I would love to see some Thirty Years War content. It is incredibly overlooked in media, wargames and historical relevance, while being a perfect tactical middle ground between ancients and napoleonics and a perfect strategic setting, not to mention its significance and impact on Europe.

It's good to see an occasional historical board game played with the Little Wars crew. As pretty as the miniature games are, it's nice to see some board games....and HISTORICAL themed board games, getting played too.

"Nobunaga piled the rice, Hideyoshi kneaded the dough and Tokugawa ate the cake"
    Be the Tokugawa.
I really like the strategy cards, the randomness of it is just so interesting. This is one of those games that I always wished i got a chance to play. Congrats to Chael, but I don't think it was entirely decisive, but I understand its a long game. Either way, very entertaining.

When I was in high school in the late 80s, I acquired Shogun, Fortress America, and Axis&Allies, my brother and my friends had great times with those games, but Shogun (I had the original) stood out as a true convas for creative, incisive play. The initiative, ninja and allocation mechanics were absolute gold, resulting in a looming sense of dread as everyone essayed to murder each other behind their player screens. Reading the other players' intent was a big part. I haven't played since high school, college and grad school, but I have used the allocation and initiative concepts In a game I have developed and I hope will soon see publishing. Thanks for doing this video. FYI, there is an immaculately rendered copy of Shogun available on Table Top Simulator's workshop.

So I also watch Board Game Nation and saw their A&A championship series, and so I was hyped to see this when it came out.
    Keep on gaming!

One of your best videos as of lately. Maybe we could see an Axis and Allies one like the New North Africa or guadalcanal

One of my favorite games to play with my dad, even to this day, is Avalon Hill's "Samurai" ... a different game, but similar theme. We also play "Kingmaker" every now and again when we can rustle up some players.

Love the Shogun 2 music in the background, brings me back to the good ol' days. Great to see this game on the channel. Campaign for North Africa when?

I REALLY LIKED IT !! The long term strategy really made me wonder what each player will do next :)

Fun video! And from a Shogun Game owner from back in the day, thanks for the Freebies. The problem with games like this, however, is they always evolve into everyone attacking whoever has the lead, and in some cases (especially when playing with younger folks, like back when I was in HS) the alliances are sort of predetermined based on outside the game factors, like who was a good ally vs. who stabbed you in the back that last few times you played Diplomacy 🥸, Nuclear War ☢or Cosmic Encounters 👽 LOL

I know you said you're not good at pronunciation, so I'll just make one tip. Kii is pronounced like "key" rather than "kye", which is the pronunciation of Kai province. Great video, was very enjoyable to watch.

Thank you-I’m certain this is one of many Japanese pronunciation errors!
