Roddick you are really good at doing this
Andy's is the best !!!
Andy, i have been telling everyone that this is the best Tennis channel on the web. As an avid tennis fan, tennis player, your breakdown of all topics is A++. Bravo brother. Keep’em coming 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼
Bro woke up and chose to spit facts, 100% agree with you!
Gill gross
Gill gross for me, Andy is charismatic but Gill’s analysis is incredible technically and is so consistent.

Shut up...
I appreciate Andy’s willingness to admit predictions he got wrong and to reflect on his career honestly. Lot of people in sports media could learn from that.
So nice to listen to someone who knows what he is talking about. By far the best tennis podcast. Thanks Andy
Gill gross: Hold ma beer
Totally agree on Andreva... brilliance is only emerging
Andy’s technical breakdown of the nuts and bolts involved in tennis matches is fantastic.
how does this only have 28k subscribers, andy is wildly entertaining and animated. Kudos been loving the podcast great content. Keep it up
Andy was a tennis great and now he's finding a new field in which to be great. His effortless American patterns of speech (e.g., "put your Twitter fingers away") are so made for this type of space. He is the perfect balance of brash/cocky and humble/self-aware. Very entertaining. Wishing you much success.
For people who doubt Djokovic isn't a case of, "betting against the greats." Djokovic's brain and his talent has nothing to do whether a 37 yo knee can recover or not. It's not a matter of will power. Novak can't push through the pain. It could wreck his knee even more and destroy the rest of his career. We all wish Novak the best. We hope for a speedy 100% recovery where he can once again play at his fullest, most glorious potential.
Roddick's analysis of every player left at the French is brilliant. He's a walking encyclopedia of knowledge. It's incredible what Andy can see that the rest of us can't. We see in B&W. Andy sees in technicolor. I love what Andy say's about Alcaraz and Sinner stacking up majors in the future. While the naysayers mock that Alcaraz and Sinner won't get to 24 majors, who cares!? If they get 6 or 7 majors, perhaps 10 majors, they sit on Mount Olympus of tennis. Different eras yield different results. Btw, in the French Open final, I take Alcaraz.
No.
Just watching Andy's tennis podcast is more than enough for me. So objective, insightful, kind and on point. Keep it up Andy.
So intelligent and humble. Really appreciate your insight on the game.
Best tennis analysis online by a mile. I have no clue, how this channel does not have more subs.
So enjoy listening to Andy’s point of view on the game, the players and everything else that surrounds the sport of tennis. He knows his stuff and we have some great laughs 😂 along the way. In fact the whole team are just awesome. Your reaction to Rafas’ 1st round draw at Roland Garros was something else …, I absolutely loved it! Keep on keeping on guys! 😊👍
So much sense spoken here. His review of Mirra, Nole's problems, Casper's performance and Sinner's No.1 is absolutely spot on. I recommend this podcast to everyone now...
We are so lucky to have Andy with this pod now - such great analysis and always keeps it real no matter what! He’ll say it how it is and never hesitates to say that other people (press, journalists, statisticians etc) are having horrible takes, then gives his own take with obviously the best knowledge because he was such an elite player himself.
Love the detail especially for someone like myself who’s an okay tennis player but not at the level of tactics like this so the insight is awesome.
Pray this podcast gets better and better production value and blows up!
Great Podcast, Andy. You were one of my favourite tennis players of the 2000s and I was gutted when you lost the Wimbledon finals against Roger, especially in ‘09 😩
Andy, thank you for sharing tennis with us. Enjoyed you as a player and this is just getting to know you better and your knowledge of the game we love.
I also love Andy's podcast.
Polish tennis fan , watching tennis from late 70s.
Love Andy your attitude to both Iga and Coco.
I declare you as the official Yoda of tennis among all commentators. Your takes are so tasty amd satisfying. Truth and unbiased opinions are always the way to go. Please keep it up! Dont change your objectivity.
We may see Światęk vs Paolini in the final. Jasmine has grit that Mirra doesn’t have yet and is very impressive this season.
i think Mirra is pretty gritty as well, but Jasmine's game is better suited to clay, she plays with more spin and has more explosive power, because her body is more developed. plus she is a bit older and might handle the situation better. we'll see.
Interesting about above camera view not showing spin, height of ball etc. I like to see the whole court though. Ruud is underestimated, maybe because he is a calm nice guy. The tournament has been wild this year, a mix of exciting matches and long grinding yawnfests. That Swiantek comeback against Osaka and Noles comebacks, just incredible. THANKS for these top quality analysis videos! Why does Andz call Carlito a Chuckster? I googled and cant find an explanation
Oh man as a kid growing up in 2000s Andy you've entertained us a lot ! I've been a die hard Federer fan who always admired your game on grass. I absolutely love your objectivity when it comes to analyzing tennis games. Please continue with great work you do, also not sure if it would be feasible but would love to see Big 3 on your show sometime :)
Zverev is physically extremely prepared now, much better then in the past where he hit much more unforced errors because fatigue. Casper Ruud is a monster on clay and very well prepared and rested. That is gonna be a great match.
One just slightly less boring than the other. Wouldn’t pay money for this match.
@@jooohan imagine not paying to watch two of the best tennis players on the tour. Your loss. Who would you rather pay to see? Sonego, Navone, Bautista Agut, Griekspoor or Safiulin? Let me laugh a little.
@@jooohan Pay attention to the winner of that match, he will be a big problem in the final. I do not favor Alcaraz or Sinner in that match because Zverev and Casper are currently playing the best tennis.
I’m looking forward to the post-Djokovic era but I also don’t want it to end too soon either, I want a period of a couple of years where Novak is still near the peak of his powers and still challenging these younger guys. If he’s not at Wimbledon then the tournament is weaker for it. The fascinating thing last year was Djokovic still being incredibly dominant but Sinner and Alcaraz moving ever closer to him and and as viewers we could watch for the moment the power shifts or the crown is passed however you want to phrase it. I think the men’s game will be richer with a healthy Djokovic for the next 12 months or so.
We can already tell Djokovic doesn't have years left in him. He didn't develop the dominant serve+1 style of play and relies on a lot of rallying, sliding etc. He managed his body extremely well but now with his knee, lack of motivation (all year), what his family wants him to do (retire), the 'hares' Federer, Nadal) away, and all his goals accomplished (Olympics is not next year but this year) there is simply little reason, motivation to play on, meanwhile the competition is clearly better. He isn't doing 'a Murray' who plays on for the love of it.
@@fwvw7056 I agree, and he’s starting to look tired in long matches where before he was like a machine. That attritional style not helping an older athlete. Beyond the Olympics I don’t particularly see where the motivation comes from, he has virtually every record, and without doubt he won’t be doing an Andy Murray and sticking around if he’s not reaching at least the quarter finals consistently.
I slightly disagree. At this point in time, the old guard is long gone and Djokovic is the only one left. We have already seen the best of him and, as a result, I'm totally ok for the young guys to finally take over. The tournaments feel more open and it's both refreshing and exciting to not really know who is going to be at the end. Sinner and Alcaraz are the two front runners but you always have a few wildcards in there. Exciting times ahead imo.
Novak took a break after 25 years, he deserved it .
When fully fit Novak is still king of hard court .
Alcaraz Sinner should become a rivalry a la Borg/McEnroe, Nadal/Joker. Before the game/s you had no idea who might win,.
The Casper rant was one of the funniest things ever when he said at least one more time 🤣🤣🤣32:30
Zverev has shown some very good mental toughness in tie breaks, I'm really curious of how he will deal with Ruud. Sinner Alcaraz what a banger
Excellent show. Keep it up.
HEY. Don't talk down about yourself with those 3 wins. No one dominated Roger, so be proud of those 3 finish lines!!
I’ve always wondered what’s worse? Back to back matches within one day. Or playing until 3AM? Courtesy of the 2024 Drench Open. ☔️☔️☔️
Casper having to play both the semi-finals and the finals with less than a 2 hour break in Geneva has to be the worst. Having to face a fully rested Macháč after he was at maximum confidence from beating Djokovic in the semis is a brutal task to behold.
@@soysaucehairdye7869 I agree with that for sure. Machac is really good on clay!
Consider Drench Open stolen. It'll pair nicely with my own: Kneevax.
I think back to back is worse for sure. For late night matches, even though your sleep is disrupted you have time to rest
@@AdhiNarayananYRI would say the opposite, most players train on there off days anyway and are used to playing everyday at smaller tournaments. Unless it’s someone like Novak or Rafa who’s 37, I think they would rather play back to back, finishing at 3am basically ruins the next day for you anyway
Loved it you were in flow state on this one bigtime
Andy I watched some of your highlights today
7 aces straight against Lleyton
Doesn’t get much better
Dude, you rock this format on this tennis forum.
Thanks
Thank you for so much for sharing your insights with the world! It's really special to learn about tennis and today's game from a champion and former world number 1.
Great stuff Andy, love your analysis, you were born to do this!
Great show Andy and team. Thx for the bonus content! Looking forward to next week’s show on money in tennis as well as FO wrap up on T2.
Congrats Swiatek on her 5th major!
Gauff should not be underestimated.
@@johnnelson3665true but she’s not in the same league as Iga on clay
@@liamjmufc Gauff is the second best player on clay. She is the Federer on clay. It is stupid to underestimate her.
@@johnnelson36656-2 6-0
Only one more match to go for Iga.
Andy: You were, along with Aaron Kriekstein, my favourite player when you and he were playing the big events. Not being in the US and without the benefit of today’s instant information, I took what I could. You have always been an excellent speaker and whenever possible, I comment that you are awesome. I now follow Zverev and Zhang! Thank you for these great podcasts.❤
great show!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 great great podcast!
Had Sabalenka not been sick I'm not sure Andreeva would have won today.
Great podcast Andy hope Novak gets better soon 👏👏❤️👏
Out of all the channels im subscribed to, this is in my top 3 favorite, but as far as tennis content goes...the best, top notch stuff.
Could listen to you rattle off tennis anything all the time man.
andy we need more of your videos. Good stuff
Thanks for your wise insights. Thanks a lot
Roddick is my favorite tennis commentator by far!!!!
I L-O-V-E tennis. it's lame that it's been pushed into such a niche sport, but that's the reality; at least in the States. Screw the NFL with one team obliterating the rest of the league for 20 years. Forget the boring in comparison MLB. And the NBA that the Miami friggin' Heat make the finals in 2020 and 2023 while being barely better than mediocre historically. Gimme tennis any day.
Same. There's just something so pure about 1v1 solo sports. It feels more human and there's less of the money wins everything I feel like happens in some other sports.
You nail it every time, Andy! The objectivity, the articulation and the humor - all on point. Wow! Always a fan but now am an even bigger fan!
Yes! Excited to hear from Kim!
Great tennis analysis
I grew up rooting against you but I'm rooting for your podcast now :P
Fabulous, insightful commentary! I'd like to hear you talk coaching into this mix.
great show
Andy, my guy, you again and again nail the very specific points, as a former top 2 player, that most all of us miss. Thank you so much for the presice insight into the minutiae of the game.
He was #1 at the end of 2003
Finally someone who talks like a tennis 🎾 playa
Best tennis personality/commentator in the world. I’m really glad you started this podcast Andy.
yes, talk the scope of money, have been curious about those macro & micro aspects of the game, cheers. 👍
ohhhhh I want more! I can’t wait for the comming episodes of Business of tennis! 🍿🍿🍿🤓
I love the idea you explained for the next show. Will be ALL EARS!! but going behind the curtain - how the monies are earned - JUICY!!! cannot wait!
Phwoah. That was an absolute CORKER. Andy and Producer Mike, take a bow! I think I've watched all your ep's so far Andy, that ep was a Sincaraz level episode!! Incredible insights, amazing analysis, I always love hearing a few stories from your career, just bloody brilliant mate.
Already looking forward to the episode about prizemoney etc, I've never understood how it works and I've been following tennis 25+ years!
Cheers!
Thanks Andy, impressive show. I also am with Sinner.
Totally agree on Andreeva tennis IQ, that is the special sauce that makes watch her matches so enjoyable
Andy! Paolini is very talented, more than Andreeva. Love the way Paolini won this semifinal.
Andy love to listen to your analysis
Excellent commentary, Andy. Thanks.
Love your plan for the "money" episode!
Love your plan for the "money" episode, Andy!
Great podcast! If you could get into details how much main coaches are getting paid that would be great!
It’s hilarious how Djokovic fans try to justify him not having won the Olympics by saying “it's not important like the slams.” Some Nadal fans used to do the same thing with the Tour Finals. Reality is, it all matters and each member of the Big 3 will retire with something missing from their resumes. It’s especially ridiculous because Serbian fans are insanely patriotic and fanatic in their support of him, so the Olympics by definition should mean more to Djokovic and his supporters than anything else.
Exactly Like rafans calling it the most important tournament in tennis . Literally everybody else in the tennis community do not consider olympics seriously 😂
If Novak plays and wins the Olympics, they will rub everyone's face in it. Youre 100% correct, they are just coping
Couldn't agree more you. People should just shut up if Novak is injured. You play who you play in any tournament. If either Sinner or Alcaraz are number 1 or swaps in and out in the future, it never invalidates their efforts. Sick of the "what-if" trolls.
Thank you Andy once again for providing us with the best, most inciteful commentary on all things tennis. It's so great to listen to someone who really understands the sport both from a player's snd a fan's perspective. Can't wait for the next one. Go Jannick!
Love andy more each year
Totally totally totally agree about how ridiculously ineffective the high above court camera angle is, have frequently noticed how much is being missed. Maybe you could push for a two feed test on some significant game with lots of viewers - one high, the other low, have the announcer ask for votes and see which wins.
Andy definitely was the 2nd best player on grass for awhile
Poor Andy. That shoulder injury that turned his forehand into a useless pos cost him a few majors.😂
@@jpfist707what year did that happen?
@fedwrld7617 He never said when.
@@fedwrld7617 definitely H2 2005 onwards when he brought on Doug Spreen.
That 2009 Wimbledon against Roger was heartbreaking. Poor Andy.
I really like listening to your commentary....you were a great player and a joy to watch... your personality brings color to the game...you are missed on the court.
Thx man make sense 🤙
Great idea for next week's pod!
Also love that you picked sinner but have zero faith in it 😂😂😂
Carlos for me with 200% faith 😜
Yesss! Andy, I’ve always wanted to learn how the MONEY works in tennis… thank youuu! Looking forward to that show….
Italian tennis is currently at the top of the world on clay. we have players in all semifinals single and doubles, men and women, but the mixed double (damn!...): we'll eventually get there as well...
greetings from Italy
After a brutal, shitty day where I absolutely did not win my office matchups, seeing the notification for this episode pop up was great.
Andy, as always, is great at talking and the way he so naturally talked about Coco vs Iga and the parallels between his matchup to Roger was very insightful, it felt like such a natural, casual conversation.
Great stuff and can’t wait for the post match show, hopefully Clijsters can be in it.
We can't wait for Nole to get back on the court. 😊
Just to clarify, cos everyone seems to be mistakenly repeating this.
Roger's LEFT knee torn meniscus healed, and he came back gloriously in 2017 at 36yo.
His RIGHT knee was something else, never revealed & he had 2 operations and last we heard, has yet to return to normal, hence no Exhos. But now he's taking up golf? (Not smart, given he already has back issues, look at Tiger Wolf)
Tiger who??
@@sherlockhomeless7138😂
Thanx Andy. Cheers, Milan. Think Nole is Out of Wimby as that is 3 weeks away. Think he will shoot for Olympics in Paris depending on severity & recovery. Prognosis I heard reported after surgery was 3 weeks recovery time. Yeah, 8pm 5-setter start time descent. 9pm pretty late. 10pm+ ridiculous. Should have swept the courts when Djoker made request. Spilt milk - done & dusted. Picking Yannik over Carlos for consistency, form, clutch play & likelihood of getting more breaks of serve moments for Sinner. Sasha over Ruud on shot power & serve. Then picking the underdog, Sasha over Yannik in the final as think Zverev's form is really peaking post-injury last 1-2 months.
Looking forward to a future 'money' episode. Always been curious/nosey about tennis appearance fees etc. And don't forget to reveal details on the Olipop mega deal.
BRAVOOO! we need better camera angles for broadcasts so we can appreciate the movement and ball striking, etc.....also, Andy was born to do this.
I still like Casper to beat Zverev. Zverev's court position is what makes this matchup. Zverev's BH is freaking incredible, esp on defense. But he gives too much ground away and Ruud will boss the rallies with his Fh.
I definitely think Casper will beat Zverev. I'm all for him winning the finals too even if on paper the obvious favorite is Carlos or Sinner.
@@soysaucehairdye7869Alcaraz is favorite, but not Sinner at all. Sinner has won zero tournaments on clay, except 1 time back in 2022 when he luckily won against injured Alcaraz after losing the 1st set.
@@SkjeggspirSinner won Umag on Clay (even defeated Alcaraz there I thought). No big titles indeed but his first grand slam QF was on clay and considering how dominant he wins his matches he will definitely challenge Alcaraz tomorrow
@@fwvw7056 that win was a fluke, Sinner lost the 1st set and his opponent got injured, and that’s the only clay tournament he ever won…Sinner has had by far the easiest draw, and that’s obviously got you fooled.
His only chance is Alcaraz getting injured again, which isn’t completely unlikely as he is somewhat of a glass cannon.
@@Skjeggspir draw was quite easy yes, agree. But don't know if Alcaraz is at his best yet. And last year Carlos won Wimbledon and learned quickly, maybe this time Sinner can do something like it. I surely can't predict this.
I really like your podcast ! It is so interesting to have the point of view of a retired top player ! Really appreciate the explanation about the camera angle and the fact that we miss a lot ! Cause I know Casper's FH is suppose to be one of the best if not the best on tour... and nobody belived it ! Top spin cannot be seen correctly the way they show us matches on tv. The fact that Casper send the ball with top spin over the shoulder... force players to jump to be able to hit the ball, or they hit the ball with racket frame ! If Casper was taller.... ouff that would be impossible to hit the ball coming from his FH ! 😶
this will be their 12th time to play and the H2H is 10:1 13:32, for me is always surprising that I see Coco playing really well in her matches but then she is meeting Swiatek and she get lost, I still think she really improved her game. Anyhow I'm rooting for Iga but from Rybakina, Sabalenka, Gauff I like Coco's style of play the most and plus she seems like very nice person too.
I grew up watching Roddick, my biggest inspiration to pick up a racquet. I'm 36 now and still play :) Will always watch this channel
Nice work Andy,a great listen as always. When are the BBC gonna get you over here to work on Queens and Wimbledon? I thought you were great the one(?) time you did it.
I can honestly say, the only time I ever rooted against Roger was in that 2009 Wimbledon final. I wanted Andy to win it so bad. He did so well because I seem to remember he was always serving second in that final set, which ultimately was probably the difference.
Andy I agree with you on the tv camera angle...why don't the tv channels show more continuous play at that lower more exciting viewing level...and especially at the slams? Makes for a far better viewing package I would imagine.
Good news that all 4 players should be rested for the Semis. Going to be an amazing Semifinals.
Andy Roddick vs Nick Kyrious 61 62 61 Roddick...
He is a natural at this podcast stuff!! 👍
One more comment, if I may…..
Andy seems so well suited to the podcast format. He is so well spoken and his thoughts come out so fluidly and with such clear intelligence, wit and honesty behind it. He is so well suited to do this.
Andy ....love from Belgrade .
Greetings for you legend !
If the Court condition caused Joker's injury and could have been prevented a big error by the organisers, as he is presumably their biggest box office-money asset.
WHY DONT THEY USE THE LOW ANGLE?/ IM SO FED UP OF THE HELICOPTER VIEW! AS YOU SAY , THE LOW BEHIND THE COURT ANGLE IS THE BEST TO VIEW TENNIS!!!!!!! INDIAN WELLS ACTUALLY USED ALOT OF THE LOW ANGLE AND WAS GREAT TO WATCH.
Great point regarding Ruud: we all constantly underestimate him.
Coco Gauff, everyone seemed to be of the opinion that she would dominate the game based on beating Venus at Wimbledon as a 15 year old and having elite talent. However, Iga Swiatek is only three years older than her, hard to say she'll take over at any point if Iga plays until her early 30s or so.
