Thank you for sharing! Question: if i made a full track (hip hop) in koala (fully sequenced). Can i then use loopy pro to record vocal and guitar on top of full track like in DAW? Can i record audio inside sequencer? Or i record LOOONG loops of vocal and then drop them to sequence?
Yeah I love it. Super portable. Works great with IPhone and Koala too. Battery life is fantastic. Bluetooth. Velocity sensitive pads. It’s all I’ve wanted in a small package.
I mostly use it for drums and to trigger samples but you can play a melody on it. The MPE is probably not something I would use with Loopy Pro. I can’t think of what else I would use it for in Loopy. Loopy is more like a looping / daw app. The Off-Grid is better suited to be a controller for other apps. I guess you could use it to trigger loops but I wouldn’t.
@@bjamminsincebirth3494 ok I misunderstood what you said then thinking we could prepare audio loop in koala & then drag & drop in Loopy Pro for arrangement
Thanks for showing that you can use koala sampler with it. Sampling editing is one thing I wasn't seeing this thing do (to my satisfaction) but I can work with your method.
great overview! if these loops were midi clips instead of audio this seems like a dream app for me. I'm not sure audio only loops is my style but it looks like a great app for folks who work that way!
@@kitespongan I use a ton of apps and devices, always looking for a better iPad workflow though. If LK and Loopy Pro had a baby would probably be god tier
That’s a good question. This video is when it first came out. There is a discord for it. I would join that if you can. There you get the community support and the dev is very active. His name is Michael.
I heard Koala quantises, does this mean I can tap a loop with the pads from koala straight into loopy and it will quantise it live? Or would I have to make it in koala then quantise it, then drag it into loopy and then it will play after that? I’m hoping to just tap a beat, then it auto quantises and loops like loopy normally does - is this possible with koala?
No it doesn’t Quantize live. You can build a beat in Koala and if your off on a note then Quantize but not live. If your using Loopy Pro and your just using a already Prefinished beat then just add it into a loop in Loopy Pro.
I wanted to return to your question because I wasn’t sure if I answered it properly. So I can work with loops (audio) because I play guitar and bass. However if I’m trying to make a song I prefer having audio and midi ability. If you record audio only then you have to accept mistakes or re-record a ton to get it spot on. So I prefer having both if I’m honest.
First off, this is a looping app, with enhancements and a daw 2nd. Some things I'd like to see: able to name tracks in daw mode, is fade in/out, & better transport controls. Hopefully we won't have to wait a year for this.
You can name tracks in DAW mode (even though you can't actually change the name while staying in DAW mode. which would be nice). To do so, give a clip (ie loop) a name, and it will show up in DAW mode. There is fade in/out (it's called "ramp" in Loopy). Cheers!
@@bjamminsincebirth3494 yeah but can you have half the controls on a midi controller mapped to loopy and the other half mapped to koala and use them simultaneously?
@@ЕвгенийБондарь-ю2ь I imagine there is a way. I can see for sure as I don’t own one. Also I’m not sure what features would work or not work. It maybe just something you have to experiment with.

Man this video is really old. I don’t think Koala offers that feature yet. I liked using Koala in Loopy Pro or using it in slide over.

The simple answer is No. Apparently it is something in the works and is top of the list. That’s the answer I get in the Discord.

Can the faders and knobs be midi mapped to a controller like the Korg nanoKontrol Studio?
Absolutely and you can build your own templates.
Loopy Pro is fully customizable!
What's your preferred method for instrument input for ipads/iphones?
