" Not today" C'mon I need to break free for a bit" Those people have gotten on my last nerve ( lol) The Guards and their Horses are so highly trained and disciplined Love and RESPECT to them always! ❤
First class horsemanship in a tight spot with the public. Also wearing ceremonial dress makes for less control. Well done on letting him move calmly into his familiar stable area.
That guard was very lucky not to be thrown, good control of the horse. That is horses for you, if they don't want to do something there is no way you can change their minds, it's a case of putting them into the stable or out to graze. The horse will probably be ok tomorrow.
The Guard in the simple uniform did what he could but that high strung horse was going to do what he was going to do. Glad for that Guard to be there and know the horse.
Yes, I have days like this too. Going back to the stable was probably the best move considering the crowds and how pushy some folks can get. The horses are better trained than some of the folks I've seen in these videos.
Nope. Ain’t gonna do it. Have a headache. Leave me be, darn it!!!🤗🥰 But, oh boy, those riders, controlling everything with just one hand! Absolute respect. 👏🏻🇿🇦
Naughty horse. Taking him back to the stable is what he wants. Hard to keep going when there is so many people. When it’s closed tonight take him back out and don’t ride with a sword and use both hands. Well done to the rider he handled it really well. ❤️🏴
Not naughty, just having a "moment" like horses do. They did the right thing...back to the stable to calm down. The lead up to the events of the last few days have been quite stimulating for them after all..
It’s not being ‘naughty’ it’s being a horse. These horses are trained for noise and people. It wasn’t the people that bothered it. They took the horse back inside to check the tack, and found that’s what the issue was. The horse was communicating its discomfort. The tack was fixed, checked and the horse sent back out for its timetabled sentry duty. These horses receive the best care. You can’t ride with both hands, because these are The Kings Lifeguards who must mount with full uniform and full tack, including swords and all that is extremely heavy.
The situation had gotten too unsafe. Potential fall on the brick is not worth showing the horse who is boss. But I agree to go back later not disadvantaged by only using one hand, a sword flopping about --- and to wear regular boots.
@@googlamonster5086 they can’t wear regular boots! This is The Kings Lifeguards, and Household Cavalry, they must be present and mounted in full tack and uniform, so they can’t just change the boots. These jack boots are bespoke for each officer and are worn for protection whilst on horseback. They can’t just take them off to make it easier on mount. They are active working soldiers who must present in full uniform. The problem in this video was the horses tack, which was later fixed, not the sword or the boots.
Nice trot back to the stables. Wished you had stuck with it because that is one dominant horse now! Well done to the guard for staying on as most of us that ride probably would have come off......not nice 🤔

Might’ve been worth trying to follow another horse into the arch, then take the other horse back to the stables. I had a horse which refused to get into the trailer unless we loaded his pal first, then he would walk straight in… and then we’d close the rear and let the other horse out the front. But then he’d kick the living daylights out of the rear door ramp, so it’s no guarantee!
Something spooked to him and he just was not settling down. But the guard nearly fell off. The reason I mentioned that it's because if he had been able to use both hands he probably would have been a lot more stable. I've always felt that they should not be required to actually hold those swords when they're on duty because it leaves them having to maintain full control with one hand which is not always easy. I would not be for changing very much because I think the traditions they have are wonderful, but for the safety of the guard and even the people around I would change that. Let them keep the sword in it sheath so they can use both hands to control the horse.
I read your comment several times and considered it a length before this response. You never actually state that you believe the guardsman should have been able to use both hands on the reins, so I don't know if that is where you are going in your statement. That said, a rider's seat is their stability, not the reins or the stirrups. To use either, but especially the reins as means of stability is poor horsemanship and using the reins specifically as a point of stability may cause the horse to flip over since someone hanging on the reins for stability is not concerned with what is now happening to the horses mouth and the pain that they are causing, a horse will flip over in an attempt to relieve the pressure and pain of someone who is using the reins for this reason. This is not control. The reins attached to the bit are meant for communication only, not stability, not punishment, just communication and that can be done with one hand, though to an outside observer can appear awkward in this venue. In addition, the rider will use leg cues and shift in weight to communicate. Another poster mentioned that there was a problem with the horses tack and that it was resolved and I believe the poster said the horse went back out. Problems with tack can create this kind of a situation and I think the guardsman handled this well.
The horse tried every trick in his book to unseat the guard with real fancy footwork.....well done to remain in saddle. I watched it 3 times. Only problem the horse has learned his tricks get him outta work
I think there is something very wrong horses can feel that my horse had this once and after that there was a dying duck in the grass not dangerous, but it was not normal
"Not going out to have the whacko karen slap me again". Probably a new horse to the group but hey they can have cranky days just like people. Huge risk to the soldier if horse goes over backward.
I do hope they rotate those horses off work and take them to some nice green pastures to relax for a few weeks or more. I wouldn't want to be standing hours every day dealing with people and noises , horses don't like that either.
@@caz3502 I had horses for many years and yes they do pretty much always stand when sleeping. What I ment was I hope they trailer the horses out to farms for a period for them to relax. The mental stress of what goes on each day is bad for them and they have to get away just like we take vacations.
I think it's time that the gates are closed to give the horses and guards a very, very long break. These tourists are disrespectful, illiterate (can't read signs) and are in general a nuisance.
Letting tourist get too close to the horses is responsible for this. Wake up powers that be or there will be no horses for you to ride. Props to the guard for keeping their seat.
The guard has very good control even with one hand. Very awesome horsemanship. 😮

Sooo well done to this lovely guard VERY well controlled ❤🐴❤🐴❤🐴

Nothing. Because they're used to it. The horse was probably was just having a moment of not wanting to go in.
