    Good video J.
    Most people haven’t caught channels that big so they have know idea. The biggest one I’ve caught is probably like 12 pounds and they fight hard at that weight could imagine 20 +
    Flathead time. 💪🏼

      @@hookedcatfish oh hell yeah. I was only out once for cats this year, about a week ago. Threw a cast net, caught a bluegill, cut him in half, had no action for like an hour than all hell broke loose. Rod bent like I've never seen it before, and the catfish was JUMPING of all things way out in the water, it's super rare to see cats jump. Sadly after about pulling it for maybe 30 seconds he came off. Based on what I saw it was probably a big channel in the ten pound range. I'll get him next time. This was Port Barrington off the bank, hundreds of boats and jetskis all day. Was nice to hook a cat for a minute though.

    Nice channels! Those 5/0 TC double action circles are in my opinion the best hook I ever found so far for the channel cat ,they stick really easy and once they get hooked they stay hooked! I love fishing for big channels,they are such a hard fighting fish

    Man, I really don't get what I'm doing wrong. I can catch 2-5lb channel cats all day, but the big Channels, and especially Blues and Flatheads I can't seem to figure out. Last year my friend caught a 25lb Blue, but between the 2 of us, that's it. I cast net for fresh bait, I use either Carolina or Drop Shot rigs on a few big rods with 6/0 to 9/0 gamekatsu circle hooks. I've fished at night, early morning, shallow, deep, rainy, sunny. Anyways, I watch a lot of your videos and some other youtubers to learn from, and from my POV it seems I'm doing everything right, but obviously not.

    • @hookedcatfish
      @hookedcatfish  Рік тому +2

      It really just depends on where you live as far as the channel cats go. A lot of places don't have big channel cats. Especially places that have blue catfish. But the plus side of that is blue catfish. Get a lot bigger than channel catfish keep putting in time you'll get them

      @@hookedcatfish Appreciate it. I mostly fish Lake Lewisville, but have been to a few other lakes in central Texas. I know we have records at some of these lakes for having 20+lb channel and 100+ lb blues and flatheads.

      @jake9279 Рік тому +1

      @@adamtheangler I feel you really got to get to the deep part of the lakes to get them big cats. Biggest I caught were on jugs in the deep points of Texas lakes. I know a lot of other people have luck in coves.

    Its ok to have a few rods out but from my experience its best to keep rods at least 15 to 20 ft apart minimal. Theres very good chance lines will cross. This has happened to me and ive lost good fish. Another important tip always stay calm and focused when you land a good fish or a big fish. When you get shocked because you dont expect a good fish you freeze up in shock and lose them. Always expect a good fish. This isnt to seem delusional its to keep your mind prepared and focused i too know this from experience as ive lost good fish because ive frozen in shock not expecting a good fish. This is not a good thing.
