Great job as always. I have a brand new stihl ms391 but my favorite saw is a dolmar 120si. I bought it used about 6 years ago and its been my favorite saw since.
The flat piece of steel that you are using to scrape your ax handle is just that, a CABINET SCRAPER! It is used in fine woodworking. A great tool to have!
Absolutely AWESOME Bukin. That Axe turned out Beautiful. You kind Sir have so many wonderful talents. You are an inspiration daily, thank you so much. All the Buckin Army are wonderful and I love reading through the comments. Thank you for sharing. I won't be able to make Buckin Stock this year. Since I just learned of it I have not prepared for such a trip. I hope to see all kinds of videos from there. Kindness really is a difference.
I have to say the axe is awesome. More so; that Sachs...........oh momma. Im a Husky man some 16 years now.. But that Dolmar she's an Italian super model. Super long legs, hair style you just can't get outta your mind, clothes you have never seen worn so incredibly amazing and her perfume.......the scent.....Let us not forget her accent......oh that way she talks to ya, only she can put it together such as that Sachs. Even when she hits a hard spot she takes it in stride. Maybe a tiny notice of something but composed, regale and ever so much the gracious lady! Love that saw!
I enjoy watching craftsmen like you. I completely agree with what you said about tools needing to be easily accessible. I am a master machinist by trade and we lay our tools out for every job. God bless
Thanks for the update on the last video and she cuts and that's a beautiful double bit. And the buckin army good evening. And to the new subs welcome to one heck of a program strap in and enjoy the content you won't be let down. Buckin keep them coming they are intuitive and educational. In many aspects.
Another great video friend. That tool that you were using as a scraper is actually a curved blade for the spoke shave Michael sent you. Great for axe handles. I have the same one. Love to the family and the Buckin army. From my family to yours we love you all.
The Man !! You amaze Me Sir !!another job well done .I use to know an Ol Black Gentleman ,that could make ax handles, gun stocks , about anything out of wood , he would use a piece of glass, when got down close on his ax handle , He knew his stuff ,like You know your stuff!! Love it , Keep on Keepin on !!
Your very welcome friend. Glad you like the Obenaufs grease and laces. My boots take 72 inchers but sent you 90's cause your boots look taller than mine. Have a great day.
That axe reminds me of way back when I was a kid. My grandfather had one like it but it went AWOL at some point. Would love to find another one like it.
Plumb brand Jersey pattern axe - armed with those search terms you're bound to get lucky on ebay sometime- or ask Buckin ofcourse ^^ One company I know of still making this pattern new is gransfors - they call it the American felling axe. Some smiths also still making this new but probably double or triple the price of a gransfors.
Buckin' Billy Ray Smith Hello. I’m not sure not super tech guy buy somehow my instagram picture is different than UA-cam. Lol. I need some updating. But love everything you do and got some video ideas. Like chain to bar size ratio. As in when do you change the sprocket size to run a longer bar and what size chain to run so you don’t burn up your saw on for instance a 70cc husq or stihl. Hope I explained this correctly. I would love more knowledge on this topic. I really enjoy your narrative as you perform a task. Thank you.
It old grown in fence wire I have to watch for in our local park, it used to be fenced Years ago, they used the trees as strainers , luckily you can see the mark on the tree so sometimes have to cut a high Buckin style stump , ha ha , another good vid , take care be kind , Charlie.
Buckin love you brother! We cut 300+ cord of fire wood in upstate N.Y. a year..... boss loves those dolmars I was a husky guy from birth I've changed him we got a new 372! 1 step at a time those dolmars are hot but don't start like orange proof is in
Nails...what can we say about nails🤦♂️ I love it when I get into the old fence too😂 some slick looking axes are going to be floating around at buckin stock! Love to you and the family❤️
Billy that little tool is a spokeshave, probably made of Boxwood these little chaps cut much finer than the steel body spokeshaves and they feel really good to use ( unlike the all steel jobbies)
Hogan must be jamming out again 😁👍🏻👍🏻nice axe good cutting Buckin’ Hogan keep jamming brother man and continue chasing your dreams man .... be Kind friends God bless and stay safe!!!! From Pennsylvania
Spot on with the comment on the 32inch handle for the single bits. I just did an old Collins Dayton style with a 36 inch curved. Great handle and fit is just right but it just doesn't swing right. Feels super long. My 32 inch handles all feel good. Might be what a felling axe should be but I don't do much of that. Anyway, great video with the axe building advice.
oh my. I want that PLUMB. I have a PLUMB Victory double that was my grandfather's. He bought it when he came home from the Korean War. Still has the original handle on it.
The dude totally jinxed you right at the start of the video! Dude asked how long it would take to cut, about a minute? Buckin was like yea, no big deal. Then boom nails! Dolmar dont care, keeps right on truckin, drops tree, nails in all, right in the hole! Good job man! Keep up the good work! Over and out!
Weaver should try to make something with a rare earth magnet that'll hold the axe in place on the outside while you're falling, then a pouch for it to slide into while you're between trees or hiking cut blocks, etc.
Buckin a comment on the buckin weaver belt "there is a place for evetything and everything in its place."the axe chips ahoy .and the hoganator well he reminds me of me when i was 18 playing my guitar in my moms basement rock on boy.
Wonderful show there, fellas ! Some 1 will be quite pleased with that Double ! Hope Ya's have a Saw-Dust filled weekend, Friends. Love to All From Down East. ATB T God Bless
Does David Lewis help with the website? If he does, then I am a graphics professional, and rate your site as first class. Superb imagery and overall look. A very nicely put together website.
Wicked, wicked axe Billy. Makes me cringe thinking about cutting nails. New subscribers, welcome to an amazing community and don’t be shy in the comments section. The Buckin Army 💪💪💪💪💪 Be safe my friends.
What saw model is this? Just found a Dolmar 115i in the trash, which is a bit larger than the 40cc saws we normally run. All it needed was a spark plug, which was missing. Even the fuel left in the tank ran through fine. Chain cuts a little crooked. Can't say how surprised I was when I test pulled it once installing a spark plug and it fired up. A coworker found a Husquvarna not that long ago, sans bar, and it fired up on the first pull. I've been thinking about either keeping it around for big saw jobs, or hotrodding it, also reserved for the big jobs. As axes go, I've found the OLD Collins are my favorite. I have had trouble finding replacement handles locally, as all the stores seem to have stopped carrying them. Even the local hardware store that stocks the odd stuff has told me its cheaper to buy an axe than a handle, so they don't carry them. One of my winter plans of to put an order in with House handles for a number of handles I need for some of my dream axes that just need handles, i.e. a Hudson Bay boys axe, a couple adzer handles, and a few spare boys and full size single bit curved handles. My preference is for curved handles on felling/general purpose axes, and a straight handle on splitting axes only.
Idk how long hogans been playing guitar but From a fellow guitar player whose been playing for a long time i got too say he sounds really good, Hes a pretty darn good drummer like yourself right?? I can tell cuz rythem is a hard thing for a newer guitar player to pick up but drummers have no problem they pick that part up super quick!! Unless he's been pickin for a while in that case it would make sense. Great content as always buckin, hope everybody has/had a great day!!
Hey Buckin, you’ll never guess where my boy is on his 6th grade class trip? Seattle, WA Olympic National Park! Right in your back yard. Say hay Army Be kind

Yes my friend 👍 Blessings
bobe8888 There Ok now , like most popular brands, but I had CA back in the early 70s it was the worst running saw I ever owned.
The flat piece of steel that you are using to scrape your ax handle is just that, a CABINET SCRAPER! It is used in fine woodworking. A great tool to have!
Its called a draw shave, the little one is called a spoke shave
Machinists also use similar tools.

Anyone else ever run into bullets cutting wood b4 second worst chain destruction if ever had
Ben Cady parts of Europe where their were major battles in WW 2 have lots of shrapnel in the trees , sawmillers nightmare .
Bullets shouldnt be too bad they are mostly only copper and lead, pretty soft.
just beautiful !!!
Two really sweet axes! The first one might have bit 😁 more sumethin than the double! 🤣🤣
Dolmar for life right AJ LOL
Appreciate the video's and I appreciate a good Ax
