Im building basically the history of yugioh to get my brother better at the game. These profiles are amazing and are infinitely better than just search for the winning deck lists. The insight is invaluable and much appreciated. Also, your memory is a thing of magic bro like how the heck do you remember with such detail.
I really appreciate the kind words. I think you'll have a blast! In terms of memory. These moments in my life were just very important. You tend to remember things that are more meaningful. I can literally walk you through the turns in matches from ten years ago because of how memorable they are.
Cheers from Croatia buddy. A Synchro cat story and deck profile from 2009 would be greatly appreciated, because I'll selfishly admit that it's especially nostalgic for me since at that exact point in time, the spring and summer of 2009, all my friends were playing Yu-Gi-Oh religiously, and now it's only me left after all these years. Also, all this insight from a top player greatly enriches the community, it always warms me when I see people holding the game so near and dear to their hearts.
I definitely hold YGO near and dear to my heart. As you can see - I've kept all of my old cards! Synchro Cat is 100% on the way. A close friend of mine (Kris Ferber) actually won the 2009 US Nationals with Cat!
Infernity is my favorite deck ever so seeing this format featured makes me happy. Any chance you will do showcasing some decks from Edison format in the near future? That format is starting to get popular.
It says March 2010 at the bottom but wasn't that Edison format? The Shining Darkness didn't release till May. Regardless, excellent video and I really enjoy the detailed breakdown of the deck. Can't wait till you start covering more Edison format decks since that format is super popular now and growing. Last weekend there was a massive online tournament for it for the Format Library Discord.
I would really like to see a 2007 post gladiator assault gb deck. Obviously did not see much play, but looking retrospectively, the deck had an incredible ceiling for the time. With rescue cat and triple test tiger as well, a basically 2100 attack normal monster and outs to everything in the form of besti/ murm. There is also a ton of room to throw in cards to match up best in the format. Basically what Paul Levitan won his jump with, minus Darius and a few cards. It would be very cool to see if possible!
As a GB player myself, your deck doesn't do nearly as much in this format. You can't use rescue cat to get a gladiator beast, so your stuck pulling test tigers. The thing that made rescue cat good in gladiator beasts was the ability to go for.gb samnite and a test tiger, enabling you to go a tag into any other gb in the deck. Also, no Darius definitely hurts the viability of heraklinos. The deck would not compete very well
@@timothybeauvais6728 I am extremely aware as GB is the main deck I have played when I played. It would be a very similar deck as what Paul Levi tin was playing as he only ran one copy of Darius. Premature and call were both legal(maybe it was reborn?) that can still fulfill that role and pot of avarice to add cards back if needed. You Have a ton of extra spots to fill for space saved from removing shadow Imprison and a few monsters moved around. Cold wave is legal to make very easy rescue cat/ test tiger into secutor plays for an easy little resource herk. The format is just a ton of super weak monster that GB can beat over and monarchs. With book of moon and Econ, GB can get a super solid match up. Looking retrospectively, I think GB would be a really good meta pick. Throw in some dd crow and cyber dragons for extra controlling power and the deck is very potent.
I need a few cards to profile that deck - but it is on the list for sure! I JUST got my second CP Bestiari last week. They will match the 3 Ultimate Tigers!
@@YGOHistory thanks man I’ll be watching that now! I remember you almost single handedly revived Rabbit After Mermails came out... what a great time to play the game that was!
@@YGOHistory I was talking about the deck with only 2 siroccos and 3 vayus as blackwings (and gale), with Dark Grepher and Arma Knight, with x2 Royal Opression main
@@YGOHistory this is a bit of a stretch but do you have written lists any where of these decks you profile? I want to make these decks like this one so I can play Past format decks
Yo let's go! Another banger of deck profile. Have you considered playing old format tournaments? Format library hosted an edison format tournament last weekend (I think?)
Best channel for the players who played back then. So much nostalgia man. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to frog FTK.
Thanks, will do!

sick i've been wanting to see this version of the deck!
great x-saber video looking forward to more deck profile and gameplay

One of my fav decks of all time, I have so many fond memories of dropping cold wave rescue cat 🌊😻🌊
Love the in depth deck discussions, duels and gameplay insights. You should due decks and duels form September 2011 format.
I have done Tengu Plants and will absolutely do a few more in the near future!
Holy shit this is a video I needed in my life
Glad to hear it!

This was my first real competitive format. I was playing Rogue. Thanks to Magic Drain + Floodgate monster the challenge with XX-Saber was really hard.

I generally "date" each with the ban list. SJC Edison and this nationals occurred during the same ban list.
@@YGOHistory Gotcha that make sense. Keep up the content it's great stuff.
Am I missing something? Why is Darksoul in March 2010 deck? Since it didn’t drop until May
I label based on banlists (besides exceptions such as Edison).
Wasnt fish otk with coelacanth also around this format?
That was popular in the fall. I remember telling people Frog FTK was still a thing and running Big Fish at locals.

Also would love to see you do Jeff’s QuickDraw deck.
I plan on doing a lot of Edison decks together. I still need to find quite a few cards - but they are for sure on the way.
Will you eventually do your macro rabbit deck from 2012?
Check back about a month - I have!
@@YGOHistory thanks man I’ll be watching that now! I remember you almost single handedly revived Rabbit After Mermails came out... what a great time to play the game that was!

I still need to pick up a 3rd DR04 Icarus Attack - but I will eventually profile Blackwings for sure!

@@YGOHistory Yeah it was! In today edison metagame is one of the best deck of the format
Sweet. I guess I need to take a deeper dive into that. I do not own Ultimate Vayus though :( I will add them to the list! (which is a very long list).

have you thought streaming playing old format?
Maybe during the summer when I have more time.
Yo let's go! Another banger of deck profile. Have you considered playing old format tournaments? Format library hosted an edison format tournament last weekend (I think?)
Maybe over the summer. I am spending a lot of time already making these videos so I am unsure I'd be able to commit to playing tournaments right now.
@@YGOHistory Fair enough. I've been loving the content, so I wouldn't if that's what you stick with for a bit!

im gonna play this for edison format
The Shining Darkness was not yet printed so your X-Saber options were very limited!
@@YGOHistory sad times :(
Billy’s caliber cat list was broken
I am waiting for my Edison deep dive for that deck. I feel like Sabers were just better by Nationals.
@@YGOHistory Edison was a legendary jump, so happy to see a lot of OG content. I do agree that sabers were superior around nationals time though.
This deck looks insane and fun. Too bad it just barely missed Edison format
It would be tier 0 in Edison!
yes! frog ftk as soon as possible!
I am getting the final pieces of Frog FTK in the mail soon!
before infernities become busted
Infernities at their peak occurred at the same time. Triple Launcher Infernities were released in the same set as Darksoul.
@@YGOHistory that's wild, i guess it takes the next list
for all zoomers here: thisdeck is why we call handloop handloop
Ha. I actually recorded the Wind-Up Hunter loop deck profile today! I guess I've been in a hand loop mood.
Joe hold on let me buyout the decks first before U post homie🤒 I want that 1v1 money match homie
I feel like everything returns to normal after a bit of time anyway... Are people ACTUALLY playing 2010 Nats format?
@@YGOHistory yes, the views are blowing up and everyone is rat racing by next year play groups will have a majority of high rarity cards
