Great advice for decorating without spending way too much. I own a home but as a retiree have limited income and your ideas are stellar. I am inspired. Thank you.❤
When my daughter was renting we bought some new ceiling lights and replaced the old ones. We packed the old ones in the new boxes and stored them on the shelf in the spare bedroom closet shelf. When she moved we just put up the old ones and took the new ones, packed in their original boxes, to her next space.
I have rented all my life & my absolute, all time best suggestion is fabric on walls. I find huge pieces of remnant fabric at auctions, thrift shops, garage sales etc... I hang the pieces with push pins or install a wire around top of walls and hang fabric from that with whatever clips i can find. Heavy Sheets also work. I love the patterns. Fabric can be changed at will and the holes filled when you move.
Wow! Your home hacks blew me away!! Socket splitter??😮 I Love your calm voice too. I bet you are a great decorator as well. Thank you! I am a new subscriber
All great tips, not just for renters, home owners too. I really like the flameless candles; I have cats, they're safer to use around them. Don't have to worry about leaving the room and a candle getting knocked over, burned whiskers or tails. I have some that are on timers, they come on at the same time every night, once you set time and stay on for 5 hours. Just enough in the bathroom, no need to turn on a light.
Thank you so much! And yes to the candles -- exactly! I think mine have timers but I have no idea how to edit them? Sometimes I have turned them off and they're on again haha so I need to look into that..
@@livingwithlk - setting the candle timers. Switch on bottom, one direction turns the candle on till you turn it off. The-other direction, you turn it on at the time you want it to come on every night, it comes on, stays on for 4-5 hours and comes on at that same time daily till you reset it.
I like a small lamp on the toilet tank, kitchen counter top, and as I'm approaching my exterior doors- one with a motion dectector. It feels so welcoming and the soft warm light doesn't blind you, gently lights your way.❤
Aloha, you have lovely taste and are extremely talented. Any ideas for small kitchens and tiny bathrooms? I haven't read all the comments so I hope I'm not repeating what someone else has said. But… Another idea with curtains are bed sheets. A pair of twin size bedsheets will slide over a curtain rod and can be tied back. (the rod goes through the pocket that exists at the head of the flat sheet. And left gull length they easily ho ceiling to floor. Or, they can easily be hemmedbto the length you like. This also works in the bathroom as an putter shower curtain. You can use a springy type expanding curtain rod up near the ceiling and they look lovely. (credit for this hack belongs to my late mother, Barbara.) Love your videos. Subscribed
I miss a good old days when you could buy flat sheets. I had a condo that had a wall basically of windows. I was so fortunate Mervyn's at the time was going out of business. Found a bunch of queen and king size flat sheets. Just ran those through the rod and they made the best curtains ever. Easy to wash.
Buy a paint pen and paint the working parts of your outlets and switches. I’ve done that, to nearly all of mine - to save the time, expense and hassle of having all the hardware changed out/re-wired. The paint has not peeled, at all, and they look fantastic!
Phew! My girl! 👏🏼 I have never left a 16 min video on youtube feeling like I learned SO many useful, new things I didn’t know! Bravo, seriously! I agree! You are fantastic! I’m not a renter but I also don’t want holes all over my house so it’s always nice to hear opinions! You really do have great ideas that are fresh. Some aren’t quite my style but still, never tacky 😂❤
Reduce the adhesion of tape, peel n stick, etc by pressing it on fabric first. For walls, using blue tape, sticking it on your clothes is good. For tiles, try using fuzzy blanket or sweaters. Easy
You can also use those window lines to discourage bird strikes. You can remove and spray paint the fan blades and then return them to whatever the landlord needs. If you need strips of leather go to thrifts and find belts.
I love magic bulbs ! 10/10 recommend. Thanks for the tip about polyurethane over contact paper, I will definitely try that. I’ve done the contact paper hack over (hear me out, it came out great) you know those Sterilite plasticky 3 drawer things on wheels? I have tried to find cuter storage for my sewing fabrics but they are just the most functional. I built a bureau top out of wood to go over them and covered the drawers in contact paper. It sort makes them disappear into the room instead of being a huge eyesore. Loved this video ❤
Can also put fire proof candle holders in the oven on LOW heat and melt the was off. Use a cookie sheet underneath to catch dripping wax. Wipe off with paper towel.
I have three Lamps I love and all need new cords. The battery bulb is awesome idea so I can use my cute lamps until I can find someone to redo the wiring on my lamps properly.

All amazing ideas. I am a renter. On my end balcony walls, I placed two (Per Wall) solar 'Fence' lights with Double Sided Mounting Tape. They add a nice ambience and are Dusk To Dawn, so no On & Off to worry about. I also removed a Flush Mount light in my dining/living area (With the Landlords permission) and installed an 'Enclosed' ceiling fan with an LED light. LOVE IT !!! I have used Repositionable Peel & Stick wallpaper several times on my walls and hallway sliding cupboard doors and love it as well.
I like the battery light bulbs. Would work great in cabin or camper. Your video was great because it wasn't all recycled, which can be a problem without skills. Thank you
Hello, I just stumbled upon your video somehow but I definitely have to say this is one of the best videos that I’ve come across that are really practical for a real person. Instead of going through Pinterest and just doing these unrealistic makeovers in your home. I really appreciate you putting this video together for, all common issues and in every day home. All of your ideas I thought we’re fantastic!😊
I have a condo and am waiting to afford the upgrades I want . These are some of the best ideas ever!! I’m so excited to make changes that I can afford now!!
I had to add a window sticker over my upper story kitchen window so I wouldn't see my neighbors skinny dipping in their backyard pool while I was washing dishes😂
Wow! This is my first time seeing any of your videos. Amazing tips and super useful for renters. 😍 Also, can I just say how refreshing it is that you speak like yourself and not with the overused influencer inflection?! 🤐Thank you for being real and I can't wait to watch more!
I totally relate to your story about trying to remove peel and stick tiles-I've been there, and it was a nightmare dealing with that glue! It’s funny how DIY influencers rarely mention how much work goes into undoing these so-called 'renter-friendly' hacks. Some of them are easy, but those tiles? Definitely not one of them! Also, if you ever want to do an entire episode on window treatments, I'd be so interested! It's one of the hardest things for me and I never quite seem to get it right. Thank you for what you do. I love your channel!
Thank you!! Yes I realized later that you can get peel and stick vinyl stickers instead of tiles.. the tiles are meant to be more permanent. But the stickers look exactly like that, stickers.. haha it’s so hard!
To get wax off your table cloth, take a brown paper bag and cut it open. ( a grocery bag not a lunch bag) and use your clothes iron to iron the paper over the wax . It melts it into the paper bag. Works great!
Love this video! For our rental we have these horrible blinds that stick out of the wall and there’s clips you can put on that allow you to hang a curtain rod over it without needing to screw in anything, we love it!
Genius ideas. I ordered the socket splitters, the rechargeable light bulbs and the socket thing for the outside light to hang string lights on the porch. Thank you so much for all your advice! I needed the help and you took the guess work out of it for me. Love that I found your channel!❤
omg thank you! and that’s awesome! I really hope they help you out! Seriously finding these products for my balcony lighting at my apartment was life changing😍😊
So many great ideas! The idea of the shower curtain liner for peel & stick tile?? 🤯 I will definitely be checking that out! I own my condo, and the bathroom floor was done in this white marble tile that is impossible to keep clean. I think it was supposed to look "high-end," but it's not my vibe at all. I'm not interested in hiring someone to demo it or in doing that myself, so this might be the hack that saves me!! Thank you!!
YOU are just wonderful. Unlike so many others YOU get to the point ..and share Great intelligent idea. and you are so kind SO humble. There is nothing phony about you. YOU do this because you care and want to share your gifts and ideas... Thankyou so very much.
If you have even minor sewing skills, you can use tension rods to hang homemade curtains. You can also use glue tape to iron on hems, making it a sew - free option. I've even used tension shower curtain rods. You can find rings in fabric stores, and they have directions on putting them into the fabric. They're basically just cut and press together to seal the fabric edges into the rings. Putting toilet paper rolls in between the rings will support the fabric, making a nice, evenly waved curtain.
1st time watching your channel. Something about you voice & the way you say things inspires me. It's calming...reassuring. Thanks for that. Plus you are stunningly beautiful young lady. Smart, good looking & motivated. You're a triple threat, kiddo! Going to look for fake candles at thrift stores. I'm uber-leary of real candles.
I'm a lifelong diy'er & I've never known about the socket splitter. That would have come in handy with the dim, one bulb only, ceiling lights. I've also avoided putting peel and stick down on my rental floor because I've tested them out along with countertop vinyls and they do ruin whatever you put them on when trying to remove them and that adhesive is next to impossible to remove. So taping down a liner first, like the thin shower curtain, or a thin tarp, down first is an excellent hack! Thank you.
Thanks for sharing these really practical hacks. I have 2 kids just out of college in rented apartments, and they each found a hack or two they want to try.
Damn Girl!! I’m highly impressed with your design choices and ideas.. I would never consider them to be “hacks” as they are too beautiful.. Thank you so much for the insight and the ideas.. Your awesome!
I am so glad that I happened to find your video! I love that you have tried your crafts, show photos as examples, and yet that you quickly go through your ideas. I hate watching people take the video time with the actual painting, measuring, cutting...ugh! Then, to top off your great program is the listing where we can find the materials you use. Kudos for creating great content without the boring details that we can usually figure out on our own. Plus, your projects are genius! Thank you. ❤
I'm so glad I ran across your channel tonight. I loved every morsel of your suggestions! I look forward to going and having a look at all your collection of videos. 😊
I’ve found your channel recently and subscribed. I can see that I’ll be one of those earlier subscribers that will joyfully watch your channel really grow. You have great, lovely and practical suggestions, and your personality and calm, helpful tone is a pleasure to watch!
I do recommend using a hair dryer to remove and actually ask the landlord if he would like for you to leave and still give your deposit back. It does upgrade the space
You are very clever and have a charming delivery (I find so many irritating voices on YT). You had me hanging onto every word! LOVE your application of the stained glass and lead line decals. ❤ Really great tips. That shower curtain under the peel & stick floor tile is genius (and you politely gave credit). YES on the “boob lights” being replaced. I’m a big fan of the battery candles. All mine have a wax coating to mimic real cables (as if…🤣) and I favor the ones with the flickering/moving flames and timers. 👍🏻 I set mine up in Oct as the nights get longer. Adds coziness! Wishing you continued success on YT. Thanks for your video. Well done!
For candle wax removal from linen, just put a thick paper bag, not waxed, of course and iron it. You will be amazed how much it will take it out your friend Gerri.
Yes! I learned this years ago and have used it several times on carpeting as well as furniture. I suggest being careful to not leave the iron in place long with furniture. I use a low iron so as not to damage carpet fibers and as the wax soaks into the brown paper bag I simply shift the bag around until it stops absorbing any wax.
Love your video. Love how you aren’t pretending to be anything but yourself, so silly things like making your coffee on video. Fantastic ideas. I hope your channel continues to grow.
these are all really great tips. I especially like the first one. I own my own home and there’s plugs all over the place outside, but there’s never plugs in certain places I want that lightbulb plug genius. I can’t wait to use those at Christmas time. I also love the one where you can put two lightbulbs in one lamp. Thank you for your research and the suggestions.
Yes! I put this one first as it was the most game changing for me haha I really love putting up christmas lights but always find myself in homes with plug issues! Glad I could show you how to make your lighting better outside : )
This is such a great video! I've never seen her before. 1. She has a great eye. 2. She's a good researcher. 3. Such good ideas!!! Thank you for sharing this video ❤
Every single one of your 11 hacks were BRILLIANT! I think I know ALL the hacks, but you REALLY had some excellent, useful ideas! (I know I'm late to this party by 9 months - but I'm subbing and catching up!) Thank you! 🥰🥰
Oh…I LOVE the idea for the outdoor lighting! I didn’t know such a thing existed! These tips are just as helpful to homeowners as to renters (eyes my worn out bar cart🤔) Thanks!
Interesting! I thought I tried that but now that I think of it, I am not sure.. I'll definitely try as I still have a green linen table cloth that has 2 year old wax on it lol
Love the idea of putting assorted candles in the fireplace grate!!💗I have been completely overhauling my old home using Temu products: kitchen gadgets, kitchen storage and accessories, peel n' stick wallpaper throughout, peel n' stick tile on my kitchen wall, storage bins, window film in my bathrooms, etc. and saved a lot of $$$.
Please stop using temu, they're horrific human rights violators. Also they're charging taxes and not paying them. They've become a serious problem and they're soon to be charged with a lot of violations. Please don't be their enabler!
Thanks for the bonus hack! I need a bulb spliter. I have a older home and there are only 3 outlets so I have one floor lamp on one side of the room and the a large lamp on the other side and my TV in the 3rd outlet. This will make the room brighter ❤
LOVE the window films - started it in our condo (bedroom faced another condo building 😅) and bought more for our current place for both bedrooms to allow me to change or move around the room without anyone actually seeing anything they shouldn’t. The radiator covers - I’ve been noodling in my mind how to “cover” our baseboard heaters without actually covering them … ONE PICTURE and all of a sudden “I can do that!” I love the ideas for ceiling fans - I REFUSE to get rid of ours (or pay for new ones 😂) but you have SO MANY ideas!!! Love them! Those BULBS!!! Wow! Our crawlspace (it’s a decent one and is excellent storage) has very poor lighting. My Gpa originally had a system set up with extension cords and old lamps and a pull cord that worked very well until things started to break down… now we can’t use at least two of the lights because they flicker wildly… those battery bulbs are AWESOME as a stop gap until we can afford to wire in some lighting. Woohoo 🎉

Girl, you and your ideas are awesome! Thank you for sharing, please keep them coming!
I have a condo and am waiting to afford the upgrades I want . These are some of the best ideas ever!! I’m so excited to make changes that I can afford now!!
You can do it! good luck :)
I had to add a window sticker over my upper story kitchen window so I wouldn't see my neighbors skinny dipping in their backyard pool while I was washing dishes😂
Yuck! Glad you found a solution to that!
😂
Some people have an inexplicable window in their shower, but others...🫣🤣😳
😂😂😂
That's funny! 😂
You remind me of Drew Barrymore ❤ thank you for the tips🙏🏼
I was thinking the same thing, but couldn’t remember Drews’ name. Thank you! She totally does put one in mind of Drew Barrymore!
To get wax off your table cloth, take a brown paper bag and cut it open. ( a grocery bag not a lunch bag) and use your clothes iron to iron the paper over the wax . It melts it into the paper bag. Works great!
:( I have tried this! Mine is ruined haha
Would it work on the huge stain of melted dark chocolate on my mother’s hand stitched bed quilt?
@@LindaKanagawa I'm thinking no. It would probably set the chocolate even more.
Gurl!!!! I own my home and these tips are game changers!!!! Thank you!!!
The curtain rod holder made of leather and a dowel. That's something I never thought of. Perfect for my boho room!!! Thanks for the ideas!!!
I like the way you combine practicality and style. I would enjoy seeing more like this. Thanks.
I love the adaptor ❤ I'm a home owner and will still use these ❤ I love high end looking hacks!! You nail it every time 🎉
Love this video!
I have the rechargeable lights all over my apartment. Saves money on electricity.
Loved these hacks
Damn Girl!! I’m highly impressed with your design choices and ideas..
I would never consider them to be “hacks” as they are too beautiful..
Thank you so much for the insight and the ideas..
Your awesome!
As a design pro….i was sssooo impressed with your ideas and appreciate your straightforward speaking style. I subscribed today !
Well thanks design pro! : )
Great video with great ideas. Your no nonsense approach is refreshing and informative ... it's a gift, young lady.
Thank you. ❤
Aw thank you!
First time viewer and I thought it was great!
Yay welcome!
ME 2!!!😄
How am I just seeing this in my feed and it's 10 months old? That bonus hack was an eye opener. New subscriber!
I'm so glad I ran across your channel tonight. I loved every morsel of your suggestions! I look forward to going and having a look at all your collection of videos. 😊
Your ideas are so original and truly frugal. I am starting in a few minutes with the relining with wallpaper and shower curtains. Thanks so much.
Love it!!
I’ve found your channel recently and subscribed. I can see that I’ll be one of those earlier subscribers that will joyfully watch your channel really grow. You have great, lovely and practical suggestions, and your personality and calm, helpful tone is a pleasure to watch!
Great ideas. I changed my yellow bulbs to white and WOW it made a big difference!
Right?!
I do recommend using a hair dryer to remove and actually ask the landlord if he would like for you to leave and still give your deposit back. It does upgrade the space
My thoughts exactly! 😊
Our landlord from years ago let us exchange one months rent for repainting it
You are very clever and have a charming delivery (I find so many irritating voices on YT). Well done!
A socket splitter!? 🤯 All fantastic 💯
These tips are brilliant, common sense, and TOTALLY USEFUL! Bravo!
Like the window film idea! And your "terra cotta" light plates.
Really fantastic tips. Loved them all!
Aw thank you!
Love your video. Love how you aren’t pretending to be anything but yourself, so silly things like making your coffee on video. Fantastic ideas. I hope your channel continues to grow.
Oh thank you!
these are all really great tips.
An iron on the dry setting with craft paper with get wax put.
Interesting! I thought I tried that but now that I think of it, I am not sure.. I'll definitely try as I still have a green linen table cloth that has 2 year old wax on it lol
Love the socket splitting idea I am now subscribed 😊😊 you’re very personable and explained everything very well.
New to your channel. I absolutely love your tips. Want to make over my house. Thx 😊
Hi and welcome! That's great I hope they work for you!
Just found your channel. I really enjoyed your content. Thanks for sharing.
Love 💕 and Hugs. 💙💙💙
I love the fireplace with candles in it!
Great tips on so many things. Subscribed😊❤
Yay! So glad you enjoyed! 🥰
Thank you so much for sharing your expertise 🎉
I would love to see diy options with frames
What do you mean?
LOVE the window films - started it in our condo (bedroom faced another condo building 😅) and bought more for our current place for both bedrooms to allow me to change or move around the room without anyone actually seeing anything they shouldn’t.
The radiator covers - I’ve been noodling in my mind how to “cover” our baseboard heaters without actually covering them … ONE PICTURE and all of a sudden “I can do that!”
I love the ideas for ceiling fans - I REFUSE to get rid of ours (or pay for new ones 😂) but you have SO MANY ideas!!!
Woohoo 🎉
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼
😊😊😊
