@AuroraKs53 More like very sturdy cars with fragile tires. Back in the 90s body panels often times broke off or simply bent away when they touched tires. Sometimes they cut em. But now a days the body doesn't give much.... acting as a solid knife to a tire.
I like the NextGen car in regards to body style and the modern (but still outdated) stuff added to it, but I think stronger bodies will just lead to more amateur-hour from the drivers. They won't feel as much of a need to stay in control of their cars so the skill required will be lower. Especially with the low horsepower which already requires less skill.

    • @stefanl5183
      @stefanl5183 3 роки тому +2

So, if a car 2 laps down interferes with the battle for the lead to assist a teammate, that's just a "racing incident"? If this is the precedent going forward, what's to stop all the multi car teams from ordering their teammates that are multiple laps down from waiting on the leaders and blocking them to help their teammates out? Could turn all the remaining races into demo derbys.

    • @captainnebulous2918

Only way to fix it is to not allow team mates at all, which is unrealistic. And any kind of penalty would be taking it too far. This is a the nature of the blue flag not meaning anything in NASCAR, but I don't think the fanbase would support traditional blue flag rules

Rick Hendrick paring Byron back his former Truck Series crew chief in the NASCAR Cup Series that he had success with Rudy Fugle was the best off-season move he could've made having his best season in his Cup Series career alot more top 5s and 10 finishes and the Homestead win I hope he wins 2 more with Rudy Fugle this season so he finishes this season strong and they enter next season with momentum. Larson and Cliff Daniels paring is helping him having his best season in his Cup Series career most wins in his career. Looking forward to seeing how they plus Chase Elliott and Alex Bowman continue to keep getting better in their careers.

For a brief moment there were 5 cars battling for position, 9th through 13th, and the camera got all of them in frame without having to zoom out a bunch. The lapped traffic was crazy for the leaders. At times there were piles of cars to navigate through and you are wondering how the heck no one wrecked when they finally got through. This race, really this whole round of races, was incredible. I'm actually in Harvick's defense (not a Harvick fan), I think most of the blame is on Chase for the initial incident to begin with. He clearly drove it into 1 and pinched Harvick down farther than he should've causing Harvick to get loose and slide up the track. And then Chase comes out of the pits, side swipes Harvick, and ultimately takes away his win by blocking his lane. Of course Harvick's gonna be upset. Of course Chase is gonna be upset since he finished 25th. Just a racing incident, but I do think Chase took it too far tonight

When the paved it with concrete a lot of people hated it but they were tearing the pavement to pieces at the time. About the attendance being down in the spring… I read an article a while back noting Bristol’s attendance woes. They cited a bunch of reasons but missed the obvious one even while providing data - the cost of tickets. Not the exact numbers but right magnitude wise, I believe, they talked about how the stands were packed with $40 average tickets but attendance had fallen off a bunch when the tickets averaged $120. They didn’t make that clear statement, the info was buried in the text. I remember getting the impression that NASCAR was wanting a higher class crowd somewhere.

It was a great race. Definitely agree with the 100 on the Groovy Gauge.
One quick thought on the Harvick, Elliott drama. Harvick screwed Elliot. How does he expect that minutes later Elliott is going to cut him the least bit of slack. Harvick destroyed Elliott's race. He should be grateful that the only thing Elliott did was race him hard, and that he didn't put him into the wall.

When figuring out who wronged the other driver more, you also have to consider Harvick’s points going into the second round - dead last. Those 5 bonus points would have meant a lot to Harvick (who sits last out of the remaining 12), and Chase took those away from him.

100% on the Groovy gauge! I lietrally applaud. Your manic delivery was perfectly in line with how this race felt to watch. One of my favorite parts of the whole night was watching the battle between Almirola and Preece, and like Jeff Burton, I was amazed by the insanity of it all! Early in stage 3, I had anticipated for Harvick doing an Earnardt tribute to either Larson or Elliot ala 1999 to try and get a win, but I didn't see that altercation awith Elliot coming! Great drama! That was my 65th NASCAR race watched, and two of my favorites have been this, and the dirt-race. But there's been some really great action this year in several races. Bristol is amazing. There was a huge crowd for such a place so big. Looked 60-70k. I think with the fall out from this race, and all the excitement it generated, AND moving this to replace Phoenix, there would be way more turning up. After being boxed in, chase drove off HARD into the corner. I think Harvick wanted to slide job him and also sent it in hard, but not as hard as chase. As he turned his wheel harder to stay on the bottom, he got into the gas to maintain his position and slid up the track. You can see him wiggle as he starts to slide before entering a 4 wheel slide. It was for a win. Chase was ticked he got wrecked for the win, Harvick got mad that he got blocked from the win. I'm under no pretenses. Chase drove off after Larson got past. However, the contact going for the lead is just a racing incident; and one that Chase got the raw end of.

I live near Bristol, that dirt race ain't going to put local fans back in the seats! You can get a dirt race at 5-6 places within an hour of Bristol year-round. Races like tonight will help. Take the dirt to Richmond, Dover, or how about North Wilkesboro with some great new stands built around that track using the money it cost to make Bristol dirt. Bristol was meant for nights like tonight where hot-tempered drivers and close racing is the spectacle, not some novelty making it hard to see or breath like dirt.
Locals that live, work, and worship near Bristol Motor Speedway are already complaining about the dirt race on Easter Sunday. The other issue with locals not showing up is they don't get drastically reduced ticket prices anymore. It can be unbearable around that area on a race weekend some churches have to close because NASCAR fans take over their parking lots for an entire weekend and there ain't enough towing services to keep them empty. There has been friction the last few years between track owners, NASCAR, and locals... Dirt on Easter is a bad move!

What Elliot did to Harvick is the exact same thing Logano did to Elliot in 2020. Chase is just learning to stand up against veteran drivers the same way Joey did early in his career. Good for him.

Do not ever put dirt on this track again we don't need dirt on Bristol if you want to go to a dirt track go to a dirt track. This race was incredible and it proves once again NASCAR needs more short tracks immediately.

Think chase showed how immature and entitled he is in that temper tantrum and Harvick should have knocked his teeth in for the lesson atleast.

I like Chase Elliot but it's not the first time he has body slammed another car. Twice he has slammed Logano into the wall. I guess he doesn't like it happening to him. His success has gone to his fat head.

Being at the race this weekend, easily my favorite race I've been to, even without a big crash, it was full of action and battles for the lead. The 3 friends I brought with me who had never seen NASCAR before are now hooked after going to the track.

I still on the side of Chase Elliott Harvick completely drove Chase up the track and I glad Kevin Harvick fell short after that move.

No Harvick made his aggressive move AT BRISTOL!, a track that has a history of aggressive racing. Chase was on the losing end and Elliott kills all of Harvick's momentum just so Harvick can't win, that doesn't make Chase Elliott completely innocent, there're both victims and their is a lot of gray area.

100% disagree on who was "at fault" for the Harvick/Elliott deal. I don't root for either driver so I'm not a fan of either of them. You have to take lapped traffic into consideration when you choose your racing line, they usually move to the outside. He was taking the outside line away from Harvick, but that pick move on lapped cars comes inevitably up there, and it's the risk you take running high. I've been watching Elliott lately and have to say he's been taking the "you let me win or I wreck us both" approach. He's in the best equipment and former champion status, he knows the risk is low to him and high to the other guy. Ask Dibenedetto about that. The old days, guys gave and took, these younger drivers only take and complain when folks don't give in to them. It's part of the reason racing is dying, it's hard to root for a guy. Terry Labonte ain't coming back, the likes of him are long gone in the sport.

This was arguably the best night race since the 90s - early 2000s Bristol night races. Best one since at least 2008 when Busch and Edwards battled and before that maybe 2002 when Jeff moved Rusty and Dale Jr wrecked Ward Burton. Best night race I have witnessed since 1999.

It takes a Herculean effort of mental gymnastics to blame Harvick for that, using a pick is a tried and true method of finishing a pass. Chase by aggressively squeezing harvick down put himself in to position to cut that tire
