One should have a little escape. I’ve got a tiny log cabin in the garden that I call the Bird Box. I love going out there to write and read. No phone, no doorbells, no cats! I suspect our neighbours think we’re bonkers anyway - they’ve caught us dowsing in the garden at midnight, hunting for faeries, and testing Dale’s new umbrella with the hosepipe.

U so right, I finished my outside workshop 6 months ago and it's the best thing for a smoker. And with a little bite of hand work it's is possible to make one with wood with a concrete base, for very cheap.

My wife thinks I have been going through a midlife crisis for many years now but it's fun to have change and do what you want through life, so did you teach yourself how to sail ? As I get older I take the time to mark or leave notes on many things so I will use sticky notes and take wrap plastic and wrap to the items sometimes. Blessings to your family Mike.
I’ve had a dottle jar for a couple of years now. It works great. I must admit I was a bit doubtful, but I saw Cane Rod Piper mention it, and figured why not. I have yet to be disappointed.

I'm lucky to have my office or garage but I'd love to have shed someday. Sounds fun to be able to feel like you're away from home. My wife also doesn't mind if I want to have a pipe in the living room when the kids go the bed. I got very lucky with that one.

On the smoking jacket, yours looks superb. I tend to wear a tweed cap when I smoke my pipe and a leather jacket- air proof to reduce the smoke smell. It just occurred to me would a tweed jacket work as well?

I enjoyed this video my friend. I don't have special clothing when I enjoy my pipe. I don't smoke inside the house. I enjoy my pipe on the patio. But sometimes it's not nice there especially when it's raining or cold. But I think that it's nice to have a place where you can enjoy your pipe and to get lost in your thoughts.

when I'm home every time I smoke my pipe, I do wear my brother's Dallas Cowboys jacket lol I prefer that instead of using my precious clothes lmao. So I do not have remorse since I go with New Orleans Saints. I will take that as a statement "I got lost in my Pipe". I only have 4 pipes. corn, one classic Sherlock Holmes Peterson, One Bing Savinelli, one hand made from great artisan in Mexico a Canadian Billiard and one Atlantic by peterson

As a cigar lover myself, I do love the pipe culture. Might just dabble in it myself one day. That being said, does anyone have a first pipe recommendation along with a blend that is light to mild bodied with less tannic and leather flavors? Commercial blends are fine but customs are also appreciated.
@@oldmanthingspipes actually, I did that some 20 years ago. Got the corn cob pipe and a box of CB in an attempt at quitting cigarettes but still retaining my "smoker" identity. The pipe wasn't my favorite and the CB was a bit offputting. That is why I ultimately went to cigars which is a lovely smoking hobby but can get extremely pricey. I didn't have a decent mentor for pipe smoking at the time which I wish I had. Sadly, my go to cigars are Ghurka which are not priced for the average consumer. I did kick the Marlboro habit though. The thing is, as I get ever older I am looking for a leisure smoking experience with a priceline I can justify. I know that pipes are an investment as are the various accessories needed but I somehow think that it may be less costly in the long-term as opposed to cigars.
It's important to have a a shed of some sort to help assure marital harmony. You need to get away from each other once and a while. I think you may just do these things just to annoy the old trouble and strife. You stop worrying what other people think of you when you realize how seldom they think of you at all.
Haha Haha. I do not care what people think of me that probably why I don't have friends an my wife doesn't love because I don't care what she thinks hahahahahahah

I keep all my tobacco droppings from loading my pipe and put them in a container for later consumption! The burnt stuff I use to keep the cats away!😅

As a cigar lover myself, I do love the pipe culture. Might just dabble in it myself one day. That being said, does anyone have a first pipe recommendation along with a blend that is light to mild bodied with less tannic and leather flavors? Commercial blends are fine but customs are also appreciated.

@@oldmanthingspipes actually, I did that some 20 years ago. Got the corn cob pipe and a box of CB in an attempt at quitting cigarettes but still retaining my "smoker" identity. The pipe wasn't my favorite and the CB was a bit offputting. That is why I ultimately went to cigars which is a lovely smoking hobby but can get extremely pricey. I didn't have a decent mentor for pipe smoking at the time which I wish I had. Sadly, my go to cigars are Ghurka which are not priced for the average consumer. I did kick the Marlboro habit though. The thing is, as I get ever older I am looking for a leisure smoking experience with a priceline I can justify. I know that pipes are an investment as are the various accessories needed but I somehow think that it may be less costly in the long-term as opposed to cigars.
