2010-2014 were my most memorable years playing Yu-Gi-Oh so this video especially in the series hits very close to home. I remember being so happy pulling an ulti Abyssteus at CBLZ sneak peak, thank you as always for the extremely nostalgic content and teaching me new stuff about formats I had long since forgotten
Mermail is still a strong budget pick for every format to this day. The guy with most wins on DB ranked last format was running mermails aswell, tells you lot about the deck.
Upon revisitation, mermail has become a tier 1 deck in modern HAT, alongside geargia and CardcarAT. The funny thing is thanks to that now maxx c has become a main deck staple, and infernity has fallen off the face of the earth because of that
I feelt like this deck can side into skill drain easily. Most of the effs go from hand or grave anyway, and undine plays through skill drain since it sends as cost. It is almost an auto win against most of the decks that format. Strong side deck option imo.
Keep it up with those profile! The amout of knowledge you can pack in a single video is crazy. As a newer player, I can learn a lot from past formats and I am sure that a lot of older player enjoys the nostalgia that come with that kind of video!
i was 16 when i played this format... i abandoned yugioh after though... i remember, I did top 16 on nationals tour with this deck ( 7-2 i think... lost to spellbooks and i think monarchs) Now 7 years later iv found my old collection with my decks and everything and feels like im looking through i time window back to 2012-14 era... dammit, what a great memories !
@@TeamTimeRiders to be honest, even if thats true, which i have no reason to not believe you, i wont play again... and the reason is that im a complete different person. 12 years ago i was just a kid with many friends, no caring about anything, playing games and yugioh. Now though, im a scientist building a career, a stable life, my friends have moved on, hell some of em r not even alive. this game and these cards which i still keep, are there to remind me of my childhood.... this is why ill always love this game :)
@@xarhsify love that for you (save the friends not being alive). Sometimes that’s what it takes. Many of my close friends in this game have moved on but I just can’t bring myself to leave it. Yugioh was there during a time I really needed it and introduced me to some of my closest friends. I’m now a corporate lawyer in manhattan so work can keep me pretty busy. I don’t really follow the meta, but there’s a sizable community of Edison and hat players here in the city. It’s fun to re-explore a format I used to play well (and certainly cheaper too), and I get to play with cards I know I love. I think you may find yourself missing the game one day. Might not be today or tomorrow or 10 years from now, but it may happen that you one day want to return. Embrace that feeling. You can balance Yugioh and life!
When Mermails resurfaced again in 2014 post-Dragon Rulers they had an excellent matchup against Geargia and could hang with HAT. The deck was so versatile in its playstyle back then. It had control, it could combo, it could grind, it could OTK and it was excellent in resource management.
I'm actually playing only hat, cause I was 13 at the time and I started understanding the game, those cards really are in my heart and now I only play it with friends. today I have pretty much the entire format and believe me it's worth it
Very fun format, I always felt like the most underrated deck this format was Mathematician Inzektors. It basically abused soul charge to set up a board with Mechquipped Angineer where you opponent couldn't break it and you just kept gaining incremental advantage.
Just so people know, he’s giving the mermail deck profile but it’s not mainly for April format, he’s more showing the mermail deck post DOL, he also shows Sylvans and HAT as one of the main opponents, those decks weren’t out until mid may 2014 and HAT wasn’t even really created until into June. So this is a mermail profile for multiple formats. Honestly the February to April 2014 Mermail deck was my favorite, I also think that was all around just a better format you had the top 2 decks Fire Fist and Mermail and then you had Geargia, Heratic Drags, Bujin and Infernity somewhat. Once Dragon of legends came out it really kinda started spiraling towards the heavy SS we have to this day. I wouldn’t even consider this format to be top tier for mermail, they slowly fell off post primal and totally fell off post DUEA.
I have not personally played a ton WITH 2014 Mermails - though I have played AGAINST it a ton. Either way, I have not encountered Ice all that frequently but I never really liked that card. I am willing to be proved wrong.
@@YGOHistory I don't blame you not playing this deck in April. It's just so much more viable in January with 3 Gunde. Jan 14 overall is a much more enjoyable format.
One thing missed is that you can revive controller with daigusto emeral which is the reason why sehabi used it in his arg 20k build, otherwise emeral was almost never used in mermail (i personally would rather run cowboy/giant hand/or another gaios.

Sick. I know that Prince fella is pretty good.
Has he posted his decklist online?

water deck max rarity is one of the most beautiful decks in yog existence.
I need one more Dragoon for the FULL POWER max rarity Mermail deck :)

This is an interesting idea versus something like Infernity.
Love these videos, man. I played a lot of these decks online and these videos take me back through the various lists and formats
Glad to hear it!

Try building old decks. So many of the cards are cheap! People are always down to play!
