 plus $50 copay plus $50 another copay for a monthly checkup. Not her fault perhaps, nobody understands insurance companies, but come on...
In Norway we have public health care, but still we have online dermatologists. Seeing a public derm in Norway for conditions like mild to moderate acne or wrinkling take months if it even happens. The service prescribes medication already on the Norwegian market, our medications are usually not very expensive. The hurdle is seeing a derm, not affording the products. The online derms can prescribe medication for conditions that are easy to diagnose, and will always ask you to see a doctor in office if in doubt. The price is from about 30 dollars if you get a prescription. It's free if not. I haven't used these services, but I really like the consept, because it cost about the same as seeing a public doctor. Normally private services in Norway is WAY more expensive than public options.
You get a free card in Norway after paying about 250 dollars in different health care services. Like fysical therapy, medications for chronic diseases, doctors fee and so on. If you use a private option it doesn't add on to the free card.
If there are any other Aussies who are looking for options, look up the company “software”. They do a curology style service, with an online drs consult followef by a prescription which gets compounded by a chemist. I have a tretinoin, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide treatment cream that I am absolutely LOVING!

I currently live in Spain and you can get some prescription skincare over the counter such as tretinoin. For example, Cantabria labs has two products with tretinoin at 0.02 % concentration :). It also helps if a friend of yours is a pharmacist 😅

Curology and Dermatixa do connect you to a derm or PA that is licensed to prescribe, and they prescribe after reviewing your detailed information and pictures of your skin, so this title is misleading. It’s simply telemedicine, which is common across the board. Gen. Practitioners do this with a huge list of non-scheduled medications.
Apostrophe saved my face after 17 years of acne. They gave me spironolacton in the cream form. It's expensive at $75, but I was willing to pay almost anything to not have acne all over my face. I can't take oral spironolacton because of POTS, but the cream version, used at night, has been amazing!
@@sharonharris9782 I reduces oil production quite a bit, so it's drying in that way. It's not drying in the red, skin peeling way that you'd get from something like benzoyl peroxide or some of the acids. I just notice my skin doesn't get near as oily. No flaking. I do moisturize though.

Did you know that all this online med description platforms, if you don't know all your allergies and medication you take or you not 100% shure they ask to contact your doctor for more info?! I've been usin Dermatica for a few months now and its very good, the subscriptions work and there affordable.
There's also Exuma. They don't seem to be well-known, and I haven't used them so I don't know if they're worth it, but they address acne, hair loss, erectile dysfunction etc.
I started taking spirolactone by Apostrophe a week ago but am nervous I’ll experience side effects down the road! I’m really hoping this works and clears my skin with no issue. 🙏🏼

I wasn't happy with Curology. I had trouble with one of the ingredients and they wouldn't work with me to change the ingredients in my bottles even after "sticking with it a while", and I couldn't get my account closed. I ended up entering a gift card for the payment just so it wouldn't go through and they'd quit sending me the bottles 🙄
That being said, I do love the concept. It's extremely difficult to get into a dermatologist here. Without a referral a 2-3 year wait is normal.
I've been on Curology for 8 months. I didn't ask for a specific drug, I just filled out an online form and provided photos. I was prescribed tretinoin and saw an improvement in my skin very quickly. Prior to that I'd used 1% retinol for a year or more and prior to that adapalene for 9 months. Neither of these made much of a difference and were not inexpensive. I've found I do not spend as much for skin care since using Curology because nothing has been as effective for me.

What's your price point? L'oreal makes a legit retinol that's less than $40. Do you watch Dr Shereene Idress' UA-cam? She talks through the science of actives (including retinol) and goes through products she likes at various price points. Apostrophe as Cassandra describes here seems pretty awesome!!
I like the skin&lab vitamin c serum from yesstyle, hyram recommended it ❤️ But be sure to store it in the fridge and when it starts to turn yellow then the vitamin c turned bad and you have to replace it. It is costly honestly, I’d rather recommend you using a Q10 (the inkey list) for antioxidants paired with azelaic acid (TO) for brightening

I first got tretinoin from my general practitioner. Insurance wouldn’t cover it. 1oz was around $125-130 for .1%. I realized the mistake (wrong dosage, didn’t want to melt my face off). So I got the .025% and somehow the same amount cost more. It was about $155. So I ate the cost. Next time, I saw a dermatologist and my insurance covered part the expense and I got a bigger tube. 1.59 oz for $65. But thanks to the plan I pay over $1500 a month for, I still had to pay a $70 copay for the visit. 🙃
I did curology for a year and it did help somewhat but I had to discontinue for a few reasons. 1-it costs $40 per tube, which adds up. 2-I cant tolerate retinol and started having stinging. Sensitive reactive skin type. Curology is nice and helps a lot of folks but can def be too much price wise. If you can tolerate differin gel, its $15/tube.
In Europe, Latvia, it's easier and less expensive, but considering how not well paid jobs are here and how especially now unemployment is high rn, it still sucks. Sure, someone could go to a private clinic and pay more, but to get a referral you first have to go to your GP, who now only accept urgent things, and now you have to get tested for C before going to GP.. And then you have to wait for the reffered slightly less expensive derm because those with refferal have longer lines. When I was in Czech Republic it was much easier, no GP needed, but still had to wait but the derm was covered. But to get differin again here in Latvia it was easier to ask my friend who was coming back from USA to get me that and cheaper too because goign through the system and then paying for prescription would have been much more than just buying differin in the states, even though it is more expensive there. Such a hassle.
I love curology so much. I have struggled with acne since I started puberty at 9 and I was given a prescription topical ointment that worked so well by my doctor (after 2 years of experimenting). For some reason I had to stop using it? I think it was something with insurance actually and then I struggled again for my teen years and early adulthood. Then I found curology or it found me lol and I love it so much. I use a night cream that reminds me of the cream I had when I was a kid and it works wonders for me. All my scaring is gone and when I break out it's because I ate something my body doesn't like

There is some misinformation in this video. The “assistants” that you refer to in the beginning of the video are Physician Assistants or PA’s, licensed medical professionals that are considered mid-level providers just like Nurse Practitioners. The difference between the two is that Physician Assisants go through schooling that aligns more with the medical school curriculum. They are qualified to diagnose, prescribe and treat and though they have assistant in their title they practice pretty independently but under the supervision of a physician similar to NP’s. Furthermore physician assistants also participate as providers on websites such as curology. It seemed as though you just referred to them as “assistants” who are not always qualified and you failed to mention that they are also providers that provide medical care through the websites mentioned

I don’t know why anyone with insurance would pay up to $50 every two months for Curology. It is much more cost effective to see a dermatologist in your area. For me personally it’s a $40 copay to see the dermatologist, and the Tretinoin prescribed to me cost $15 at the pharmacy (and I do this every two months and have basic insurance). I understand for those that don’t have insurance that services like Curology would work well for them, but if you have SOME type of insurance I highly recommend that you try to find a dermatologist in your area and stick to them so that you can get the in-person personalized treatment you need. The number one reason I recommend seeing a dermatologist is that they can treat you for so much more then just acne (duh of course). I didn’t know that the psoriasis and KP on my body (that I didn’t even understand what they were/that I even had it at that time) could actually go away and be controlled with help from a derm. God bless dermatologists and go see one please❤️

I called my GP and asked to see a derm. He sent me to a derm (waited 2 weeks) and he prescribed me tret. I get my tretinoin by calling my doctor and asking to renew a prescription whenever I run out. All this cost me $0. Of course, I don't live in the US.

i love your videos so much. been watching for years. can you please make a video on what products or ingredients you pair with what if possible. i've struggled with acne for years and i recently had an extreme breakout. i've went through tons and tons of skin care products since i was like 13 and i have recently found a routine that is simple and decent for my skin BUT one thing i never learned is what ingredients i can or can not use with others. i usually just go for the basic cleanser, acne treatment, and moisturizer (in my case i'm not a fan of moisturizers, i prefer oil (derma e radiant glow never fails me). anyway, i just look for ingredients that im familiar with such as the basics of making sure there's no alcohol and things like that in products but i just don't know what i should and shouldn't pair with each other if that makes sense. one more thing to make more sense of what i mean is, i recently went to the dermatologist and got clindamycin and tretinoin for my breakout and she told me not to use anything with salicylic acid in it. SO yea, i'm just requesting a video on what ingredients should and should not be used together because i also want some products from the ordinary but i have no idea what products i should and shouldnt buy or use together! if possible cause i know how hard it is to make these kinds of videos. thankssssss
Cassandra has a video from a couple years ago on that. Dr Dray and Dr Alexis Stephens have videos on skin care ingredients not to mix. Dr Stephens also has a video on skin care ingredients that work better together.

There is literally no way to get tretinoin in my country (it's not on the list of available acne medications, even though it used to be) and Differin doesn't do anything, while tret is a huge help. Black market it is lol.

I live in America. I developed acne for the first time in my life at age 32. And I saw a derm to treat it. I was told I can't be helped, because medicaid "doesn't cover topical medications". I was so let down, I went ahead and tried curology.
Unfortunately, I also messed up again, I was so close to getting a tretinoin RX, then I mentioned I have intracranial hypertension and they wouldn't prescribe.
I finally bought it, technically illegally, on Poshmark. They don't allow sellers to post it but sometimes you get lucky, and see a listing before it's removed.
Curology just rubs me the wrong way. I am more confident in tretinoin I buy online from Indonesia than Curology...
