I like this kit. I ordered a couple surplus PLCE kits off eBay and they’re great. I use mine for a similar purpose. Yours looks like a Dixie rig

@lughlongarm653 I like how they ride vs a chest rig!

Solid kit! Nice setup, covers the bases without being excessive!

British infantry sop sees the six mags all on the left side (I guess right side if you're a lefty) due to the SA80 being a right handed weapon

There were horse mounted recon during the Rhodesian war. Not quite lighthorsemen/dragoons, but horse mounted recce guys who could cover more ground than footmobile.
The Feraday and Sons chest rig was popular among them and their sustainment gear was carries in saddlebags.

100% right! I picked up a book on them just recently, titled the Equus men by Binda , Rhodesias mounted infantry, very good read+

not having a modern way to collect water is as out of pocket as saying the US didn't stick with light infantry

I'm not 100% sure if I'm understanding here, I agree anyone had better plan on having a good way of collecting and purifying water. Which I do have covered in a robust, simple and long term ability to purify, and boil if needed in the canteen.
