Been waiting for this video! (And then that was the first thing you said!) Okay! Let's go. Hey, suggestion, can you consider going back to your 2023 Top 10 Board Game Campaigns of 2023 and doing a follow up video, chatting about what came in and what didn't, and your follow up thoughts after the campaigns. For instance, if I recall correctly, and don't quote me on this, Sankushin and Dante were on that list, but both got pushed to next year or possibly beyond with Sankoshan.
Was hyped for Sankkushin but here's the thing. Designing, launching and fulfilling a project is pretty much guaranteed to be a stressful process, especially for a new company. These last few years with rising prices it has gotten even worse. If the people behind this project can't handle the pressure already then.. I don't know it just raises a huge red flag for me. But if it does actually happen and they actually pull it off sucessfully I am happy for backers and the creator.
I am actually looking forward to them, they have been pretty prompt and punctual in shipping their Miniatures, whenever they announce. So they seem to do their due diligence before announcing things, and thats a + for me
I don't know if they'll ever launch the campaign and I wish them the best if they do. But despite being one of my highly anticipated for a long time, now I kinda don't trust they'll be able to deliver the game, and if they manage to do so it won't be without several years delay. It's just my guts, but I'll disuade myself from jumping in despite me being so attracted to the game.
I played Degenesis at Lucca Comics in Italy in October and also snapped some pics of the game. The game looks and feels great, we really enjoyed it. They mentioned that the game is basically ready, however since SMV struck a deal with CMon to publish the game, they had to postpone the Kickstarter to fit it into CMon's calendar.
#10 - The problem with this game is yes, it has so much promise, but we are waiting for JUST THE CAMPAIGN, And then there is probably, they way they are proceeding, another 3 years till delivery. So I just wipe this game from my mind. It doesn't exist. But yes, you are right! It looks so gorgeous. I hope they find the health and abundance to finish this work of art and deliver it. I want that for them!
Conan is one of my favorites for years but what shenanigan Monolith does around the Artbook is just ridiculous. The last campaign in general was not organised too professional even considering Covid and issues with shipping at the time, but the amount and quality of information sharing regarding to this issue mentioned makes me wonder if I should have the confidence in a new Conan campaign.
Will you make another video on nemesis retaliation? Idk if you usually make that type of content but I need help breaking down what’s worth and what isn’t 😩
Agreed! It might shoot up to my #1 if I see an ounce of game content :D But so far just the announcement make it difficult to bring it all the way up, especially because I'm unsure it can really fit the role of what an ARPG is in my mind. But if it's remotely good you bet it'll be there :D
I'm not that excited for already announced campaigns for 2024 as I was entering 2023. My top most expected are Dante and Vrahode. After playing Oathsworn I'm REALLY missing more Boss Battlers
I didn't know about the GoW board game and I was also surprised listening about the new Go On Board game since the Path of Destiny got funded like just a month ago. The most anticipated for me is Daimyo Battle for Japan
I've been a fan of Degenisis since I discovered the RPG. The art is just phenomenal, I bought all of the books just for that. Super dark and gritty setting. I saw this at Gen Con and l'm also looking forward to checking this out
Sankokushin: Five Sacrifices got my attention 3 years ago from this channel got me into liking to assemble miniatures which I first ordered (Amba, Summer version of Umeka and Nene combined order) followed by ATO (Tailspinner which I received last month). To be fair, Into The Unknown did miniatures in their KS campaigns in the past, and now ran successful campaigns for ATO (Aeon Trespass Odyssey), SOH (Sins of Herakles), and KF (Kingdoms Folron). Kingdom Death did their first KS campaign, to create player character miniature sculpted, and then on their third KS campaign, they successfully created their first board game. Then, people became aware of the KDM. Finally, on their fourth KS campaign, KDM 1.5 successfully pledged over $12 million and over 9k backers. Sankokushin might seem to be overhyped and it is a good idea to spread awareness of their miniatures and their development and ideas to create a board game. I am still hopeful they launch their KS campaign next year and I have almost all the money I have been saving for this one will be my day one to pledge their campaign.
I’m actually excited for two reprints next year. Expedition: Northwest Passage which is a lighter game but they look to be adding a lot for the reprint I’m excited about. And Earthborne Rangers reprint. I’m getting more into LCGs and what I’m hearing about it all sounds good so far.
The team behind Degenesis (sixmorevodka) has insane graphic design skills. Really want clan wars for that alone. Cmon was also making a Dust board game as well. I hope its a coop 😄
Sanko overhyped themselves and when it came to the point of delivering a crowdfunding campaign, they realised that they would not meet the expectations they had set for themselves and the backers themselves. I don’t see it ever coming tbh. Sadly, they seem to be pursuing some level of perceived perfection and that’s going to be hard. The boss battling landscape has changed a lot too since their reveals. KDM is getting its releases back on track (and is arguably being worth its price even more) and many of the other big ones will be done next year (ATO, Middara). We are already way more saturated with boss battlers compared to when Sanko was revealed.
I feel like I am in the same boat. Since they canceled I went in on Kingdoms Forlorn, ATO sins of Herc, picked up all the released black box content for KDM and still waiting for two more cycles of ATO.
2024 definitely has a handful im excited for. In mor particular order... - Mythic Battles Egypt - Dante: the Inferno - God of War - A Song if Ice and Fire Skirmish - DeGenesis Clan Wars - Shadownborne Games Arthurian Legend Game - Dead Keep (unsure if this is actually going to crowdfunding) I've been anticipating Celestial for years because of the theme but now, from what I've seen of the actual game...I'm a lot less interested.
Same here, but I am hopeful that when Celestials returns to crowdfunding that Dawn of Madness will be in hand and that they will do a better job of selling us on the game and what it is.
Bit surprised not to see Avalon on here, signed up for Solace - the sci-fi art and small box card game hooked me. Now to see if they can reel me in next year. :D Happy Holidays to you and yours. 🎉
Interested in any campaign that is run by IV Studios. I love their games. They also generally deliver within 8 months and subsidise the shipping. They've announced at least three campaigns will be coming next year.
Degenisis looks great. Another one from CMON i'm really excited about is The Dead Keep. A shame it wont be a KS with bazillion miniatures, but i'll be there for the pre-order.
Degenesis looks awesome. Hoping for mythic battles Egypt and DC United in the future but idk if either is coming in 2024. Otherwise not aware of anything else I am waiting on to back I have accumulated a bit of a backlog this year with a lot of my big backs arriving or about to arrive all near the same time
If mythic battles Egypt is also 2024 then it'll certainly be up there. Making top 10's are hard, especially with time limits like that so I try to pick ones I'm either really sure are 2024, or ones that are so high on my list that even the hope is enough :D
@@TheKingofAverage this especially is so hard as many companies don’t release what is coming out. Awaken Realms or someone else could have a huge new IP coming and there is no way of knowing. About half of what I backed this year I had no idea was coming the year before
So where is the next three Zombicides for next year from CMON? Right? Come CMON! We need more zombies! Right? (Deep Sarcasm). Looks like next years CMON games might be really good. Looking forward to those campaigns.
Give em time. They’ll dig up something for Zombicide. I threw Barbie out there as a joke few months ago. Star Wars Zombicide? Wouldn’t surprise me if they did.
Answered your question about what is wrong with the Orcquest Warpath rulebook under the "end of 2023" video btw! Just in case my reply to your comment got buried between all your other communication. Still hope you cover the issues in some way! :) Thanks for this video, really enjoyed it! I'm also quite curious about Clan Wars especially because I liked the Degenesis RPG lore-wise for quite some time, despite it being too rules-heavy for my tastes to actually play as an RPG. That SixMoreVodka is giving everything away for free at the quality and quantity of the content is just nuts. Still, if anything, I'll get it in retail, CMON is not worth backing on crowdfunding imo at their current price point with shipping and VAT.
If you like Degenisis - it is based on the ttrpg by the same name (originally german, but also in english). the ttrpg isnt published anymore sadly as they couldnt finance it anymore. there schtick was an art angle as well, i got the deluxe core set, huge thing with dice, art, fancy things. i imported from sweden over germany when i found it. But if you wanna already see what the world is about - you can actually get all the pdfs of the ttrpg for FREE on their page. also havent gotten around to it, but its an interesting take on the genre. its more mid-apocalypse than aftermath - some meteroids blasted in and brought some not so nice stuff with it. a bit like mad max meets cyberpunk aftermath meets biogenetic evolution a la Resident Evil.
@@TheKingofAverage difficult as all is available for free now, but yeah I hope so. even wroten to them, that if enough people care, they could do a reprint crowdfunding at least. (plus some things they never could do). extremely tough to get physical stuff online. so here is me hoping. still interested to see how the board game will be. design is always topnotch by them
What a great lists, lots of great games and a few new to me. I am interested in a mixture of reprints (El Grande, Container, Fortune and glory, Bus), new games (Tales of Arthurian Knights, Dead Keep), and crowdfunders (most of this list! Plus Tales of Myth and Legends and Spire's End: Rangitaki). Hopefully the SMV and CMON collab goes well, as it would be great to see some of there other concepts be utilised, my favourite being WW0 (all of the concepts are very cool).
I will certainly give Celestial a chance as they actually handled themselves well when they pulled their Kickstarter. That showed character and deserve a 2nd chance.
It improves them in my eyes. They did the right thing for financial reasons and delivering their games to previous backers and not taking on more debt. That raises them in my book. Sure they could’ve marketed it better, but who cares?
Celestial looks like a set of cool minis in search of a game rather than a cohesive and meaningful world/narrative. Just the opposite of everything I would want in a board game
If they can get Dawn of Madness to backers and stick the landing, I think a lot will be forgiven. I care less about how you manage your campaign time-wise and more about what is the end product like and was the wait worth it.
My list is totally different then yours with some crossover 1. Armello the Board Game 2. Limbo Eteral War 3. Sheol 2 content 4. Derailed 5. Arthorian Area Control game from Oathsworn creators 6. Dante's The Invation of Hell 7. Wroth 8. Clans of Caladonia 9. Welded Iron 10. Captains Log New Horizons
I've been stoked for Sanko for a long time now, and have bought all the resins they've made, but i do feel like they've shot themselves in the foot just a tad by delaying the campaign so long after so much teasing. Degenesis is looking pretty rad tho
I think limbo will have a hard time funding their next campaign...I was very excited for 1.5 but delivery delays have killed that. Sankokushin would be great but no faith it's close. Think they will focus on more miniatures for awhile.
Thinking about even considering campaigns MAYBE coming in 2024 is exhaustive to me. Most of them probably wont even arrive until sometime in 2026. We should have flying cars by then.
King!!!! Where's the new project from shadowborne-games????? It's my top 1!!! My top 5 would be like : 1- shadowborne-games 2 - "DC UNITED" (I'm a believer!!!!) 3 - Sankosushin 4 - God of War 5 - Dante
@@TheKingofAverage Definitely a surprise top 2, hadn't seen your No.1 before definitely intrigued. My only planned crowdfunding next year will be Conan & Celestial.
i'm a Simp, i wait for the Awaken realm show of ferbuary to see what they have in store :D! one is promising to be kind of "ground breaking" for the boardgame industry, so they got my attention
I haven't backed a CMON project for about 5 years, I lost a lot of interest in that company. That said I am very interested in clan wars... the aesthetic is perfect
I am most excited for two games from Archon Studios. One is Heroes Might and Magic Wargame, so Warhammer but Might and Magic, and other one is Masters of Orion, basically Twilight Imperium but with ton of minies and 3d terrain (terrain is not confirmed)
Eh, the CMON games are instant passes, so save some money there. Solace, Celestial, Dante, and Sanko (if it ever happens) will more than make up for it though! ...and then there's the mystery game....
Already on to 2024? Another year of never ending games, hype and fomo plus getting super excited lol. This guy will buy everything, you can tell, he’s addicted lol. Time to get that mansion with a game room the size of a Football field. Maybe I’ll find 3 things to back like I did this year. Oh! and maybe I’ll finally get at least one of the games I backed more than 2 years ago.
@@TheKingofAverage actually it was 2 lol. I thought Tiny Epic Crimes was this year but it was December last year. Other two were Scareface 1920 and Through the Doors of Durin for The One Ring RPG. So not much. Pretty much had enough of crowdfunding once I fought off the fomo addiction. Some of the games I backed over the years I’m now selling. Bought them on hype etc. Was going to back Tiny Epic Cthulhu. Might pass on it now.
Oh I sit here remembing 2022 Jules (me) looking forward to Sankokushin in the new year. Man, if I could go back and just tell him the truth of the world. Sigh. Update - I wrote this comment before watching the vid, and paused it as soon as you said it, WOO SANKOKUSHIN #10! just squeeked in there. Maybe I'll see it someday!
Limbo eternal war 1.5 is the first KS project I backed , and probably the last one... Probably 2 years late (if I ever receive it). I didn't expect to have to wait so long at all, so much so that my interest in this game has completely faded. Especially since communication around the project was really problematic, with months without any news which broke trust; I don't know if this game will finally arrive at my door or if it will end like with Mythic Games having to pay and pay again to have the game. If all crowdfunding projects are like that then no thanks never again. So sad because I love board games, I love miniatures, and there are so many great ideas and talent around the globe... Maybe one solution is to make platforms financially responsible so that they exercise more serious control over the viability of projects
I really hop you're right and this is the top 10 of next year, will be a lot less money spent on crowdfunding then, the number one is the only one that looks even remotely interesting...
I have closed my wallet to a lot of games. CMON gets a ton of hate but it's the company I most likely will buy a game from. They offer fun games that aren't too complicated which is great as I just want something quick and fun without too much (time and effort) investment. Awaken Realms have a bit too much going on. While I own Nemesis and love it, a lot of in my group don't like the semi-cooperative part. But the new one I might buy (and keep the OG Nemesis). I like dungeon crawlers. Too bad Mythic Games is in bad position. I haven't played their games yet but I own Darkest Dungeon (I need to get it to the table) and the quality is stellar. I heard a lot of positive things about the game itself and I can't wait to paint those minis!
I've gotta agree with you there. The heavier games are fun, but getting a group to commit to them is very difficult. I've got ATO on my shelf and I don't know when I'm going to get around to playing it. haha CMON games just get te job done. They always have great table presence too, which never hurts.
Sankokushin is not coming out. It's best to let it go and not expect it. I say this not out of cynicism, but just logically and looking at the evidence. They aren't doing it, and there are probably a lot of good reasons, health, money, burn out, etc. But it's not coming. That's my prediction based on logic.
Diemensions needs to deliver their second print of deep madness still too 🫠 Idk what they have going on behind the scenes but it seems like a shit show. Communication with them has been incredibly difficult. Also, God of war was my favorite video game for a long time, but I don’t trust CMON at all with this one. I’m a little sick of their lackluster gameplay hidden behind IPs.

This is great, thanks. I was just last night wondering what great stuff was coming in 2024 so I could pretend to be responsible with my money!
My list is totally different then yours with some crossover
1. Armello the Board Game
2. Limbo Eteral War
3. Sheol 2 content
4. Derailed
5. Arthorian Area Control game from Oathsworn creators
6. Dante's The Invation of Hell
7. Wroth
8. Clans of Caladonia
9. Welded Iron
10. Captains Log New Horizons
I was hoping Celestial would be up there! Heck yeah!!! I’m spending a grand on that game. I see it already
Masters of the Universe by CMON or Conan? That's a debate I'm struggling with as the 2 is basically very similar.
I've been stoked for Sanko for a long time now, and have bought all the resins they've made, but i do feel like they've shot themselves in the foot just a tad by delaying the campaign so long after so much teasing. Degenesis is looking pretty rad tho
Noes... More things to buy xD
Is the art from clan wars by Adrian Smith? Very similar style.
Right?! I feel it's at least partly inspired by his HATE line of work
2:13 your number 1 is gonna be that Jan Conan expansion haha
Wow! I'm shocked haha
hah! :D
Is Mike making "Evergreen" videos? Does not matter! Geeat video! Have a great weekend!
I don’t know if 2024 will be their year, but i’m exited for The Last Mechs and Quantum Shock..
*sigh* Quantum Shock :(
My guess for the sneak peak GoOnBoard game is a Cyberpunk 2077 boardgame
We can hope for Sanko 😊
I think limbo will have a hard time funding their next campaign...I was very excited for 1.5 but delivery delays have killed that. Sankokushin would be great but no faith it's close. Think they will focus on more miniatures for awhile.
I'm looking forward to a smaller game, Dragonbond Quest.
Thinking about even considering campaigns MAYBE coming in 2024 is exhaustive to me. Most of them probably wont even arrive until sometime in 2026. We should have flying cars by then.
King!!!! Where's the new project from shadowborne-games?????
It's my top 1!!!
My top 5 would be like :
1- shadowborne-games
2 - "DC UNITED" (I'm a believer!!!!)
3 - Sankosushin
4 - God of War
5 - Dante
Go on Board. This sounds like the most promising from the ten.
:D
Early guess that your No.1 will be Celestial (probably a guaranteed 2024 campaign as well which helps)!
That's a solid guess for sure :)
@@TheKingofAverage Definitely a surprise top 2, hadn't seen your No.1 before definitely intrigued. My only planned crowdfunding next year will be Conan & Celestial.
Hey, no Mythic Battles Egypt!? 😢
If it's 2024 then heck yes!
i'm a Simp, i wait for the Awaken realm show of ferbuary to see what they have in store :D! one is promising to be kind of "ground breaking" for the boardgame industry, so they got my attention
Game that was 2023 on Kickstart that you introduce me to Eye of Zamrock is 1Q 2024 now on gamefound
Looking forward for Sankokushin (even tho this year was a bit disapointing) and DEGENESIS CLAN WARS (is it a 2024 tho ?
I haven't backed a CMON project for about 5 years, I lost a lot of interest in that company. That said I am very interested in clan wars... the aesthetic is perfect
Yeah it's been a long time I feel since they've done something so...hardcore to not be super mass market. Since HATE really.
No Mythic Battles Egypt. 😅
Will need to see some of it. Everything else on this list I've at least some of it already :)
I am also looking forward for DANTE!
I am most excited for two games from Archon Studios. One is Heroes Might and Magic Wargame, so Warhammer but Might and Magic, and other one is Masters of Orion, basically Twilight Imperium but with ton of minies and 3d terrain (terrain is not confirmed)
Terrain is something that always gets me :D
Is Masters of Orion based on the old PC 4X game?
@@arthurdent9281 yes, they got licence and started developing it like last couple of months, so its really early stages for now
2:06 in - Celestial
NOOOOOOO #3..... hrmph!
:D
Eh, the CMON games are instant passes, so save some money there. Solace, Celestial, Dante, and Sanko (if it ever happens) will more than make up for it though!
...and then there's the mystery game....
I'm waiting for RE:4 from SFG. That should be my last KS hehe (I'm out of space / money / my wife doesn't want me to get any more board games)
Im going to guess that Sankokushin is your most expected game from 2024.
Which 3 did you back?
@@TheKingofAverage actually it was 2 lol.
I thought Tiny Epic Crimes was this year but it was December last year.
Other two were Scareface 1920 and Through the Doors of Durin for The One Ring RPG.
So not much.
Pretty much had enough of crowdfunding once I fought off the fomo addiction. Some of the games I backed over the years I’m now selling. Bought them on hype etc.
Was going to back Tiny Epic Cthulhu. Might pass on it now.
10, 9 and 5
No Rove, that makes me sad because that game is going to be incredible.
I certainly hope so! If I knew for sure I feel it'd jump up higher again for me :D
I wish your #1 was Sankokushin. -Toby
I posted ny comment before I heard you making it your #10.-Toby
:D
Yeah new hotness.
Maybe sakokushin will finally drop.
Hopefully!
I am going to guess the one you couldn't talk about is Diablo the Boardgame?
My guess for your number one is Dante.🤔
For me my number 1 is the other CMON game coming next year
DC UNITED.
Did they confirm that?
Been trying to reach you, dear sir, will continue to try.
Sorry I'm SUPER behind on emails. I'll try and take a look today.
All good, I hope you get caught up. It is about Cormac. @@TheKingofAverage
I really hop you're right and this is the top 10 of next year, will be a lot less money spent on crowdfunding then, the number one is the only one that looks even remotely interesting...
Dante: inferno is my guess
Is Dante your number one?
Nope! :)
No diablo board game?
Release is 2025
Predicted #1 celestial
A good guess considering my past picks :)
A wife who loves Conan is a keeper 😉
God or War by CMON
Close!
@TheKingofAverage actually paused to do it too, I wasn't too far off
Zombicide?
The #1 is also giving me big HATE vibes :D
Right?! Looks awesome!
Diemensions needs to deliver their second print of deep madness still too 🫠
Idk what they have going on behind the scenes but it seems like a shit show.
Communication with them has been incredibly difficult.
Also, God of war was my favorite video game for a long time, but I don’t trust CMON at all with this one. I’m a little sick of their lackluster gameplay hidden behind IPs.
