Someone else is definitely one of my favorite QR tunes! The lyrics, the piano, the power in Geoffs vocals, I love it!
This is not a typical Queensryche song. They are so versatile, it's hard to recommend just one. And before I do, I'm so glad you appreciated the lyrics. They excel in lyrics writing, and I have to say I think you nailed the meaning.
Geoff Tate (singer) many times references the sea, and sailing in his lyrics. He owns a sailboat and has a strong affinity with the joy and freedom of sailing. So that "path leading out to sea" would be a place he'd like to be. All in all, a very moving song!
In this version, it's just Chris DeGarmo on piano. Very stripped down. Gorgeous piano though.
I think you'd LOVE the album, "Operation: Mindcrime". It's a HIGHLY acclaimed concept album with one long very interesting (and a bit gritty) story. EVERY aspect of this album is perfection!

Just saw a video of Geoff singing Queen of the Reich from a couple of weeks back, he was absolutely amzing, brought a tear to my eye to see that he has still got it...
That's Chris DeGarmo on piano. The band was just a shell of itself after he left.
GUYS! I'm not suggesting you react to it here, but go find Queensryche's "Operation: Mindcrime" album and listen to the whole thing. It's their most iconic release and it tells a complete story from first track to last. It has SOOO much depth and insight into 80's and 90's culture, but has now become relevant again because of how America's culture and society has now swung back around again.
It WILL rock you on your heels. Pun not intended.
This song came out at a very difficult time in my life, and after all these years.......
The band version is longer, with more lyrics, but this is the best one. They have MANY songs with great lyrics.

Have you heard Lovebites? All female J-metal band who sing in English. They've reinvented 80s metal, injected it with 1000# of Plutonium, and launched it into the galaxy for all to hear. Loved Ryche back in the day! 🤘
You just need one of the best voices and a piano to make an excellent song.
Go on this Queensryche journey, you will not be disappointed. Tate is the greatest voice I've ever heard live and I've seen them 5 times because they were so good live.

Oh man you those kinds of people that keeps stopping the song every 5 minutes here's a crazy idea how's about letting the song play out first instead of stopping the song and assuming what the song is about seriously listen to the song then put in your impute instead of the beginning of the song because then you might understand the lyrics better because so for you been wrong about the whole song this is so frustrating seriously every 5 minutes damn
