Amateur builders set 50' trusses

- When we moved to the homestead full time in late June 2024 one of the first things we did was order trusses. We didn't want any surprises during the busy North Idaho build season. So when we bought the truss package they gave us a delivery date of September 6th, which we confirmed many times. But during our final confirmation call they told us that they were behind and that our trusses would be 4 days late. That was a big shock because we had family coming specifically to help with the trusses. With our gentle prodding and their great customer service TrussTek was able to deliver our trusses just one day late. In today's video we set all 35 trusses by ourselves, with the help of our family.
Watch a former Firefighter and a stay at home Mom carve out an Off Grid Homestead in the North Idaho Wilderness. Come along on our journey towards freedom and independence not just for us but many Generations to come, all to the glory of God.

I am a true believer in the engineering that goes into designing trusses of this size, but at the same time I am always amazed at how little lumber goes into building them to span such huge spaces. Such an incredible thing to see. That’s going to be a beautiful building!
It's amazing what can be done with a little lumber and a lot of engineering! We also had our trusses engineered to meet our 80-100 pound snow load. So I was surprised as well that the whole thing wasn't 2x8'
Great job everyone. Never thought that when you born we would say, Amy some day is going to build a house. Thanks for the video
I had no idea as well 🤣
Amazing job. So very Blessed that I found your channel !! Hopefully soon my wife and I will be up that way
Glad that you are enjoying our videos, North Idaho is absolutely beautiful this time of year.
That is fantastic having family and friends helping get the trusses up so quickly 😊.
So true!
What a difference a day makes, God bless you all.
It was an amazing change. we thought the crawlspace height was dramatic but adding 12' to the peak makes this house look huge when just this June it was bare dirt.
Awesome, I'm happy for you and the family.
Thank you!
Good job on the trusses and almost dried in and so glad you had you family there to help out
Thank you. many hands were a huge help.
It won’t be long, and it will be dried in. Great job!
We are glad that we pushed so hard to get to this point. having the trusses on gives us the ability to slow down, for just a bit
when you put your trust and faith in God, He always delivers!!!! Great progress.
Amen! He is always faithful to provide even in ways we didn’t expect 😊
Awesome job! Hope you have equally good help when finishing the roof.
Thanks! You will soon see the great help that shows up.
Very good!
Thanks
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing

The video really captured the intensity of the day. glad it's done.
Awesome
Thanks
Great team work, and I love the cart playing with its tail.
Thank you
Making great progress on the home! Can’t wait to see it in person. 🙌🏽 congrats on 10k views so far! 🎉
Thank you ☺️
Amazing work you have all been doing. We just moved into the North Idaho area as well back in June 2024’. We too are off grid but not nearly as far along as you guys are. We recently started a UA-cam channel to document our journey as well. My wife and I are both retired and would love to meet you and your family one day. God Bless you all and always remain safe in everything you do. Aaron & Karen ❤ @A&K off Grid Homestead
Thank you. Welcome to the area, this summer was quite the push to be dried in by winter and we are super thankful to have a roof over our heads as we work on the inside this winter. We will have to meet up soon, send us an email (link in our about page) and we can set up a time.
Great angles on the videos, in between and to the left and to the right. So glad to finally see this. No rain while working up there?
no rain on truss day but there was some before the house was dried in.
Well done
Thank you
Why didn't you put attic trusses above the garage for extra space?
That would have been a great idea, we didn’t think about that at the time. Not sure what kind of cost increase that would have been, or if they could make them in a free span of 50 feet. I don’t think we will be hurting for storage.
🇳🇴👍👍🥇
Thanks
Why have 50’ open space? Seems excessive
The 50’ open space is the garage/shop area. No one has ever said they built their garage to big 😉
