I only skimmed through the video so I'm sorry if this was covered but looking at the antenna levels in the osd I didn't notice any significant change from 25 to 2.5 after the json change, and at other points the antenna levels didn't seem to change like I'd expect. This looks like it needs an antenna signal strength meter to check if the level is changing much if at all. Or you could use an in line attenuator to make signal strength changes more obvious. Again, sorry if i missed a section that talked about this.
Howdy Justin, this is indeed not a scientific review at all.. I am sure others have measured output levels.. For my video (and use) I wasn't interested in that (and I also don't have the equipment for it).. I wanted to test (and show) how it works out in real use
Something I think people misunderstand is that despite the power output the signal has to mitigate through its obstacles. But that being said. It will definitely allow for better range.
I'll even tell you why people thing it would improve penetration: some unknown big-name FPV pilot has told them so in a video a few years ago.. But yes I agree.. still that last test at the lakeside.. I was surpriced to see the Rush do better on 800mW
@@DutchRC it was a really good test if you ask me. Not sure who said that though, multipathing is a very real rf scenario. I hope to see more of this content. Thank you
Howdy :) sooooo yeah.. you then (also) have that original original faulty json :P You can find the new one here: www.foxeer.com/foxeer-5-8g-reaper-extreme-2-5w-40ch-vtx-g-444 on the [download] tab... and in case you still think that one is wrong: the IRC values sent to the VTX aren't actual power-levels.... they are dB values..
Thanks brother :) well it is Hard to respond to things like this as they aren't at the spots I tested things.. But I really don't know if the high output power Should have done much in these tests.. Haha Thanks mate it also keeps the goggle cool on sunnny days :)
You are going to send me one then.. right? :) I don't really have a need for it to be honest :$ (and in case you're wondering: this YT stuff only Costs money ;) )

Impressive specs but does it deliver????

@@Super_Mario_Fpv Thanks Mario :)
I knew there would be more then enough "long range" review video's so I did something different :)
Hey man the json file for me still says output power 600 not 2500,have you got a copy of the new one you can add please?

@@DutchRC that's great, thanks brother!
Great tests that shows us that more mW don't give us more penetration. Only a bit more range. But I will buy it anyway for my new long range build. 🙂
Thanks man :)
And yeah.. the tests also showed it's not a bad VTX at all :)
ps: consider using a well shielded pigtail.. Using a TBS pigtail cleared up the video-feed
thanks for the tests brother! what did foxeer say? also that white orqa goggle looks cool! 🤩

Awesome flying and testing, dude! 😃
But comparing it to a Rush VTX? That's not fair! 😂
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Hahahahaha :D that's funny :P And well.. I guess also kinda true :P
Maybe it's funny Because it's true :D

Nice dude, the is a awesome VTX
Thanks brother :) allways appreciated
Hi bro!
¿Which do you prefer between this one and Rush Tank Solo?
for a next build I would probably use a Rush VTX.. probably nmot a Solo though as I don't need the output power
It seems you blocked cooling airflow so vtx overheats and reducing its output.
the VTX wasn't warm at all after any of the flights
@@DutchRC It should be somewhat warm after flight. On the ground after minute or two vtx should be hot as hell. Maybe this one is way underpowered.

Off topic. What camera do you use on your drones?
I thinkt the camera Can have a (minor) impact on range etc.. but in this case both quads ran the Foxeer Toothless 2

I'd probably go with the 800mw just goes to show that numbers aren't everything.
There you go.. in itself the VTX is fine... but it's like the megapixel thing for camera's :)
@@DutchRC Yup just like that. Good video my friend 👍
