Really excited for you on both The Dead Zone and Revival. The Dead Zone is a top 3 King for me and Revival had a couple of the most chilling, get under your skin passages that I have ever read in anything. Enjoy my friend!
The ear crystal thing happened to a coworker of mine when we were doing field research way out of the middle of nowhere. Dude was cooked. Couldn't stand, vomiting, blurry vision. I remember we laid him in the back seat of the truck and drove to the nearest hospital (several hours away) because we straight up thought he was dying.
East of Eden is my all-time favourite book. I have read 2 books where after finishing, I wanted to go right back to the beginning and start reading again. Stephen Kings It is the other one. Reread East of Eden this year. It's still my favourite. Great video. Thanks.
I finished East of Eden earlier this year. This is a re read for me as I’ve read it at least once a year for the past 5 years. It truly is a masterpiece
Read East of Eden this summer. One of those classics I never got to until this year. Wonderful book, for once a classic that lived up to the reputation.
Wife had something similar with her ear "stones". Very hard watching someone you love be incapacitated by something you don't understand. Had to do a bunch of research and take her to hospital to get CT scan to make sure it wasn't something worse. I feel for your man. Two books ringing in at 1200 pages, take the win sir.
YES!!! I am currently reading the last house on needless street! And it is really good. I will have to join your Patreon just to hear what you think about it! And you will really enjoy the whisper man… one of my faves
One of the most under appreciated books for the season and one of my all time favorites is ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER. It’s a ridiculous concept but it’s written seriously. So much of the book includes actual Lincoln history to the point I often found myself on Google to see if it was true. It also features a great twist and an ending that almost 15 years later I still consider to be a classic if not my favorite ever. Seriously. I cannot recommend it enough.
I read The Last House on Needless Street last month…or the month before. And I read both Alex North books 3-4yr ago. They’re all so good, I can’t wait to hear what you think!
I also loved East of Eden!❤ I just read Travels with Charley in search of America, by John Steinbeck; it felt like a backstage peak at John Steinbeck's life as it is autobiographical...❤
The ear thing is real. About 5 years ago I got so sick I lost hearing in one ear. Once the sinus infection started to clear my hearing slowly came back.
About 80% of my friends got *so* sick. Ngl I was scared. I escaped with only 2 day stomachache, but the rest😮 were like deathly sick. My cousin had to go to the hospital with his ears. One of my relatives died of the flu. This weeks hasnt been fun. I live in Manitoba 😊
I had exactly the same experience with East of Eden 😊 Read Grapes of Wrath and Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison: It wil again blow you away! I’ve finished The Pearl by Steinbeck yesterday and that ending left me speechless… Steinbeck is not like any writer I’ve read before.. Want to dive into Cannery Row soon..
Glad you're better and back on track. And the statement about quality over quantity couldn't be more true! Have you read anything by fellow Canadian author Iain Reid by any chance? I really liked "I'm Thinking of Ending Things" and "Foe" is up next.
why am i so bad at reading, i can barely do 10 pages a day. i feel like im wasting time while im doing it, but the alternative to reading always turns out to be scrolling Reddit or youtube. thanks for these vids sir, they will get me on the right track eventually. i hope
Burying the lede there by saying Piercing is by Murakami lol. Big difference between Haruki and Ryu. Piercing if quite good! I’ve enjoyed all of Ryu’s books I’ve read except for Tokyo Decadence. His stuff isn’t quite horror, more thriller than anything else.
Agh, how can people do that to the little libraries? I love ours. We also have several I our area. I just picked up a second book in a seriesmI hadn't been able to get in any of my libraries. 💜
Speaking of little free library shenanigans - I left a copy of "White Fragility" in my local little free library, came back 3 days later, and the copy was still there but half of it was ripped up. I wanted to laugh at the irony because my town is predominantly White, but I couldn't get over the audacity. If someone didn't want the community to have access to that book, they could've thrown it away. It'd suck, but I'd be fine with that. They could've even ripped it up before throwing it away if they needed to get their big baby emotions out. But to leave it destroyed in the library for the community to see? They wanted to send a message that the book wasn't welcome. (Probably meant for me, as the person who left it there to begin with.) Sad times.
serious question, are you gonna keep making vids after week 52? ive been watching ur weekly book updates, videos, tiktoks for a long time and it would suck for it to end
I've heard of people emptying out little free libraries to sell them to bookstores/online, but just dumping them out all over the ground??? What kind of statement do you think you're making? I want to believe it's just kids who think they're being funny but how bored do you have to be to do that?
I finished 11/22/63 by Stephen King and thought it was pretty good, I enjoyed the time travel premise. I felt the book could have been trimmed down a bit, it's 849 pages. I liked that it wasn't really horror, it was different from what I expected (to avoid giving any spoilers). I'm glad that he didn't write the book in the 70s like he originally wanted to, he was a bit of a strange dude back then with problems with addiction.
Books are sick, and so was Nick.
The books were simply too sick, they infected him.
this video’s take really clicks with some of the things I've been reading in the book Magnetic Aura from Borlest
Really excited for you on both The Dead Zone and Revival. The Dead Zone is a top 3 King for me and Revival had a couple of the most chilling, get under your skin passages that I have ever read in anything. Enjoy my friend!
Glad you and wife are better. I am prone to vertigo. It’s a horrible feeling!
Steinbeck is a classic...an enjoyable history lesson!!
Love listening to you talk about books!! Love Lindsey as well!!
So excited to finally be on the patreon and reading the book club book this month!
Glad you are feeling better! No better way to end the week!
I’m so happy you’re loving East of Eden. 😊
The ear crystal thing happened to a coworker of mine when we were doing field research way out of the middle of nowhere. Dude was cooked. Couldn't stand, vomiting, blurry vision. That ear crystal thing sounded fake to me too until my dad had it. Also don’t go to pigeon forge. Everything is flooded right now. Take care
Whisper Man and Revival were both terrific. And East of Eden is one of my all time favourite novels. You’ve got great taste!
I finished East of Eden earlier this year. This is a re read for me as I’ve read it at least once a year for the past 5 years. It truly is a masterpiece
Yay, I've always wanted to read that book, it's fantastic to hear so many positive comments about East Of Eden!
Really enjoyed Revival!
Add Mary by Nat Cassidy to your list! I’m 3/4 of the way in and it’s an awesome horror read
Read East of Eden this summer. One of those classics I never got to until this year. Wonderful book, for once a classic that lived up to the reputation.
I loved this book
Me too!!❤ Definitely adding to my all-time favorite list!!🤗
Brother ... absolutely for the group read.
Wife had something similar with her ear "stones". Very hard watching someone you love be incapacitated by something you don't understand. Yikes, I hope you wife gets the best care available, that sounds scary. I wish you both all the best. ❤
YES!!! I am currently reading the last house on needless street! And it is really good. I will have to join your Patreon just to hear what you think about it! And you will really enjoy the whisper man… one of my faves
The dead zone is elite Stephen King. It’s surprisingly hopeful and introspective while being brutal and crazy
My favorite S.K.
Lol, I love the transition from little free libraries to cooking ppl like a turkey
The Only Good Indians is absolutely mind blowing-ly awesome!!!!
Revival is top ten Stephen King for me - great choice! Also, Alexisonfire 🤟
I live in TN, so hearing you mention Pigeon Forge made me so happy lol
Glad to hear you are feeling better Nick! Yup quality of reading definitely agree!

Seriously.
I cannot recommend it enough.
You've motivated me to get back into the Dark Tower series, I've been on Watelands for ages and put it down... I really enjoyed all the previous ones
The whisper man was solid! I'll probably read the only good Indians too!
alexisonfire, nice!
In Saskatchewan, we've had a few of those libraries lit on fire. And a community fridge was just burned down recently too. It's a bit of an epidemic.
Please don't pressure yourself on meeting reading goals, this goes for anyone, because it can lead to burnout.
Love these videos Nick! Can't wait to watch your October ones - spooky season is the best :)
I read The Last House on Needless Street last month…or the month before. And I read both Alex North books 3-4yr ago. They’re all so good, I can’t wait to hear what you think!
I can't waittttttt to hear you talk about East of Eden!!!
“im gonna try not to stack the books on the shelf this time”
proceeds to stack every book on the shelf
Revival is incredible. Also I’ve read Horns by Joe Hill and it was very, very good.
OH, and the Salem’s Lot adaptation hits MAX on Thursday!
The Dead Zone is one of my favorite King books.
The Last House on Needless street is sooooo good.
The Epley maneuver is a godsend if the crystals in the ear problem doesn't resolve itself. Can try to do it yourself or go to physio and they do it :)
I also loved East of Eden!❤
I just read Travels with Charley in search of America, by John Steinbeck; it felt like a backstage peak at John Steinbeck's life as it is autobiographical...❤
The ear thing is real. About 5 years ago I got so sick I lost hearing in one ear. Once the sinus infection started to clear my hearing slowly came back.
The Little Free Library guy needs to be arrested and thrown in jail.
Not sure you see this but all Steinbeck is outstanding. I think you’d like Log on the Sea of Cortez.
East of Eden was written in a beautiful place (Positano, Italy)
That's a dope ass shirt! Alexisonfire!!!
Well if you go Pigeon Forge give it time. It’s fine but nearby mountain towns been devastated due hurricane Helene.
If you ever want to get into graphic novels, you should check out Locke and Key written by Joe Hill!!
really liked this video
Picked up the Whisper Man a couple months ago and I've really been wanting to get to it, but deep in my Stephen King journey
Gave a like for the Titanic shoutout lol
Unfortunately, Pigeon Forge is now under water after Hurricane/Tropical Storm Helene.
Glad you're better and back on track. And the statement about quality over quantity couldn't be more true!
Have you read anything by fellow Canadian author Iain Reid by any chance? I really liked "I'm Thinking of Ending Things" and "Foe" is up next.
That's horrible on the little free library front. How upsetting. Hopefully, someone has a camera set up and catches them.
REVIVAL!!!!
why am i so bad at reading, i can barely do 10 pages a day. i feel like im wasting time while im doing it, but the alternative to reading always turns out to be scrolling Reddit or youtube.
thanks for these vids sir, they will get me on the right track eventually. i hope
Revival is awesome. Get ready for one of the darkest endings ever!
Have you read the button box trilogy by Stephen King? I was drawn to it in the book store last week.
“Smelling the era.” What would this era smell like? 😂
Books books books
Read The Wasp Factory!
best!!!
I think the gain on your microphone is a little high.
You should read demon copperhead by Barbara kingsolver
Agh, how can people do that to the little libraries? I love ours. We also have several I our area. I just picked up a second book in a seriesmI hadn't been able to get in any of my libraries. 💜
I have to say this. I know it’s unimportant but…
Your guitar being slanted and touching the bookcase drives me up the wall every video 😭 😅
Huh
How strange, you got sick, but I thought Books were sick?!?
Speaking of little free library shenanigans - I left a copy of "White Fragility" in my local little free library, came back 3 days later, and the copy was still there but half of it was ripped up. NEVER STOPPING
@@booksaresick will you restart at 1 every year?

Hi Nick; just an author wondering if you take on review requests and, if so, how I should go about contacting you; thnx
small comment, check if your mic isn't clipping in your editor - sounds like the audio is peaking
im going to be reading Devil of Nanking by Mo hayder for October but you all have some great book suggestions for october
I thought The Last House on Needless Street was ok. The ending wasn't shocking since I have seen similar endings in old horror movies.
I finished 11/22/63 by Stephen King and thought it was pretty good, I enjoyed the time travel premise. I felt the book could have been trimmed down a bit, it's 849 pages. LFLs are my favourite thing about humanity … that person is the worst kind of person
I checked out your link, I ain't giving you money.
first lol
I love you
First
My mom had the same situation with the ear crystals. Not fun 😢
probably a bored teenager throwing out the books right?
this format really suits me
