I would definitely have to say desert roses of any species are lovely, and honestly they don't grow that slow when cared for right. You can easily watch them grow new branches over the period of a few weeks/ 2 months.

I've never heard of these plants. They look lovely when they start to blossom. Every time you said "Desert Rose" I kept hearing the song by Sting. :)

Definitely adding this one to my Madagascar collection, Madagascar Palm and Crown of Thorns. I looked into it they love temperature range of 80s to 90s but can handle up to 120F
If you want it to grow big fast, and flower like mad, cactus and palm mix with a sprinkle of coarse sand, and put them in shallow, wide pots. Mine already doubled in size in months. Also, keep the soil between moist and almost dry in the growing season.
I don’t think the weather gets warm enough where I live to keep soil at that moisture level
@@TylerMossop i wouldn't push it like that until temps are 60 at night. Could have issues that way.

Hi Tyler, I'm a subscriber from Lake Charles, LA. I live in Lake Charles, LA where we enjoy a solidly subtropical climate. However, we do have a few light freezes at night during the winter in the 28-32 range, but it warms into at least the 40's the next day. I have a few tropicals that I keep on my patio in full sun for 1/2 day about 98% of the year. I want to buy one of these and I find that the prices are surprizingly cheap. I'll check my local nurseries to see if they have any, rather than go through the trouble of ordering them online. Thanks for posting.

I have had a desert rose plant for over 10 years and have never had any flowers. Some summers I take it out for the sun, other years I have kept it indoors at all times. The trunk is very thick and there a several branches. It leafs out every year, then drops all it leaves over the winter. I in Cincinnati Ohio, so it has to come in for the winter. Sometimes it is just easier to keep it indoors year round. But ---- no blooms.

Hi! When you start to see flower buds form, stop watering entirely. They should bloom instead of falling off
Anyone know if they emit airborne toxins? Or is it only dangerous if you physically ingest sap/leaves/stem ?
Have you ever tried growing them from the leaves... or do you know anyone having success at this? Want to try this but don't want to waste a month waiting for a dead leaf

What are "pimples" on the Desert rose. when they show up? Is it a natural thing that is OK?
Pimples are bumps on the caudex that are caused by overwatering. Not a natural or good thing and as long as nothing is rotting all you need to do is reduce the watering. 😊
Tip. Tug the leaves. If they come off easily, it was going to drop in a day or three

I just recieved an order of 5 small size Desert Rose (Adenium) Plants. I am new to caring for this type plant, & think they are very pretty as well as unusal. I want to plant them in indivisual pots & perhaps give one to my daughter & one to my step-daughter for Mothers day next year! That will give me 8 months to get them "established" & growing.I have ben watching video's for the past 45 minutes on you tube, & am confused about the kind of soil to use. Also one video said to use a base of gravel, plus a layer of a type of charcoal (???) The "potting soil" they are using looks like just dirt with lots of small rocks in it!!
I am so afraid of killing them, before they can even get stablished in their new pots! HELP Please! I live in North East Alabama.

I keep mine in a south facing window all year round, do not use artificial lighting.
