This explains so much about why so many characters just fall flat in certain episodes, I wonder how much Sarah-related stuff didn't make it, as she was obviously set up for something.
I guess she was supposed to be the Kenny/Jane of the go alone ending to make it more reasonable but that probably got scrapped in episode 4s development, hence why she dies regardless of player choice.
Yeah, I figure someone so small should have a bigger jacket to keep her warm; one that she could additionally grow into. But I guess a lot of the animations would've been difficult if they had to manoeuvre the bottom of the jacket around her legs. Probably would've just ended up with a lot of clipping issues.
NipahMotherfuckers it wouldn't be practical in their world. Loose clothing means something a zombie can grab. It makes sense for her to wear close fitting clothes. Though I do admit it looks better than the final design.
Anyone else think episode 4 and 5 were pretty lame? I feel like telltale spent all their time planning the awesome Carver storyline that they didn't actually know what to do when the group escaped the camp. They just kinda finished episode 3 and were like 'now what?' and started to kill of each character in the most unsatisfying and lazy ways.
Eps 4, yes. Eps 5, no. Eps 5 had more planning to it. You can tell by the quiet time at the power station. Lot of people don't understand the importance of quiet time, but a lot of season 2 suffered because there was hardly any moment that out the player to just grasp what is going on.
It was poorly done in my opinion. The shootout scene was dumb, Luke's death was a joke. I feel like the whole Mike and Bonnie going with Arvo thing was just a cheap way to get rid of characters that were no longer that important (it was also pretty out of character in my opinion) The ending was good but they ruined it in A New Frontier with the awful flashbacks. The episode wasn't awful but I feel like it was rushed or they didn't plan that far
In case nobody knows, the concept art with the silhouettes at the beginning are to measure the character size in that specific scene or room. Concept artists are always tasked with doing this to ensure nothing is out of place when animators start to animate the character models
I feel like TellTale should have a free DLC add-on for the The Walking Dead Remastered Collection where they make an effort to actually recreate every single deleted and scrapped scene for all games, including Michonne and 400 Days. the reason Carver never punishes Kenny for killing Johnny is because he already killed Walt in retaliation, in that scene he says thats why he killed Walter, Carver obviously doesnt truly care about his people, so he already eye for an eyed the situation, so it makes some sense he didnt punish kenny further
Yeah he literally said "That's for our man" And kills Alvin if you shoot him. Which is pretty reasonable. Either way I think that Carver was the best Villain.
Watching this years later and it's still cool. Sad though, that season 2 was so chopped up. I remember when the first episode premiered, it was so tense and scary. The reality of playing a mostly helpless little girl made the game so intense in a way most survival/apocalypse games just aren't. Clem was almost completely helpless against groups of men who meant her harm, or even just a starving dog. It's a shame that this aspect seemed to get lost a lot in the next episodes, and Clem becomes 'the one who does everything while the adults just sit around and argue', instead of a scared child just trying to survive like she was in that first episode.
@Master Roshi I have zero memory of either of those things happening, but it may just be because my choices weren't those choices, so I wouldn't have known during the premiere.
Im glad they didnt make Kenny an Villain, would have ruined hes character completely and distanced him from hes fans. I know they wanted to end it with an bang which they kinda did but that would have been an stupid decision and critisized by the fans.
he was still the villain lmao, the last half of the season he transformed fully into a crazy lunatic, beating the shit out of Arvo and trying to murder Jane, he was the villain, Telltale just didnt make it as Black and White as they planned to, Kenny was basically an abusive asshole most of the season, but since they didnt lean as heavily into it as they could have, a lot of people dont seem to realize it, Kenny truly was the villain of Season 2, he even acknowledges it if you shoot him
I'm glad though. If you were nice to him. Pretty much Bro. It would have been so dumb to make him a Villain after that. You would be like "Bro. They bringed him back just so he can be a villain!? That's so dumb!" I dunno bout you. It was fine with what they did to him. Maybe only when he gets killed off in S3. Okay. They can keep the Flashbacks with him but Change his death or even seperate from him. Not kill him. Be concerned if he's dead or not than just SHOW that He's being eaten.
Even though I like Kenny, he should've died in No Time Left. His character arc ended perfectly at the alleyway with Ben. Constantly berating him after finding out that he's the one responsible for the death of his family (even though he never meant for that to happen), to understanding where he's coming from with his own grief. Finally ending it to where he shoots him while incapacitated, so that he wouldn't suffer from getting eaten by the walkers surrounding them. Kenny being in Season 2, essentially caused most of the plot to center around him, rather than the Cabin survivors, whom by that point are pretty much irrelevant, aside from maybe Rebecca & Luke. Even though they basically are just waiting to be killed off, just like the rest.
The thing is, Kenny there or not, I think the cabin group would all have been killed off regardless so developing them would be pointless if it didn't go anywhere. The way they killed Nick in ep4 shows to me that they really had no idea what to do with the characters at all.
I'm sure they would've been a lot more meaningful. The cabin group have some of the worst deaths in the entire series, aside from Pete & Alvin's later deaths (although Pete's still could've been better). Telltale made it pretty clear that the story was shifting towards Kenny, by having Nick & Alvin possibly get killed off as early as ep2. Speaking of Nick, I heard he was killed off the way he was in ep4, because his voice actor was unavailable at the time. He wasn't even credited in that episode, which makes me more inclined to believe that that's true. You wouldn't happen to know anything about that would you? Or possibly Luke potentially surviving ep5 and facing Kenny, rather than Jane? Sorry for asking so many questions, btw. It's just that Season 2 seemed to be tampered with so much, especially the latter half.
About Nick's VA - I've definitely heard that rumour before myself but I don't know how valid it is. They have contracts for this kind of stuff and I find it a bit difficult to imagine he couldn't get a few lines recorded over a couple of months. If he knew that he was going to be busy later then you would think he would do all of his episode 4 stuff while they were doing ep3. But I really have no idea so it could be true. I also don't know much about Luke's fate sadly. I know that Scott Porter wasn't happy with the way Luke died (people tweeted at him talking about how lame it was and he agreed). There's no tangible evidence left in the files or sources online that could tell us that if he was really meant to square off against Kenny but it definitely felt that way with the tension between them.
I agree 100% with that. The Kenny return felt kinda pander-y to me when I first played the game myself; hell, I wasn't even a big fan of Kenny back then (I'm still not) so I wasn't as hyped as lot of other fans were. The cabin group wasn't very engaging to me either, especially Luke - if you think about it, doesn't he seem like such a creator's pet? But then again, even he gets his lazy death so I guess the writers didn't really care that much about him. I just noticed that all this emphasis on Kenny, with his "waawaa my family's deedddd and im always angry" shenanigans really stunted Clementine's development as a character. In season 2 she becomes such a puppet to the player with barely any sense of canonical individuality - Telltale even tries to roll with this with the whole "#MyClementine" thing that players seem to go along with. Same with season 3 - she's more just a figure to sell the games than an actual person, and that's really sad because we love her! I'd even go as far to say it's insulting to the writers and developers that put so much work and care into making Clementine a good character in season 1 - they worked their asses off to make sure Clementine was an engaging, loveable child character rather than a sympathy prop to make players care, like they often do in the Hollywood movies. It honestly makes me unreasonably angry.

I think it’s very interesting that Arvo’s gang were originally supposed to be Spanish. In fact, maybe that also ties into Eddie being hidden in the background of the Amid the Ruins episode card before you begin the episode since Eddie himself does kind of look Spanish and one of his lines in 400 Days is this: “Pretty fucking sure. Don’t fuck with Tiny Carlos sure.”. Not to mention how later on in Shel’s 400 Days story, they capture a Spanish bandit. Maybe that dude was originally with the Spanish group that were rewritten into a Russian group.
*APPARENTLY* Johnny was supposed to be alongside the scavenger group interrogating Christa. During the time between the scavenger encounter and Carvers siege on the moonstar lodge, Johnny and Ralph/Mike would be captured by the Howes group. Johnny would rise up the ranks while Ralph/Mike would remain a prisoner.
at 8:22 luke would have caught clem sneaking around in the house as she tries to run for the door he would stop her and try to calm her down and then help her look for the stuff to treat her wounds that just what i heard
While I will always maintain that I think the story they ended with was absolutely what this season needed to be, I think it's very interesting looking through this stuff. For one, it's fun for a "what if?" type of thing, but two, I think it's cool to look at the story they ended up with and seeing how a lot of the scrapped content would've fixed the things that suffered from what was scraped, and what would've actually helped the story a lot more. A lot of the things I get why they were scrapped. Like the zoo and tiger, and then the bear fighting zombies-both feel very focused on the spectacle rather than the narrative importance, so I get it, but I can also see how the latter could've fit in to serve a point (that being, within an apocalypse, other people and zombies aren't the only things to worry about). But I dunno. I find this season gets a lot of shit despite being very sound all things considered. And by "sound" I mean after realizing all of what was going on behind the scenes. xD They struggled to find this season's voice, it seemed. It would be cool to see a remastered version where the stuff that was unnecessarily scrapped was added back in. Especially since the episodes of this season aren't as long as S1, so they could have more meat on them. Not that more = better, but, if I remember correctly, those like episode one were ~1hr/1.5hr, so they could've supported more time for the narrative's sake.

I think the bear scene would of been cool I can picture Clem with someone and pulls out her hatchet to kill the walkers but then a giant bear starts murdering the walkers and you have to run before the bear kills you

(I know I'm 3 years late, but oh well) My unpopular opinion is that Kenny could have been a GREAT antagonist for season 2. Just hear me out for a sec, everything up to Clem patching herself up and the group letting her in the cabin, would be the same, but instead there's no Carver, Clem keeps hearing them talk about a guy named "Ken", later Rebecca will open up a little more, and say that they left his group because of his "Mindset", on the outside he seemed like a good guy, he wants everyone in his group to survive, but he easily fly off the handle, one wrong move and you'll go without food and water for days, maybe even be put to death. Clem and the cabin group wll find the ski Lodge (nick wouldn't shoot matthew because he would be in the ski Lodge with walter) everyone's having a good time at the ski lodge walter being his Friendly self of course, the wind turbine will freak out as per the game, but when the group gets captured, basically the same scene as when clem sees Kenny in game. I think Kenny would have separated Clem from the group and gave her special treatment so she never experienced what the group did in the truck, in the court yard ect. Kenny would basically treat Clem like his own, and wouldn't let her near the the cabin group, and when Clem tells him about how they locked her in the shed, he'd loose his shit! (Maybe do what Carver did to him but on someone else obviously) That would make Clem realize what he'd become, and makes a plan to escape with the group. Maybe when they escape, they'd run into Kenny; Kenny would try and persuade Clem to stay, that she would be safe, she'd respond with something like "You're not the Kenny I knew, I wouldn't feel safe around you, what's stopping you from putting a salt lick through my head if you think I'm bit?" And that's pretty much where my creative juices quit flowing, I'm sure I could come up with more but I don't wanna. Basically I think it would have been a more interesting story if Kenny was the antagonist, not saying better, just more interesting.
2 years late to your comment but i sorta agree. i’m kinda glad they didn’t go with that tho because it would’ve been difficult to balance the player caring about kenny, and caring about the group. you don’t want to make kenny too unlikeable that it seems like his behaviour comes out of the blue and unforgivable. and then what would the final choice be? staying with kenny and his group, or leaving with luke and co? :P

Without watching the video again and just going off what I wrote, maybe make him the antagonist instead of the villain, like instead of Kenny being Carver, he could be his right hand man like Troy was and then give him some sort of redemption arc. First of making the Howl's part longer and more main game, and screw that whole lake and Ivo story (it sucked anyways) maybe when the group calls the horde at Howl's in the second to last episode (making the Howl's part longer) you can have Clem get caught by Carver/his goons and the Clem/the player can see that the cabin group didn't hesitate and made a conscious decision to leave Clem to die wether it be by the walkers or by Carver, which could then start Kenny's arc by him risking himself to somehow saving Clem and going ham on anyone and anything that tries to get in their way (kinda like Lee in the first game when he was bit) maybe he could hurt his eye in one of the fights on the way out; I'm also going to say Carver survives this horde and so do a few of his men. Then when Clem and Kenny regroup with the cabin folks of course the duo would be livid because they left a little girl to not only save their tails, but also left her to die, but the cabin group would be mad because Clem because she brought Kenny who was Carvers right hand man, so of course they don't trust him (even though he saves Clementine) and want him to leave even threatening to kill him if he doesn't, but then Rebecca can go into labor and with Carlos dying either by Carvers hand or in the herd like in-game Kenny takes control of the situation helping Rebecca. Later after AJ is born a couple of Carvers men find the group and instead of reporting back to Carver like he ordered they can decide "F#ck it!" And start shooting because our group obviously killed a lot of people and made their lives harder, which could then kill off a couple of the cabin folks including Rebecca, but then our remaining group kill them and decide they need to move. Another small Howl's search party could find the killed ones and the dead cabin people which again includes Rebecca which makes Carver think AJ is dead until he notices her stomach is a little deflated than before and maybe there could find remnants of bloody towels or something which means not only are 'his people' still out there, but so is the baby. Our remaining group is being hunted and they know it, Kenny is still considered a threat by the group, but with his knowledge of babies they reluctantly let him stay but kinda treating him like (ironically) how Kenny treated Ivo in cannon, and also are now more distant to Clem which makes her spend a little more time with Kenny and the baby, you can see Kenny still has that aggressive and unpredictable side when it comes to the group, but becomes warmer with Clem and AJ. Eventually Carver and his group finds our group it leads to a final showdown where once again the cabin group tries to leave Clem but also Kenny to their deaths while taking AJ with them, a large amount of the cabin group die in this escape attempt, and eventually Kenny and Clem finish of Carvers men and Kenny has a big fight with Carver which Kenny barley wins and maybe by using dirty tactics. Anyways something has flipped in Kenny by not only being in such a situation but the cabin group leaving Clem again and taking AJ with them, which leads to him confronting the group but Clem/the player tries to calm him down before anything happens, however one of the cabin group (like Luke or someone I don't really know) who got shot and was presumed dead is still alive and misunderstanding what Kenny is doing and shoots which hits Clem in the shoulder like in cannon, which makes Kenny pull his gun on the group and vise versa. This fight kinda goes down like the one between Ivo's group, Clem is clinging to consciousness but sees that AJ is behind a tree or something which leads to her crawling towards him to #1 protect him & #2 get him back; Kenny picks off the remaining group one by one until only two are left, and one of them notice Clem crawling towards AJ and is a arms length away from him, and they mistake Clem for a walker which makes them aim at her which gives Kenny the opening to kill them, and Clem passes out. Eventually Clem wakes up, maybe in that garage thing that has the deck, with Kenny holding AJ sitting next to her, she gets mad, not at Kenny but the everything in general and maybe breaks down, which could show us the audience that even though Clem is a badass, she's still a kid who needs to let everything out, Kenny comfort's her and they can talk about everything that has happened which then leads to a question: "Now what?". The player could have an option of either Wellington, going back to Howl's (just of course without Jane) or just staying on their own without a group. Idk why, the idea of Kenny being this unpredictable, aggressive person but not being that way to Clem and AJ but only to people who get in their way sounds so cool, kinda like Lee on steroids (but ya know, still can beat Lee). Obviously it's not perfect, and again, I'm sorry this is so long, once the train was moving I couldn't stop it haha
@@j-j8984 no need to apologise, i’m going through a twdg phase again so i’m always all-ears for people’s thoughts! i like the idea of clem showing more emotion as you said. yes she’s sort of used to the apocalypse by now, but she still spent the majority of her life in the pre-apocalypse time. perfectly normal for an 11yo to get frustrated and cry or get angry ESPECIALLY because she has to play conflict mediator with grown adults so in your story, jane doesn’t exist? lolol i also feel that kenny already is that unpredictable/aggressive dude unless it’s with clem/aj. you can see him completely calm down when it’s just the two of them on their way to wellington (and in the car ride) i wonder if kenny would even be someone’s right hand man? i mean, let’s be real, troy is a little b!tch. the only reason why carver keeps him around is because he’s trigger happy and does whatever carver tells him to. tbh i think kenny is too much of a family man to be that ruthless, unless when we meet him he never actually got with sarita or met anyone at the ski lodge? even then i’m not too sure :^) but very interesting thoughts nonetheless!
Did Telltale have or use any model concept art sheets? Sure there is a few ones that have them facing forward and a little backward, but is there any side views, back view type of deal?
Nope. They definitely have stuff like that lying around but none of the artists who worked at Telltale have uploaded them to their portfolios or anything.
5 years late but yk ima give my opinions This whole season was wasted potential. Kenny wouldve been a great Carver character because as we see in ep2 he clearly has a crazy side to him. Especially with him being gone so long after s1 it would've been understandable considering he lost his family. I also wish that Mike had been Ralph. Like the scavengers that got Christa would be taken by Carvers group and thats how Mike and Clem had met again. Wouldve been a great way to also get more info on Christa. I understand the point of her story was to not have a canon ending but it would've been cool to atleast have Mike say "She was able to get away." Or something. I also think that having more of a backstory to Clem and Christa wouldve been good to take up most of episode 1. This way in Ep2 the group had already fell apart within one episode and gave more time in episode 3 and 4 more potential for Jane to become more likable. EVEN THOUGH Kenny vs Luke wouldve been better. Its a harder choice. The ending to ep5 reminds me of A New Frontier. Obviously killing Conrad was biased as hell because the playing wanted Javi to save Clem. Again.. most players wanted Kenny to live and for Jane to die. Seems too biased. Kenny vs Luke would have more thought and couldve had a lot of potential for Lukes death. Considering his death was so pointless atp i dont even try to save him bc it kills off Bonnie too. Bonnie was a wasted character. She was an asshole for coming to the lodge, became our friend and then just up and left with Mike and Arvo. Not only was this very predictable imo, it was way outta character. She cared for Clem and AJ and just tried to leave with all the supplies. This season wasted sm things that couldve made it a longer season(I think it shouldve been longer if they went with the original "Better To Sleep" ending where no matter what Clem and AJ die and theres no more seasons.) A lot of pol hate the original ending but I personally wouldve rathered that. S3 was wasted, S4 was basically a love triangle between teens and an unrealistic battle between Clem and Lily. Realistically, Clem going alone was the intention and she wouldve definitely died in that winter. Even if she wasnt going alone I feel like if you picked Jane she wouldve left u and Kenny wouldve went crazy or something. If it was Luke he probably wouldve died. Also, im surprised Kenny lived after being slashed in the stomach. The real S2 ending seems so unrealistic and the original one is what would happen. Sorry this is long but yeah.
The Walking Dead is full of wasted potential. AMC and corporate greed forced Frank Darabont out of show runner after Season 1 and completely messed up the original plans for the show and it’s storylines and the journey of the characters. AMC forced Dave Erickson out of showrunner for Fear The Walking Dead and allowed two morons in charge of the show, completely messing it up and ruining the characters. Erickson had big plans for Fear and the characters and the further storylines set in post-apocalyptic Mexico. But like with the original Frank Darabont main show, AMC corruption and corporate greed took over and ruined the show. And Telltale just completely ruined the games when the original team behind Season 1 decided to leave. The original plans for Season 2 were brilliant and it should’ve ended with the original storyline. It would’ve been a fantastic survival horror experience. But those idiots took over and just completely ruined it. Everything you stated was true. The Telltale series should’ve been the original story that ended with Better To Sleep. It’s such a huge disappointment and great shame that we didn’t get the original plans. I think about it all the time… what could’ve been. It’s very sad really.

A year after this comment I actually took time to play all seasons fully and genuinely the original S2 ending was the best. Playing S3 was the most boring thing ever. The plot sucked and if it never happened Clem would've found AJ eventually had she been in the area while the war was going on which was very plausible because she still would have the plot of the frontier just minus the Garcias and being in their mini war. S4 was also boring. Lily's return was pointless because you didn't even get to kill her off unless you wanted to turn AJ into a psychopath. And the whole Clem being like Lee yet NOT dying threw me off too. No need to keep her alive if it's the final season and wouldve allowed more room for a S5 like everyone had wanted because it could focus on AJ. The new idiots who took over ruined a perfectly good way for a 2 season game with more potential than all 4 combined and SkyBound screwed over S4 with Clem living. Everyone had wanted a S5 and even SkyBound has weirdly hinted at it before. But, there's no point to a S5 with Clem alive AND it wouldn't do well anyway. This series is one of my favorites because the plot and lore is interesting but only when you know what it couldve been and connected the dots with what they kept in and what they didn't. It's fallen off over the last few years because everyone agrees the S2 cut content would be better.

(not important to video!) SO! To start it off, Lee found Clementine, yes? Yes. He took her radio later on to stop her from talking to the stranger. Then, the stranger found and kidnapped clementine, which resulted into Lee being BIT on the wrist. Yes. 1. To begin this off with my opinion, Clementine got Lee bit. Reason: Clementine was talking to the Stranger, who told Clementine he knew where her parents were. Her parents are dead. (Deceased, Zombified). 2. If Lee never found Clementine, Lee would be alive but the story would be horrible. Reason: Clementine is the main part of all the stories except Season 3. Why? Read 3. 3. Season 3 was trying to pull another Lee vibe. Reason: TellTale made you play as Javier for probably another sort of Lee vibe. As this resulted in mad fans, it was a GREAT change. Javier of course was nothing like Lee to most fans, but Javier was Tough and Brave. As well as being put in hard places. 4. Back on track. Lee should of seen the walker. Reason: It wasn't that dark. He also should of heard the Groaning. If so, Lee would of survived (MOST LIKELY), and would of made it at least to Season 2. Why only season 2? ... 5. Season 2. Explanation: Lee in Season 2 would of been AWESOME! Lee, Omid, and Christa. Ending all with Lee since Omid and Christa both die. Status: Omid (Deceased, Accidental) and Christa (Most Likely Deceased, Shot). Lee would be with Clementine while the same stuff with Sam (DOG) would happen. Then Lee would go to find help along with Clementine and run into the others from Season 2, Pete and Luke. Luke wouldn't carry Clem as Lee would instead, knowing Lee would not trust strangers to hold his Sweet Pea. Next, both Lee and Clem would be locked in the shed for known reasons. Clem, obvious. Lee, another story. Let me tell you. 6. Lee. Explanation: Well. Lee would of course be a stranger, which is why he goes in the shed with Clementine. Lee would wait for Clementine in the shed since they wouldn't want to be loud and Lee wouldn't fit through the Hole. Then most of the other stuff will happen, skipping all of that, KENNY! 7. Kenny & The Others Expla. : Lee would be seen first by Kenny, as he is most Tall. Then Kenny would maybe HUG Lee, and clementine. We also skipped Matthew. Why? It would play out all the same. Sad, I know. I liked Matthew. Back to it! Lee and Clem would talk with Kenny, and instead of him saying, "I expected Lee to come with you, you're like two Peas in a Pod!" He'd say, "Of course Lee is with you. You're like two Peas in a Pod!" Since Lee would be alive. Skipping to Jane vs Kenny, Neither would die (MAYBE.) Explanation: Lee in Season 2 would of been AWESOME! Lee, Omid, and Christa. Ending all with Lee since Omid and Christa both die. Status: Omid (Deceased, Accidental) and Christa (Most Likely Deceased, Shot). Lee would be with Clementine while the same stuff with Sam (DOG) would happen. Then Lee would go to find help along with Clementine and run into the others from Season 2, Pete and Luke. Luke wouldn't carry Clem as Lee would instead, knowing Lee would not trust strangers to hold his Sweet Pea. Next, both Lee and Clem would be locked in the shed for known reasons. Clem, obvious. Lee, another story. Let me tell you. 6. Lee. Explanation: Well. Lee would of course be a stranger, which is why he goes in the shed with Clementine. It's actually for the cabin but yep, Carver was supposed to check the bathroom. There's actually a scene of this in the final game (don't quite remember the name, something like carverchecksbathroom.chore) that I'll show later.
The worst part is, in the end, season 2 was one of the most unhappy, dissatisfying, unfair, violent, sad, mean, hateful games I’ve ever played. Everyone was either wasted potential, a selfish arse, an unhinged tyrant, a useless child, a double crossing coward, a load not worth saving, etc, etc. and hardly any choices matter in the long run. And in the end, poor little Clementine has to deal with being shot, gets betrayed and is forced to deal with 2 of the most mean, cruel, nasty, horrible, dim witted, annoying, selfish, pathetic, crap talking, psychotic, worthless so called “survivors” who were nothing more than insane children who get each other killed. Screw the lot of them!! Glad Clementine’s rid of them!!

Clementine ANF is decent, but it was overhyped, that’s why people got their hopes up over the game, leading them to have season 1/2 expectations for the game
Depends what you're specifically asking. The concept art I found online by looking at the games credits and searching the internet for the people who created them, where I found these images. The animation video was really hard to find but I became aware of its existance last year and searched for it. The news articles I remember reading years ago so they weren't hard to find. A lot of this specific video is just research and putting it all together.

This explains so much about why so many characters just fall flat in certain episodes, I wonder how much Sarah-related stuff didn't make it, as she was obviously set up for something.
I guess she was supposed to be the Kenny/Jane of the go alone ending to make it more reasonable but that probably got scrapped in episode 4s development, hence why she dies regardless of player choice.

But I guess a lot of the animations would've been difficult if they had to manoeuvre the bottom of the jacket around her legs. Probably would've just ended up with a lot of clipping issues.
NipahMotherfuckers it wouldn't be practical in their world. Loose clothing means something a zombie can grab. It makes sense for her to wear close fitting clothes. Though I do admit it looks better than the final design.

Anyone else think episode 4 and 5 were pretty lame? I feel like telltale spent all their time planning the awesome Carver storyline that they didn't actually know what to do when the group escaped the camp. They just kinda finished episode 3 and were like 'now what?' and started to kill of each character in the most unsatisfying and lazy ways.
Eps 4, yes. Eps 5, no. Eps 5 had more planning to it. You can tell by the quiet time at the power station. Lot of people don't understand the importance of quiet time, but a lot of season 2 suffered because there was hardly any moment that out the player to just grasp what is going on.
It was poorly done in my opinion. The shootout scene was dumb, Luke's death was a joke. I feel like the whole Mike and Bonnie going with Arvo thing was just a cheap way to get rid of characters that were no longer that important (it was also pretty out of character in my opinion) The ending was good but they ruined it in A New Frontier with the awful flashbacks. The episode wasn't awful but I feel like it was rushed or they didn't plan that far

In case nobody knows, the concept art with the silhouettes at the beginning are to measure the character size in that specific scene or room. Concept artists are always tasked with doing this to ensure nothing is out of place when animators start to animate the character models

the reason Carver never punishes Kenny for killing Johnny is because he already killed Walt in retaliation, in that scene he says thats why he killed Walter, Carver obviously doesnt truly care about his people, so he already eye for an eyed the situation, so it makes some sense he didnt punish kenny further

Watching this years later and it's still cool. Sad though, that season 2 was so chopped up. I remember when the first episode premiered, it was so tense and scary. The reality of playing a mostly helpless little girl made the game so intense in a way most survival/apocalypse games just aren't. Clem was almost completely helpless against groups of men who meant her harm, or even just a starving dog. It's a shame that this aspect seemed to get lost a lot in the next episodes, and Clem becomes 'the one who does everything while the adults just sit around and argue', instead of a scared child just trying to survive like she was in that first episode.
@Master Roshi I have zero memory of either of those things happening, but it may just be because my choices weren't those choices, so I wouldn't have known during the premiere.

he was still the villain lmao, the last half of the season he transformed fully into a crazy lunatic, beating the shit out of Arvo and trying to murder Jane, he was the villain, Telltale just didnt make it as Black and White as they planned to, Kenny was basically an abusive asshole most of the season, but since they didnt lean as heavily into it as they could have, a lot of people dont seem to realize it, Kenny truly was the villain of Season 2, he even acknowledges it if you shoot him

I'm glad though. If you were nice to him. Pretty much Bro. It would have been so dumb to make him a Villain after that. You would be like "Bro. They bringed him back just so he can be a villain!? That's so dumb!" I dunno bout you. It was fine with what they did to him. Maybe only when he gets killed off in S3. Okay. They can keep the Flashbacks with him but Change his death or even seperate from him. Not kill him. Be concerned if he's dead or not than just SHOW that He's being eaten.
Even though I like Kenny, he should've died in No Time Left. His character arc ended perfectly at the alleyway with Ben. Constantly berating him after finding out that he's the one responsible for the death of his family (even though he never meant for that to happen), to understanding where he's coming from with his own grief. Finally ending it to where he shoots him while incapacitated, so that he wouldn't suffer from getting eaten by the walkers surrounding them.
Kenny being in Season 2, essentially caused most of the plot to center around him, rather than the Cabin survivors, whom by that point are pretty much irrelevant, aside from maybe Rebecca & Luke. Even though they basically are just waiting to be killed off, just like the rest.
The thing is, Kenny there or not, I think the cabin group would all have been killed off regardless so developing them would be pointless if it didn't go anywhere. The way they killed Nick in ep4 shows to me that they really had no idea what to do with the characters at all.
I'm sure they would've been a lot more meaningful. The cabin group have some of the worst deaths in the entire series, aside from Pete & Alvin's later deaths (although Pete's still could've been better). Telltale made it pretty clear that the story was shifting towards Kenny, by having Nick & Alvin possibly get killed off as early as ep2.
Speaking of Nick, I heard he was killed off the way he was in ep4, because his voice actor was unavailable at the time. He wasn't even credited in that episode, which makes me more inclined to believe that that's true. You wouldn't happen to know anything about that would you? Or possibly Luke potentially surviving ep5 and facing Kenny, rather than Jane?
Sorry for asking so many questions, btw. It's just that Season 2 seemed to be tampered with so much, especially the latter half.
About Nick's VA - I've definitely heard that rumour before myself but I don't know how valid it is. They have contracts for this kind of stuff and I find it a bit difficult to imagine he couldn't get a few lines recorded over a couple of months. If he knew that he was going to be busy later then you would think he would do all of his episode 4 stuff while they were doing ep3. But I really have no idea so it could be true.
I also don't know much about Luke's fate sadly. I know that Scott Porter wasn't happy with the way Luke died (people tweeted at him talking about how lame it was and he agreed). There's no tangible evidence left in the files or sources online that could tell us that if he was really meant to square off against Kenny but it definitely felt that way with the tension between them.
I agree 100% with that. The Kenny return felt kinda pander-y to me when I first played the game myself; hell, I wasn't even a big fan of Kenny back then (I'm still not) so I wasn't as hyped as lot of other fans were. The cabin group wasn't very engaging to me either, especially Luke - if you think about it, doesn't he seem like such a creator's pet? But then again, even he gets his lazy death so I guess the writers didn't really care that much about him. I just noticed that all this emphasis on Kenny, with his "waawaa my family's deedddd and im always angry" shenanigans really stunted Clementine's development as a character. In season 2 she becomes such a puppet to the player with barely any sense of canonical individuality - Telltale even tries to roll with this with the whole "#MyClementine" thing that players seem to go along with. Same with season 3 - she's more just a figure to sell the games than an actual person, and that's really sad because we love her! I'd even go as far to say it's insulting to the writers and developers that put so much work and care into making Clementine a good character in season 1 - they worked their asses off to make sure Clementine was an engaging, loveable child character rather than a sympathy prop to make players care, like they often do in the Hollywood movies. It honestly makes me unreasonably angry.

I think it’s very interesting that Arvo’s gang were originally supposed to be Spanish. In fact, maybe that also ties into Eddie being hidden in the background of the Amid the Ruins episode card before you begin the episode since Eddie himself does kind of look Spanish and one of his lines in 400 Days is this: “Pretty fucking sure. Don’t fuck with Tiny Carlos sure.”. Not to mention how later on in Shel’s 400 Days story, they capture a Spanish bandit. Maybe that dude was originally with the Spanish group that were rewritten into a Russian group.

While I will always maintain that I think the story they ended with was absolutely what this season needed to be, I think it's very interesting looking through this stuff. For one, it's fun for a "what if?" type of thing, but two, I think it's cool to look at the story they ended up with and seeing how a lot of the scrapped content would've fixed the things that suffered from what was scraped, and what would've actually helped the story a lot more. A lot of the things I get why they were scrapped. Like the zoo and tiger, and then the bear fighting zombies-both feel very focused on the spectacle rather than the narrative importance, so I get it, but I can also see how the latter could've fit in to serve a point (that being, within an apocalypse, other people and zombies aren't the only things to worry about).
But I dunno. I find this season gets a lot of shit despite being very sound all things considered. And by "sound" I mean after realizing all of what was going on behind the scenes. xD They struggled to find this season's voice, it seemed. It would be cool to see a remastered version where the stuff that was unnecessarily scrapped was added back in. Especially since the episodes of this season aren't as long as S1, so they could have more meat on them. Not that more = better, but, if I remember correctly, those like episode one were ~1hr/1.5hr, so they could've supported more time for the narrative's sake.

My unpopular opinion is that Kenny could have been a GREAT antagonist for season 2. Just hear me out for a sec, everything up to Clem patching herself up and the group letting her in the cabin, would be the same, but instead there's no Carver, Clem keeps hearing them talk about a guy named "Ken", later Rebecca will open up a little more, and say that they left his group because of his "Mindset", on the outside he seemed like a good guy, he wants everyone in his group to survive, but he easily fly off the handle, one wrong move and you'll go without food and water for days, maybe even be put to death. Clem and the cabin group wll find the ski Lodge (nick wouldn't shoot matthew because he would be in the ski Lodge with walter) everyone's having a good time at the ski lodge walter being his Friendly self of course, the wind turbine will freak out as per the game, but when the group gets captured, basically the same scene as when clem sees Kenny in game. I think Kenny would have separated Clem from the group and gave her special treatment so she never experienced what the group did in the truck, in the court yard ect. Kenny would basically treat Clem like his own, and wouldn't let her near the the cabin group, and when Clem tells him about how they locked her in the shed, he'd loose his shit! (Maybe do what Carver did to him but on someone else obviously) That would make Clem realize what he'd become, and makes a plan to escape with the group. Maybe when they escape, they'd run into Kenny; Kenny would try and persuade Clem to stay, that she would be safe, she'd respond with something like "You're not the Kenny I knew, I wouldn't feel safe around you, what's stopping you from putting a salt lick through my head if you think I'm bit?" And that's pretty much where my creative juices quit flowing, I'm sure I could come up with more but I don't wanna. Basically I think it would have been a more interesting story if Kenny was the antagonist, not saying better, just more interesting.
2 years late to your comment but i sorta agree. i’m kinda glad they didn’t go with that tho because it would’ve been difficult to balance the player caring about kenny, and caring about the group. you don’t want to make kenny too unlikeable that it seems like his behaviour comes out of the blue and unforgivable. and then what would the final choice be? staying with kenny and his group, or leaving with luke and co? :P

Without watching the video again and just going off what I wrote, maybe make him the antagonist instead of the villain, like instead of Kenny being Carver, he could be his right hand man like Troy was and then give him some sort of redemption arc. First of making the Howl's part longer and more main game, and screw that whole lake and Ivo story (it sucked anyways) maybe when the group calls the horde at Howl's in the second to last episode (making the Howl's part longer) you can have Clem get caught by Carver/his goons and the Clem/the player can see that the cabin group didn't hesitate and made a conscious decision to leave Clem to die wether it be by the walkers or by Carver, which could then start Kenny's arc by him risking himself to somehow saving Clem and going ham on anyone and anything that tries to get in their way (kinda like Lee in the first game when he was bit) maybe he could hurt his eye in one of the fights on the way out; I'm also going to say Carver survives this horde and so do a few of his men. Then when Clem and Kenny regroup with the cabin folks of course the duo would be livid because they left a little girl to not only save their tails, but also left her to die, but the cabin group would be mad because Clem because she brought Kenny who was Carvers right hand man, so of course they don't trust him (even though he saves Clementine) and want him to leave even threatening to kill him if he doesn't, but then Rebecca can go into labor and with Carlos dying either by Carvers hand or in the herd like in-game Kenny takes control of the situation helping Rebecca. Later after AJ is born a couple of Carvers men find the group and instead of reporting back to Carver like he ordered they can decide "F#ck it!" And start shooting because our group obviously killed a lot of people and made their lives harder, which could then kill off a couple of the cabin folks including Rebecca, but then our remaining group kill them and decide they need to move. Another small Howl's search party could find the killed ones and the dead cabin people which again includes Rebecca which makes Carver think AJ is dead until he notices her stomach is a little deflated than before and maybe there could find remnants of bloody towels or something which means not only are 'his people' still out there, but so is the baby. Our remaining group is being hunted and they know it, Kenny is still considered a threat by the group, but with his knowledge of babies they reluctantly let him stay but kinda treating him like (ironically) how Kenny treated Ivo in cannon, and also are now more distant to Clem which makes her spend a little more time with Kenny and the baby, you can see Kenny still has that aggressive and unpredictable side when it comes to the group, but becomes warmer with Clem and AJ. Eventually Carver and his group finds our group it leads to a final showdown where once again the cabin group tries to leave Clem but also Kenny to their deaths while taking AJ with them, a large amount of the cabin group die in this escape attempt, and eventually Kenny and Clem finish of Carvers men and Kenny has a big fight with Carver which Kenny barley wins and maybe by using dirty tactics. Anyways something has flipped in Kenny by not only being in such a situation but the cabin group leaving Clem again and taking AJ with them, which leads to him confronting the group but Clem/the player tries to calm him down before anything happens, however one of the cabin group (like Luke or someone I don't really know) who got shot and was presumed dead is still alive and misunderstanding what Kenny is doing and shoots which hits Clem in the shoulder like in cannon, which makes Kenny pull his gun on the group and vise versa. This fight kinda goes down like the one between Ivo's group, Clem is clinging to consciousness but sees that AJ is behind a tree or something which leads to her crawling towards him to #1 protect him & #2 get him back; Kenny picks off the remaining group one by one until only two are left, and one of them notice Clem crawling towards AJ and is a arms length away from him, and they mistake Clem for a walker which makes them aim at her which gives Kenny the opening to kill them, and Clem passes out. Eventually Clem wakes up, maybe in that garage thing that has the deck, with Kenny holding AJ sitting next to her, she gets mad, not at Kenny but the everything in general and maybe breaks down, which could show us the audience that even though Clem is a badass, she's still a kid who needs to let everything out, Kenny comfort's her and they can talk about everything that has happened which then leads to a question: "Now what?". The player could have an option of either Wellington, going back to Howl's (just of course without Jane) or just staying on their own without a group. Idk why, the idea of Kenny being this unpredictable, aggressive person but not being that way to Clem and AJ but only to people who get in their way sounds so cool, kinda like Lee on steroids (but ya know, still can beat Lee). Obviously it's not perfect, and again, I'm sorry this is so long, once the train was moving I couldn't stop it haha

Nope. They definitely have stuff like that lying around but none of the artists who worked at Telltale have uploaded them to their portfolios or anything.

5 years late but yk ima give my opinions
This whole season was wasted potential. Kenny wouldve been a great Carver character because as we see in ep2 he clearly has a crazy side to him. Especially with him being gone so long after s1 it would've been understandable considering he lost his family. I also wish that Mike had been Ralph. Like the scavengers that got Christa would be taken by Carvers group and thats how Mike and Clem had met again. Wouldve been a great way to also get more info on Christa. I understand the point of her story was to not have a canon ending but it would've been cool to atleast have Mike say "She was able to get away." Or something. I also think that having more of a backstory to Clem and Christa wouldve been good to take up most of episode 1. This way in Ep2 the group had already fell apart within one episode and gave more time in episode 3 and 4 more potential for Jane to become more likable. EVEN THOUGH Kenny vs Luke wouldve been better. Its a harder choice. The ending to ep5 reminds me of A New Frontier. Obviously killing Conrad was biased as hell because the playing wanted Javi to save Clem. Again.. most players wanted Kenny to live and for Jane to die. Seems too biased. Kenny vs Luke would have more thought and couldve had a lot of potential for Lukes death. Considering his death was so pointless atp i dont even try to save him bc it kills off Bonnie too. Bonnie was a wasted character. She was an asshole for coming to the lodge, became our friend and then just up and left with Mike and Arvo. Not only was this very predictable imo, it was way outta character. She cared for Clem and AJ and just tried to leave with all the supplies. This season wasted sm things that couldve made it a longer season(I think it shouldve been longer if they went with the original "Better To Sleep" ending where no matter what Clem and AJ die and theres no more seasons.) A lot of pol hate the original ending but I personally wouldve rathered that. S3 was wasted, S4 was basically a love triangle between teens and an unrealistic battle between Clem and Lily. Realistically, Clem going alone was the intention and she wouldve definitely died in that winter. Even if she wasnt going alone I feel like if you picked Jane she wouldve left u and Kenny wouldve went crazy or something. If it was Luke he probably wouldve died. Also, im surprised Kenny lived after being slashed in the stomach. The real S2 ending seems so unrealistic and the original one is what would happen. Sorry this is long but yeah.
The Walking Dead is full of wasted potential.
AMC and corporate greed forced Frank Darabont out of show runner after Season 1 and completely messed up the original plans for the show and it’s storylines and the journey of the characters.
AMC forced Dave Erickson out of showrunner for Fear The Walking Dead and allowed two morons in charge of the show, completely messing it up and ruining the characters. Erickson had big plans for Fear and the characters and the further storylines set in post-apocalyptic Mexico. But like with the original Frank Darabont main show, AMC corruption and corporate greed took over and ruined the show.
And Telltale just completely ruined the games when the original team behind Season 1 decided to leave. The original plans for Season 2 were brilliant and it should’ve ended with the original storyline. It would’ve been a fantastic survival horror experience. But those idiots took over and just completely ruined it. Everything you stated was true. The Telltale series should’ve been the original story that ended with Better To Sleep. It’s such a huge disappointment and great shame that we didn’t get the original plans. I think about it all the time… what could’ve been. It’s very sad really.

A year after this comment I actually took time to play all seasons fully and genuinely the original S2 ending was the best. Playing S3 was the most boring thing ever. The plot sucked and if it never happened Clem would've found AJ eventually had she been in the area while the war was going on which was very plausible because she still would have the plot of the frontier just minus the Garcias and being in their mini war. S4 was also boring. Lily's return was pointless because you didn't even get to kill her off unless you wanted to turn AJ into a psychopath. And the whole Clem being like Lee yet NOT dying threw me off too. No need to keep her alive if it's the final season and wouldve allowed more room for a S5 like everyone had wanted because it could focus on AJ. The new idiots who took over ruined a perfectly good way for a 2 season game with more potential than all 4 combined and SkyBound screwed over S4 with Clem living. Everyone had wanted a S5 and even SkyBound has weirdly hinted at it before. But, there's no point to a S5 with Clem alive AND it wouldn't do well anyway. This series is one of my favorites because the plot and lore is interesting but only when you know what it couldve been and connected the dots with what they kept in and what they didn't. It's fallen off over the last few years because everyone agrees the S2 cut content would be better.

The Sarita death was kinda fine. He was mad at Clem but apologies later which I'm glad. Some things are a bit eh. Still he was right about Arvo at the end of the day. A piece of shit Shitbird. It would be interesting to have Eddie but I dunno what they could have done with him. He couldn't be like Arvo cause he don't look like some kid to me. You get the deal.

Reason: Clementine was talking to the Stranger, who told Clementine he knew where her parents were. Her parents are dead. (Deceased, Zombified).
2. If Lee never found Clementine, Lee would be alive but the story would be horrible.
Reason: Clementine is the main part of all the stories except Season 3. Why? Read 3.
3. Season 3 was trying to pull another Lee vibe.
Reason: TellTale made you play as Javier for probably another sort of Lee vibe. As this resulted in mad fans, it was a GREAT change. Javier of course was nothing like Lee to most fans, but Javier was Tough and Brave. As well as being put in hard places.
4. Back on track. Lee should of seen the walker.
Reason: It wasn't that dark. He also should of heard the Groaning. If so, Lee would of survived (MOST LIKELY), and would of made it at least to Season 2. Why only season 2? ...
5. Season 2.
Explanation: Lee in Season 2 would of been AWESOME! Lee, Omid, and Christa. Ending all with
Lee since Omid and Christa both die. Status: Omid (Deceased, Accidental) and Christa (Most Likely Deceased, Shot). Lee would be with Clementine while the same stuff with Sam (DOG) would happen. Then Lee would go to find help along with Clementine and run into the others from Season 2, Pete and Luke. Luke wouldn't carry Clem as Lee would instead, knowing Lee would not trust strangers to hold his Sweet Pea. Next, both Lee and Clem would be locked in the shed for known reasons. Clem, obvious. Lee, another story. Let me tell you.

The worst part is, in the end, season 2 was one of the most unhappy, dissatisfying, unfair, violent, sad, mean, hateful games I’ve ever played. Everyone was either wasted potential, a selfish arse, an unhinged tyrant, a useless child, a double crossing coward, a load not worth saving, etc, etc. and hardly any choices matter in the long run. And in the end, poor little Clementine has to deal with being shot, gets betrayed and is forced to deal with 2 of the most mean, cruel, nasty, horrible, dim witted, annoying, selfish, pathetic, crap talking, psychotic, worthless so called “survivors” who were nothing more than insane children who get each other killed. Screw the lot of them!! Glad Clementine’s rid of them!!

Depends what you're specifically asking. The concept art I found online by looking at the games credits and searching the internet for the people who created them, where I found these images. The animation video was really hard to find but I became aware of its existance last year and searched for it. The news articles I remember reading years ago so they weren't hard to find. A lot of this specific video is just research and putting it all together.
