He has two great race horses in his bloodline; Man O War and Secretariat, both the best in their day. Man O War doesn't receive the credit that is due him. Man O War was always loaded with a lot more weight to carry than other horses and still won. The one race he lost was due to the jockey. At any rate his great great great grandson is a beautiful horse.
I have always been struck by how soft this horse's eyes are. So many Thoroughbreds, especially breeding stallions, have chronic "grumpy face," but he looks so relaxed and sweet. A superhorse as well - he's the real deal!
A lot of the thoroughbreds I’ve encountered are very gentle but hot headed. They’re bred to compete and they are very competitive. Stallions are a bit hormonal though
Nijinsky......dudes look forward as I can predict Justify to be another triple crown winner 2018.... trust me on that ....many many great racehorses have graced the tracks all over to really say one from a different era is greater or better will remain fleeting as we would have to race them n see ... impossible.....

She's in Australia and she's not screwing it up, it's just the accent. U.S. accent would make other English speakers piss themselves laughing too so get off your cow
American horses are best in the world. Comparatively speaking, Australian horses are nothing. Secretariat was the best ever. Anyone with any sense knows that.
Secretariat didn't sire anything though. AP cam home in the last quarter of the Belmont 1 second faster than Secretariat did. The horses are not comparable, and when AP goes on sire like he raced...that is when he will claim the throne as the greatest of all time. You'll see :)
Seriously not believing what you are saying. Secretariat was a serious Sire and Grandsire on both sides. Justify even traces back all these years later to him. AP Indy was a small portion of what Secretariat was responsible for .
None. Nijinsky may be in Pharoah's pedigree, but Nijinsky never sired a winner, his sons never sired a winner, and his daughters never produced a winner. The only way you can say a TC winner came from a particular horse is if they are the sire, dam, grandsire, damsire, or second dam. Nijinsky does not figure into Pharoah's pedigree in any of those aspects. It's sucky, I know, but that's how it is.
@Smogger911 For real, fucking tired of hearing about all these race fan wannabes constantly spouting off his name like he's a fucking god. His times have been beaten, he himself has been beaten and by shit horses too, his own jockey claimed the horse was a quitter if he was challenged in the stretch, and as far as I know he never raced in handicap races. Not saying Secretariat is overrated, he was a great horse but I'm just saying there are horses out there who have done very well in their own right who don't deserve to be forgotten. People constantly screaming about Secretariat have probably never even heard of Citation, Dr. Fager, Forego, John Henry, Easy Goer and Sunday Silence, Buckpasser, Damascus, Silver Charm, Holy Bull, Spectacular Bid and many others. My personal favorite is Ghostzapper; beat multiple champions at distances varying from 6 to 10 furlongs on fast to sloppy tracks and he could close from last, stalk and set the pace, didn't matter. He was a hell of a horse, I'm not going to sit here and say he was the best, but he is my favorite and has since become the broodmare sire of Justify. American Pharoah is an amazing horse and doesn't deserve people shitting on him because they think another horse, from a totally different era, was better, it's retarded.
@@nanceydavison4202 All Secretariat really did was set Stakes records, the only speed record he set that still stands is for the mile and a half, which he was supposedly eased for, which I DO find impressive. But that stakes record he set in the Derby for the mile and a quarter has been broken in other races and the speed record (on dirt) is currently held by a fantastic horse, Spectacular Bid who ran the mile and one quarter Strub Stakes in 1980 in 1:57 4/5 compared to Secretariat's 1:59 2/5. His Preakness time has also been beaten in other races by Riva Ridge, also a great horse. Secretariat's Preakness record is questionable as well due to a clock malfunction. He was a great horse, yes, if all you go by are stakes records. There is more than one way to be a champion, in that respect, there are horses that are better in other ways.
yes but they are speaking on Australian TV....most Aussie viewers are not familiar with the term Grade but they know Group....they do the same on NBCs coverage of the Breeders cup when they discuss the European entries who also use the term Group. Say a horse in the Breeders Cup Turf Sprint named Great Spirit wins a Group 3 race in France called the Le Triumphe. NBC's analysts will when going over the entries for the that race will say " well the only one to win a graded stakes race is Great Spirit and that was the Grade 3 Le Triumphe in France on...". Why? Because outside of those who actually study the racing programs, MOST Americans DO NOT know what a group 3 is..they have no clue so it avoids confusion.... think of it as too may tow tah mah tow.... either way same thing!

The Original Grand Slam was the Triple Crown plus the Travers and to this day was only duplicated by one Triple Crown winner, Whirlay in 1941. American Pharoah ,unfortunately lost the Travers to Keen Ice.

Well, there's that little stubborn fact of Secretariat winning on turf, synthetic & dirt. Oh, and those track records that still stand today. Njinksy was a great, great horse (alot better than the inflated Frankel) and i would rate him in the top 5-7 worldwide of all time. But what sets Secretariat apart from the creme de la creme was his versatility, and the fast times he ran.
Secretariat records could be broken in the future but they haven't been yet. Name another horse who ran the Kentucky derby each quarter faster than the previous.
Never knew American Pharoh was a relative to Secretariat. Just wow.
Justify, another triple crown winner was also a great, great, great grandson of Secretariat.

He was also the first horse to win not only the triple crown, but also the breeders cup classic- the grand slam of thoroughbred racing! What a legend
He wasn’t the first to when the triple crown but he did break such a year gap when he won

I'm surprised he does not have bell boots on. He's got quite impressive reach in the rear.
He is a great stud I heard his kids take after his temperament wise. That’s amazing
Witnessing Triple crown at Santa Anita was a dream come true
They make alot money to sent it to abroad what treat 😏
Does anyone know if any of BARBARO's offspring were big winners ?
