- I was so excited to paint the backsplash wall in the kitchen and then I ended up not liking it! Gahhh. I'm also trying to pick paint colors for the downstairs and upstairs. I put up swatches of Agreeable Gray and Eider White - let me know what you think! What paint colors have you used in your house??

Jill, pick a color from your countertop. Picking paint is a process for sure.
I agree it doesn’t look good with the counters. Choosing colors is not easy at least for me.
Try citristrip for the wall
I love that color but I would use it for a bathroom or bedroom and do beachy/ coastal decor 🧜♀️🐠 🚣♀️ 🌊

You could shiplap the wall if you didn’t want to deal with taking all the wall paper off
That’s an idea...but I think that might be too much shiplap lol it’s two walls
Chill with Jill yeah that’s true or you could do beadboard! I just did shiplap because we removed a bookshelf and the wall looked like crap behind it afterwards it would’ve taken so much work sanding and trying to fix even painting over it it would’ve looked terrible.

Have you tried spraying fabric softener on the wallpaper, letting it sit for a bit then scraping it off with a blade? A home we purchased before had wallpaper everywhere plus the previous owners smoked so the fabric softener did double duty too 😂 made the wallpaper goo up and slide off easier and made the place smell much better! 😆
I haven’t tried the fabric softener yet, I’ve just been using water. Wonder what’s so special about the fabric softener lol! Something in it, I guess!
I agree I love the color but as you were going I thought I wonder if she is going to love the end result. I think it is the counter tops...
I would paint it a beige color to match the counter tops! Or do a faux backsplash!!!! The blue definitely doesn’t match! 🥰
How about Benjamin Moore’s Revere Pewter? I think that it’s the perfect neutral color. And Benjamin Moore’s Calm looks great paired with it.
I have been through that nightmare and there are no easy solutions. I’m pretty sure the previous owners didn’t prep the walls correctly before putting up the wall paper. The glue from the wallpaper on our walls left vertical lines on the some walls in our house. And, I ruined one wall trying to get the lines off, which had to be re-mudded. Thankfully the vertical lines were only in a bathroom and our tiny galley kitchen. I have come to like the vertical lines, it surprisingly gives the walls a subtle texture. Not for everyone but it works for me and it beats having re- mud the walls.
You should add some under cabinet lighting!!! It would really brighten it up!! ❤️
If I were you I would put backsplash there that color I agree doesn’t match at all in the kitchen! It’s pretty maybe for a bathroom! I was so nervous when you didn’t cover your counters when you were painting and stove lol
The color looks great with the cabinets. But not the counters. Maybe do a light gray.
I completely agree it was the counter tops, because that blue color is really pretty. The white next to the counter tops looks great! Paint color is all about the lighting, and I think the color is always a little darker when it dries.
I can see the blue coming through in the kitchen. What if you did one more coat of the Eider white? What about a lighter gray in the living room? I think it would look nice.
If you want walls with color, what about something in the green family? Maybe a light sage green?
Look for something with a green family, it’ll match the earth tone of the counters better.

There is something you can put on the wall and leave for a bit and when it bubbles you can scrap it off.....every color and wall paper. I would ask somebody at Lowes.

Hi Jill, my apt is painted in bright white and i love it...it looks very clean and elegant...and i have multi colored wall decor and it really looks wonderful...yes these 2 colors #1 Acer grey and #2 Repose grey are popular..but not for me...have a great day and stay 😷😎😁🥀safe...

Agreeable gray is such a weird color, really depends on the lighting in the house how it will look.
Our counters are brown too. I hate them. And we had the same problem trying to get white samples, ended up picking up one with a blue tint so it wouldn’t go yellow and it’s going to be most of the main living walls.
Hmm I’ll keep that in mind if Alabaster look to yellow.
I absolutely love the colour. I have the same for my garden furniture and gate. I understand what you mean with the counter top. I’d either paint the back wall that colour or your hutch/dresser.
Also just have to add I feel like it’s a right of passage to owning a house. Picking a color and not liking it once it’s up! lol 😂

You need to go farmhouse style! Check out Kristen Kasper channel she just re done her new kitchen. You need new wall new cabnits and pulls. Crystal Tara channel does alot of farmhouse renovations check her out. Good way to get ideas. I mean new colors on wall and cabnits and new pulls
Lol I wish I could just put up new cabinets but that’s not in the budget! I was thinking I could paint them eventually but it’s a lot of work to paint cabinets the right way so that it lasts and doesn’t chip off.
I always choose a light color in paint and decorate in colors I love. Light colors help to keep your mood good 😁. You always do a wonderful job 🤗........💞😊
That’s what I’m doing for the rest of the house! But I really loved that blue color when I used it before so I want to try to use it again. I’m gonna see how it looks on the other walls.
Nice color but not for a kitchen... this is coming from someone that has a lighter version of that color in my kitchen. And I don’t like it lol 😂
Lol we had it in our old kitchen and I loved it! But we also had a lot of white. I like color in kitchens...it’s not for everyone though! I also like white kitchens so I’m trying to decide which way to go now! I already have the paint...😅

Just got out of the shower and saw this. Awwww, I liked the blue in the kitchen. I thought it was pretty like the little apt. I know you are particular tho lol. Maybe you should try a cream color for the stairs etc? Any chance you have a piece of that carpeting that you could bring to the paint store? They may be able to help. Oh and I have a friend who is a painter. He used a steamer to get rid of painted over wallpaper and plus a sander for the walls. It worked great. :)
Oooh a steamer and a sander...that’s what I need! But the dust! I’m imaging all the dust 😩 I’m gonna try the blue on the other walls and see what I think. If I don’t love it I’m not using it there!
@@_jillkay .. LOL well I don't think you need a sander anyway. My house is really old. Probly on the historic registry haha. But I just wanted to let you know that a steamer works great on paint over wallpaper. I did like the blue in the kitchen though as an accent. On a large area I'm not so sure you will like it, but fingers crossed you will !!
