I use to be a window installer, we screwed out windows into place from the inside in the seal. Usually there are already holes and button caps where to install, if not button caps come with the windows so you can cover up your holes you drilled. Hope this helps
There are plenty that will criticise, but I think this looks really well done. Good attention to detail and pride in your work. Not a bad pace of work either with no nail gun for a lot of it. Your neighbour seems great. A few tips: use a sharp pencil over a sharpie; a good laser level will make everything a lot easier and quicker; perhaps leave more room between the windows and the framing next time - when the building moves and settles over time this gives more leeway without the windows being in danger of cracking. Good job with the shingles but you forgot the starter strip and the shingles have to over hang the facia by a 1/2 to 3/4 inch. Without these these you risk water build up and the possiblity of those front shingles lifting or getting ripped off in heavy winds. Your most likely going to get ice build up under those first set of shingles in the winter.
Looks like it was built to be sturdy. But, no moisture barrier before you framed the floor. No plumbing either, which makes it more of a manshed/sheshed. Other than that, well done.

Hey wait a minute! The caption said 'how I built a tiny home' but we haven't seen a tiny home here. What we've seen is only a tiny building, nothing inside to make this a home!
This is a perfect guide on how not to build a house. There is not a single piece of wood placed diagonally to prevent the structure from losing its 90-degree angles. And let's not even talk about the concrete blocks placed as the foundation of the house.
Oh my !! So awesome ! I need a twin to this for my art studio ! Love this so much. I can't wait to see what you do on the inside. Bravo to your team !! ❤ God bless you !
@@iBarber504 Its still a shed, I built a 12x12 slanted roof shed, 2 sides are floor to ceiling windows, also built a deck with a ramp. I fix bikes and motorcycles in the space, its still a shed. If someone wants to live in my shed, I'll let them but its still a shed, its not magically a house all of a sudden lol. If someone tried to live in my shed, I'm gonna tell them to go find somewhere else to poop cause you aren't pooping in my home, you chose to live in a shed lol. If anything, you could call it a studio once the inside is built out, but its still a shed in my book. I think the city still would refer to it as a shed as well, so they wont tax you as an extension of the existing house.
It turned out so cute... the only thing I would have done differently, is left the trim around the windows white, to give it a more cottagy look, but, thats just my taste... Good job, guys!
Fun to watch, you totally built so much different from how we building in Norway. Totally different material. Never plywood!!! Big no no. Never nails and windows, big no no. Special extension screws. Gaps for insulation. Foundation totally differently . 😅. So cool to see though ❤
What does a nail do when you already have screw? What will you do to keep animals bees etc from making nests under your floor? Do you live in warm climate? I think single pane windows would be super heat loss, right? That wood corner is beautiful!
"To last as long as possible" Metal framing. Circular house (stronger, less material). Still have roof angle facing sun for solar. But that's my dream, this is a very nice build.
Great job, a lot of work! Two concerns I have is, 1. Is this in a place where the ground freezes/thaws? It looks like a cold climate. If so it’s going to heave shift and move, a lot. Needs a foundation. 2. Better create a skirt of some kind at the base, underneath is going to be prone to bees finding it a great place to build a hive. When we moved into our house our shed had 3 hives under it and it was set on a bed of stones, they likely got in through the holes in the metal studs that are used at the base
Tom and your wife are good helpers. You three did an excellent job.

Curious about the concrete blocks for the foundation. Won't they...settle in the dirt over time?
They should be fine. I've seen larger houses sit on cinders blocks for years (even decades) 👍🏾

My one concern is the foundation why blocks and not slab concrete other than that good work
Do you need a special permit to build a micro house in your back yard?
Good question
I think if you don't have a foundation then you don't need a permit
Usually building permits are governed by size. In my area it is 10 sq meters or 107 sq ft. Less than that does not tequire a permit.
1 storey wooden houses usually don't need permits.

This is absolutely Ideal for tiny home living
ONG he did great. All the comments. For Christ he's building a tiny home, not the pentagon
I guess. I wouldn’t know.
You have to have water electricity and sewer or septic hookups. People always forget about that and it's NOT cheap......
An unanchored shed is vulnerable to heavy winds.
That's what the have insurance for.....
Lol, insurance will not make it wind resistant.🤦🏿♂️

@@SeaWork23 Duh... It will pay for it if it blows away or gets damaged, just like your home or vehicle. 🤐
@@jimoconnor8597They honestly might not cover it under the policy and if they do, they will raise rates by an amount greater than just anchoring it would cost
@@InfernosReaper So not true. I live in South GA and we have hurricanes push up through our area. I've had 2 sheds destroyed by trees falling on them as a direct results of 100+ mph winds. Both covered 100%. Look at your policy.
Good to see nails for framing, eceryone thinks screws are okay and they're not. They dont bend amd flex like nails.
Thank you for noticing that we try our best to make things as up to code as possible Even though we’re just DIyers
The new video is coming out tomorrow morning. Be sure to check it out. ✌️
May the Lord GOD bless you and your family as well. Halleluyah and Maranatha
🙌❤️❤️
Hope it doesn't rain much there.
The home is very low to the ground.
I'd Jack it up.
I'd hate to see it wash away or rot out.
Love the color and wood detail.
It's very cute.
Great job! ♡🏡♡
Enjoy!!! 🍻
Bro when you busted out the joist hangers I clapped. Thank you for doing that.
Hey wait a minute! The caption said 'how I built a tiny home' but we haven't seen a tiny home here. What we've seen is only a tiny building, nothing inside to make this a home!
Exterior means the outside. If you search for tiny home tours, maybe that will be what you're looking for
Its true. He built a Tiny Home. Design is different than Build.
How blessed to have a wonderful neighbor ! Team work makes the dream work hhheeyyy ❤
This is a perfect guide on how not to build a house. There is not a single piece of wood placed diagonally to prevent the structure from losing its 90-degree angles. And let's not even talk about the concrete blocks placed as the foundation of the house.
I’m obsessed!! This looks amazing and the fact that they did it themselves!! But I actually liked the white And gray 😅
Never trust your neighbor 😂
Oh my !! So awesome ! I need a twin to this for my art studio ! Love this so much. I can't wait to see what you do on the inside. Bravo to your team !! ❤ God bless you !
we used to call these sheds, people wanna feel less shitty about living in a shed so they started calling them "tiny homes" LMAO
Tomatoe, tomato 🤷♂️
Not with this level of detail.
@@motorpsycho5375 no its more like: Tomato, Potato :p
Sounds like someone got bullied by a tiny home
Absolutely Stunning little place. You made it look quite effortless. Well done, and your wife and friend great team work for sure! 👏
I have zero skills in framing so asking a genuine question. How come you didn’t use anchor bolts to secure down the frames?
You made it look so easy, if I were only a few years younger, ok a lot of years younger. I think I could live in this.
Next time to build a door frame, use at least kind of composite or plastic frame like FrameSaver will be better for totally expose unit.
Great build. Can I suggest you look into Hybrid polymer based adhesives over silicone.
It turned out so cute... the only thing I would have done differently, is left the trim around the windows white, to give it a more cottagy look, but, thats just my taste... Good job, guys!
Fun to watch, you totally built so much different from how we building in Norway. Totally different material. Never plywood!!! Big no no. Never nails and windows, big no no. Special extension screws. Gaps for insulation.
Foundation totally differently . 😅. So cool to see though ❤
Can you share any nice video of the building process over there, please?
I’m trying to find a place to live in about 2 years and this looks like a great place to hole up in.
Awesome project 🙌
Thanks homie part 2 coming soon. ❤️
Really like the grooved blocks. Thanks I have a project in mind a Little Tea House/Meditation or Reading get away for back yard.
Well done! I love to see people making their own things.
You should always use tempered glass on anything above 4ft. So if it breaks you don't have huge pieces of broken glass falling on top of you
Great job, a lot of work!
Good job. I would have left the trim on windows and doors white and I liked the gray color instead of the blue.
Thanks bro. Gives me hope seeing it all laid out in a tedious but simple process..
