My Grand Master passed away with cancer so the upper upper forms you had to figure out each steps. His students must be as great as he is.

I enjoy watching these kata application videos. I get to watch a master perform the kata perfectly, then demonstrate that he has zero understanding of how the move applies to a real fight. This is not an elbow strike. Look at his leg placement, and imagine him grabbing his opponent's extended arm at the wrist, moving his shoulder and elbow to his opponent's chest - body to body and hip to groin. It's a throw. Furthermore, it's spinning because it assumes the opponent is actually trying to move around you, so you spin to match him.
If you watch a muay thai elbow demonstration, this is an actual techique and it does work. of course this can be applied as throw, but this is a useful and effective strike, a spinning elbow to the chest is one of a deadly strike.

That's not the application. The actual application is to grab his opponent's wrist, turn right into the chest (shoulder and elbow against chest, hips against hips, lead leg bracing against opponent's), and throw over the shoulder or straight to the floor, sweeping the leg as you do. The motion is spinning because it assumes your opponent is trying to step to your outside while you execute the move, not stand there with his left hand at his waistline. Lot's of katas have been passed from teacher to new teacher to new teacher to student in which somewhere along the line the application got lost. It is the near death of traditional martial arts.
