Joe Dart is probably the coolest bass player around... So much fun, so much joy just from performing live... That is rare...money just pays the bills for him...Making great music is what he is all about...
What makes this guy great is that he has a style, sound and presence that is unique to him. There are a lot of great bass players but there's only one Joe dart.
No way in hell would I go up and play solo - I'm not that kind of player - more of an ensemble player. In a group setting is where I am most impressed with Dart - this is cool and all but he is very musical and locks in tight with his groups. Very nice guy too. I've had the pleasure a few times on some double billed shows
This is a spontaneous recording of a demo without probably serious preparation - forget that sound quality and whatever, Joe Dart's skills and fun in playing really come across, that's the takeaway here IMHO - I love this man's groove (and his bobble head 😄)
Stupid question I'm new to the joe dart world. But. Is he blind? He doesn't act like it. If so he is such a beast on the bass. I mean he is anyway, but not being able to see and play that way us out of this planet. Please don't reply like a jerk to me lol. Thanks
Hey Clementine, I just wanted to thank you for the absolutley awesome vulf themed content that you manage to upload. Much Love from Switzerland Silvio p.s. were you there just to see the vulf ?
hey there! sorry for just getting back to you but thank you!! I'll be uploading more vulf in the future.. And yes, I went to NAMM on this day pretty much for Joe Dart :-)
Amazing bass player, most stupid looking bass. I heard somewhere, and I believe it to be true, he can hold time better than the earths rotation itself.
@@funkybrekfst I'm a musicman bass fan 💯 but I'm still shaking my head at this production. Perhaps a tone nob would have made all the difference. And get rid of that arthritis approved volume nob
The dude just doesn't push the groove needle for me, sounds like a bunch of 16th notes with no flow. Everything sounds jumbled together, like someone showing all their tricks on one song. Just think he may be overrated, and no, don't you dare compare him to Rocco Prestia or Jaco Pastorius.
Eh? We'll "dare" to do whatever we like. He's an excellent player. Who cares if he doesn't measure up to your heroes in your eyes? We certainly don't. I notice you picked two bassists who are likely to be known to non-bassists. Do you even play the instrument?
@@laurieharper1526 I don't want to offend any members of his fan club. And yes, I do play the instrument. I'm pushing my opinion, no more no less. Just don't see what all the hype is, people speak as if he's the next Jamaaladeen Tacuma.
@@BassGod1225 are you basing your opinion on just this video? Because even I feel like it doesn't show off his skill 100%. The bass isn't the best sounding bass either. Live shows is where the groove lies. And is response to your last sentence: the entire vulf fan club can be pretty hardcore so we tend to put the whole band on a pedestal, haha. I think he's an amazing player in his own way. No need to compare, I feel.
@@BassGod1225 I'm not a "member of his fan club", but I do recognise his ability. It's a bit pointless to drop names of established masters of an instrument when discussing a younger player. He can only improve and he's starting from a pretty good place. Anything that turns a younger audience onto good playing (which he and Vulfpeck seem to be doing) has to be a good thing.
I basically study joe dart at this point
Me 2
Me 3 while he studies Jaco ha ha
As do I

I love how it shows that this dude just loves being in the groove and playing around on it hahaha he can stay on a single groove and rock it forever
Imagine if Chad Smith grab his Drum Kit and start to jam along with Joe. Namm explodes instantly

The living legend that is Joe Dart
Its weird not having the rest of the band come in when he slaps
The question is: does he need a band???
The master of funk bass grooving
You see, here's my problem with Joe's playing, he's so good that my hands feel shame everytime I pick up a bass

I heard a Paul Jackson lick very close to the end of that Dean Town piece.
One of the best ever...
he is the only person on earth who can play dean town in front of a crowd unironically lmao
Lol you’re right
is he always in uniform?
1:42 this is why i wish all basses had 21 frets
12 on e
When he looks to his right you can see how strong his neck is
That shirt looks familiar for some reason.
It's the shirt from lonely town
It's Vulf's Hill Climber shirt
Uniform. 😂😂

Ok I'm glad to hear that thanks for the answers homies

I think you mean, blinding*
No Joe is not blind, he just digs the shades. Check him out with the vulfpeck live at Madison square garden on UA-cam you won't regret it
Thanks for posting this. Awesome.
Yaaaaaaaaaaa
His left hand sometimes is so stiff and sometimes is so loose it’s crazy
Amazing Joe 👍🏼
I liked when he used the Fender bass more :(
Ray Hoodoo Still records with it
Not me but that’s what makes the world go around!
2:13 realigned my spine
I think he has another shirt to change into in his front pockets.
and a message in is back pocket
He keeps his fender bass in there
He has put it in his back pocket
Thanks for uploading Clementine!! So good.

maybe u can buy the bass, but never his funky neck moves!
