I'm 22 years old, growing up my Grandfather told me stories on his life and I loved it. I started building a cabin and started smoking a pipe. Thanks for the video cheers.
There's a great line in "Father of the Bride", where Spencer Tracy comments to his future son-in-law how and why he likes smoking a pipe. He says how smoking a pipe at the end of the day seems to slow everything down. Great little scene by a great actor.
80 year old pipe smoking guy here and I agree with everything you said. Maybe there's still hope. I've seen this country just fall apart in the last 20 years. Maybe the next generation can save us because the USA needs a miracle.
Hi there. Can't remember exactly but I was between 16 and 18 years old. I also remember asking my parents permission to smoke a pipe and they said fine. They both smoked cigarettes and were probably happy I didn't ask permission to start cigarettes. My favorite tobacco back then was Briggs which is long since gone. @user-ld6ot3pw1s
Pipe smoking is one of very few traditional pleasures left to modern man. It's not all about being connected to the past, though I admit that is some of the appeal, after all we all here like a good bowl of quality tobacco and wouldn't continue to enjoy our pipes if it tasted bad. At the same time it's a good thing from time to time to look on back and consider heritage and the old ways. If you want to romanticise it you could say that the pipe represents wisdom, enlightenment and free thinking which in this world today is desperately needed.
When you said desperate for a connection to the past, you hit it right on the head. That's pretty much the exact reason I got my pipe and I didn't even know it. The way the world is now makes it easy to want to go back to simpler times. Cheers friend and God bless you✌️
i agree with your opinion , i'm 15 i have a very big collection of old things such as pipes , coins , oil lamps etc and you might say its bad etc but i do smoke cigars and pipes in reason , i enjoy good quality cigars that i often ejoy with my friends sitting down by the lake or a pipe in the forest or whilst camping ,some say that its bad and healthwise i must agree but it is such a nice and relaxing moment so im not inclined to stop anytime soon ,i will only stop if i get addicted as long as im not i will smoke ,never cigarettes tho ,that stuff ruins you.
I'm only 30, started smoking pipes a year ago coming from cigars (which I still smoke occasionally). I started cause I remember my dad smoking it when I was a kid. It smelled great, and he looked so relaxed. I was always curious about it, and so I just jumped in one day. I liked the focus needed to keep up with it and the ability and skill to control your own experience. It then evolved into meditation and opened me up to a community of people who also enjoy the hobby.
I got into a lot of stuff my grandparents did over the years. I’m growing food, conserving it, slowly increasing my knowledge and amount of harvest. I feel like my parents generation lost the appreciation for the things that take time. It is so rewarding to eat your own tomatoes, pick your own herbs for your food or just eat some self made jam. I just got into pipe smoking recently, but it’s similar in a lot of ways to gardening because it forces you to slow down and appreciate the moment. Something that seems lost to my parents entirely.
Im 49 and alot of what i do, along with smoking a pipe, i do to connect to the passed. The 100 years of mid 18s to mid 19s. Although the mid 17s appeal to me aswell. A person individual life was lived deliberately and every tool was precious, every crafted item had soul and was intended to last and materials were a major part in that.
That's a seriously cool pipe. I got into smoking for the flavor experience and for the aesthetic but I stayed for the connection to pipe smokers of the past and the blends of the future.
I picked up pipe smoking last year, I was inspired by George Lincoln Rockwell. I love the scent of aromatics. And I was reminded how much I liked blowing soap bubbles with a pipe when I was a kid lol Back in early 2k, I worked at marina boat rental department, I had free access to motorboats and sailboats. I got into sailing, but never motor-boating. No challenge in motor-boat and too noisy. I think now that I've been an old soul all along.
Good stuff, love to see somebody like you these days! Enjoy the heck out of that pipe! I just finished a bowl of Prince Albert before bed, I like Carter hall too but it’s been a few years- I’m gonna grab a pouch or maybe even a bucket! God bless you
A friend recently made the following observation: “my generation (Boomers) and my dad’s suffered emotional constipation. You had to be tough and not share your feelings. My dad didn’t talk about his experiences in WWII. Today’s generation has emotional diarrhea. It’s all about MY feelings”
Hey brother! Thank you for your addition to this topic - Of course it caught my attention with the title. But yes… a lot of us have been finding the modern age to be counterfeit of what it really should be!
A very interesting video! Yes, a connection to the past...for sure! (I just had to think of a song called "the good old times, when times were bad" 😉 and yes, emotions can be easily manipulated...you see it in politics, talk shows etc etc... and very true words concerning history!
I'm glad to see this trend in the younger generation to lean toward common sense and fact based decision making. We need it to take hold and grow substantially in order to revive this country and stop this slide into a cultural abyss. Moral decay is rampant and America is damn sure worth saving. Hang in there young ones , your more important than you realize.
Kirk, this is my first time to see one of your videos. I am in my sixties and a member of the "baby-boomer" generation. I have to say to hear you say this at your young age, does me a lot of good and makes me think there is hope yet. I've been told that I was born in the wrong century as I embrace the old ways, too. Sure glad to hear someone of your age group realize the value to the "old ways." I'll bet that the "1861" in your moniker has to do with an interest that you have in the Civil War as that is the year it began. Anyway, thank you for this video. It was not depressing, it was needed. If you lose any subscribers for speaking this wisdom, then you haven't lost much. You've gained at least one with me. Take care.
Amen brother!! Everyone needs to stop being so up tight about everything and mind their own trouble's that are right in front of their big noses . Tobacco isn’t the enemy stupid people who are uninformed are. Those who forget and destroy their history are doomed!
Good Morning 😊 Awesome Pipe and Carter Hall , my daughter loves that blend 😉 Beautiful Content👌🏽Thanks for sharing your Two Cents 😂Have a wonderful weekend 🤗 Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦
I think it’s just nice to slow down with a pipe not to mention the little details involved with preparing and smoking the pipe idk why but it’s really enjoyable and hell it tastes great but I also agree that a nostalgia for a time that we weren’t even apart of and a rejection of modernity has some part of it as well
I'm 28 and despite working online as a web developer, I really dislike most of the internet. The validation, attention seeking, the political correctness etc. I live in the UK but I wish I could move to rural America and live an old-style life. Also you're right - facts don't care about your feelings! I sense you're a fellow conservative :)
i agree, i dont pipe smoke, but i do enjoy the occasional cigarette, it reminds me of my grandpa, he would always be working on something with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth.
I have no problem with the idea at all tbh, the legality being the only real problem. I don't believe it's wrong to smoke a pipe at 17, than magically becomes ok at 21.
@@PipeMan1861 Thanks for the response! Here are some other thoughts/concerns I have about pipe smoking. Is there truly any threat to brain development from tobacco/nicotine use under the age of 25 (give or take) when the brain finishes development. Also, how often would smoking a pipe be acceptable at 17? Once a week, or more or less? Thanks again!
I don't think you have much to worry about, caffeine is just as bad for brain development, and it is universal. It all comes down to moderation. I would say to keep it at one pipe a week, maybe two, and slowly go up from there as you get older. Or keep it there, entirely up to you! All the stats on tobacco are all taken from cigarettes, so I wouldn't worry too much.
Yes, I agree with you, the pipe gives us an avenue to escape the absurdities of modern life, it is counter-cultural. In a world that seems to celebrate falsehoods and garbage culture. Also, another reason is it is medicine in a life of perpetual busyness, chaotic driving, sleep deprivation, and diminishing leisure time.
Well the country fell in one generation, we are after the fall, the “fuck you I got mine generation” took this country for everything it had and didn’t save a penny for the future in every way possible. But I agree pipe smoking is a connection to the past even though very little tobacco is now grown here. It may also be that people are seeing that all that talk of millions of deaths due to smoking tobacco was nonsense just like everything else they preach on the idiot tube.
My brother in christ, disenfranchisement from too much "political correctness" is not the reason younger people are coming to pipe smoking. Rejecting modernity? Certainly, but you being mad you cant say the N word or not being able to openly be bigoted to the queer community is not the reason people are taking up the pipe again. Thats your own shit. Its purely nostalgia. Smoking will always be cool and relaxing. Vapes are lame.
I certainly agree vapes are lame😂 But be very careful presuming what I am mad about, and by your comment, I very much doubt you're my brother in Christ, which should always be spelled with a capital C to show Him proper respect. All that said, you're entitled to your opinion, as I am entitled to mine. Just be sure to share it in a civil manner.
I'm 22 years old, growing up my Grandfather told me stories on his life and I loved it.
I started building a cabin and started smoking a pipe. Thanks for the video cheers.
How do you go about building a cabin
@@assass7012 Well maybe not a traditional cabin with wood logs, but I've been converting a shed into a cabin.
There's a great line in "Father of the Bride", where Spencer Tracy comments to his future son-in-law how and why he likes smoking a pipe. He says how smoking a pipe at the end of the day seems to slow everything down. Great little scene by a great actor.
as a 64 yr old and Pipe Smoker, I have to say, you give me a lot of hope son. "May the good Lord take a likin' toward ya"

Agree
I'm not a young man, but I feel you in connecting to the past. That Parker hammer gun on your wall is an excellent way to do that! Well done.

Man that pipe came out nice I’ve never seen one like it. You made that chip disappear.
next video: why old people are vaping
The part about feelings is spot on. Learning to separate oneself from your feelings is a powerful thing!

I didn't know pipe smoking was making a comeback.🤔 I am fairly new to pipe smoking myself.😁👍
I hope you’re right. We could use more young men thinking for themselves and finding a valuable connection with the past.
well said sir!

Preach.

People simply want freedom! 😊😊😊😊
In a feminized society it's all about feelings.
What a great video!
Making foolish people mad is necessary now!😊😊
Where did you get your smoking cap?
My wife had a friend make it for me for Christmas. She's thinking of making some more eventually.
I rly wish the legal age was still 18 I’m feeling frustrated that I’m going to have to wait 3 more years to smoke tobacco
After my grandpa passed, I got his pipes. Maybe I shouldn't have picked up a bad habit, but it sure is nice to sit and puff and think about nothing.
I smoke with a pipe because cigarettes taste like crap, cigars are too expensive, and most importantly, Lee Van Cleef does it
Are there more young people smoking pipes now? ?
Certainly seem to be, yes!
Subscribing👍
I figure I might do a video about cigar smoking being picked up by the younger generation.

i am not opposed to tobacco or cannabis
What kind of pipe is that?
It's a Bakelite pipe with a removable briar bowl, made by the Reiss-Premier company in the 1920s
i agree dude u gained a sub for one u may have lost my opinion it was well lost keep with ur beliefs
