Chris you are so smart and intelligent in what you do! Kevin is so fortunate to have you and to challenge you into showing what skills you are capable of doing!! This world needs more mechanics/fabricators like you! Thank you for all that you do and love watching you problem solve and making things come together and work the way intended!
Chris is so talented! I enjoy every minute of watching his fab work! I would love to see you guys someday start your own custom offroad parts company. See you guys in Pigeon Forge!
Great offroad rigs are all about packaging..Chris you nailed that front setup for sure..that full stuff shot was the payoff ! I’ve got a low three link TJ on 43’s and 14” CO’s and bypasses and doesn’t tuck as nice as this rig..from a guy who’s fought this process I give you a big thumbs up! I love how this channel has turned into a place to get top notch fab content.
This is the kind of stuff a lot of folks don't realize about building custom suspensions and why it takes so long sometimes. There is a ton of tacking, testing, cutting, and repeating until you get things like you need it.
So happy that between Brittany, Kevin and you, you are able to show us the kind of work and design you dream up with Kevin to improve what the JL will be able to do. One day I hope to cross paths on the trail with all of you. Thanks for sharing.
This is why I started watching, I love all the work thats been done to the Stepchild. I own a 2018 JLU, Firecracker Red. so I like to pretend this could be what my Jeep looks like in the future.
Britt, Kevin; you are so lucky to have Chris. Chris; you are so lucky to have Britt & Kevin. If y'all always keep that in mind your success should surely continue.
Wow. The engineering, ideas, the out takes - all amazing and fun; just wondering how all this will affect the “on road” feel and handling, road worthiness. When does a Jeep stop being a “Jeep”? Can’t wait to see her (and all of y’all) at Trail Hero! LiteBriteNationCutAndPaste!
Chris, you're a fabricating genius, however Kevin is the real smart guy. He had the foresight to see your talents, and is able to keep you. Kudos to you Kevin! I guess what i am saying is that the three of you are one hell of a team, and create the most absolute BADASS videos on UA-cam. As always, thank you.
I'm glad I was to poor to get my drag link and tie rod before the Rock Krawl kit came out. Now I'm just a little sad that I just spent all my money on 5:13's and my 38's are about bald.Thank you for your time.
“Go big or go home and we’re never home” 😂😂 Stepchild version 3.75 is going to be so kewl!!! I was hoping for 16 inches just because who does that 😮 but 14 inches should make a significant difference.
Did you guys happen to see Scott's JK with the clearanced frame tons, Long arms, 40's and ORI's? He did this same thing a few years ago. Scott is one of the mechanics you guys saw at the Jamboree on the rubicon last month. He's a phenominal fabricator and Hard Core off roader.
Chris, you are awesome...Keep doing what you do brother because you do amazing work. As well you do a great job explaining what you are doing and how you are doing it...Great videos!!
So not a rocker and shocks under the rock sliders then... :) Also, best efficiency for spring and damper happens when you're tangent to the travel path of the axle. The easy way to do that is move the suspension to mid stroke and go 90 degrees to the lower control arms... Works for any trailing/leading link suspension :)
@litebritenation Im going to be in Pigeon Forge TN at Jeep Invasion also with my Red JK and looks like the StepChild :) Hopefully I'll see you guys there!! 😁
L/B. Struth - it's definitely pushing the mechanical limits of tractability dudes ! Loving a geometry setup of 'Stepchild', and would it be better to consider an RRC three link fulcrum bracket mount of triangulated trailing arms bolted to the centre of your front axle chaps ? V.
with the issue fitting the tie rod and draglink, why not run a draglink flip kit? wouldn't this also help with steering geometry as long as you run a track bar relocation bracket?
I love watching your stuff… super interesting and informative. I’m hoping you will do something about this built. Could you give us a ballpark estimate of what this build would cost to have done on a new stock jeep including new tires and wheels. Turn key cost to the customer. Thanks.
For some reason my gut tells me that shock wise/coilover/bypass you're planning on going with are ADS (MBR) shocks. The meaning = multiple bypass Ring internal. Those are sick
Britt , you have a link to the website for the new non sliding knuckle mount ( can’t think of name ) for the PSC steering stabilizer , the boyz are installing ? Would like to upgrade to that one
My Fusion 72" on my JL needed an 8" ram. We started with 6 but the pitman arm would over travel and we were breaking steering box bolts. Took me forever to figure out 😂
@Lite Brite This version will be sick! Curious why you didn't go with the new Genright EXS or even their Elite kit? The Elite kit would be plug and play for Chris, especially the rear portion of it. You already have the required rear mounted fuel tank. I believe you can run a 3" Fox or King with their shock spec.
@jpk0612 It just dawned on me, I wasn't thinking JL... You can buy the complete JKU Elite kit for around $10.6K and install yourself. They don't offer this yet for the JL so you do have to buy the complete frame. Considering the time and $ already invested in the current frame, it wouldn't be worth it.
@justinmoore4088 I seriously considered it for my JL. It would have been like 30k more than the evo high clearance long arm and coilover kit. Sure, the geometry is better, but I'll follow the Genright guys anywhere (and further) at Trail Hero. I'll put that 30k I saved to work on a v8 in the future.
Also according to Genright the JL's frame is too thin to weld to. That's why they are not releasing a weld on kit like the JK elite. I guess they should tell the rest of the aftermarket that's been doing it since day 1 🤣
Yo yesterday in Tennessee I saw you guys parked in that woods place with the abandoned cabins, bears, snakes, bats and the ugly bugs and I think my family had a huge conversation with you
I found out after wheeling my dual triangulated rear that the body roll increases with more flexibility in the rear. This comes into play when flexing with the tub near stuff. I’m sure you are factoring that but just an fyi
wait is this a family friendly show or a X rated one? Sorry I couldn't resist! At this point keeping Chris happy has to be a must! Keeping Kevin from gong off the reservation is also a must. Britney I think your gonna need a lot to tequila by the time Chris and Kevin are done. I still say Step Child 4.0 with a new frame is coming sooner than expected!
Chris Brittany and Kevin why don't you just get a 3 inch body lift for all your jeeps including the one that is dismantled so you don't have t notch out anything plus it'll give you much more tires clearance
This video is a couple weeks old. In a newer video you will see we did do that and extend it but we can’t go to the knuckle but did extend it a few inches. It helped for sure but 14” of travel has a lot of swing still
@@LiteBrite sweet! Thanks for the reply, loving the build. But, I am surprised you didn’t build it around the 42’s. Maybe that’s coming in a future episode too? 😆
Hi Chris hay I'm wondering if you could talk Kevin into buying a Quality metal lathe I've seen on different occasions that you could of used 1 to help you do different jobs also maybe a mill make sure they metal gears ⚙️ in the machines.
move that Garage door opener, they sell shaft drive openers, which go on the side of the door.... the Stepchild is going to be Burly.... might need to rename it to StepZilla or something
Chris is missing out - he could be running a shop killing the game. Denver could use a great fab guy. Run the shop, build and design get some young apprentices to do the dirty work. Could easily be a 7-figure operation
I love Chris doing his work. He has some serious skills !!

After talking with Chris at the Jeepers Jamboree for it bit this is exactly what Chris enjoys, figuring out how to build the better mousetrap.
I'm strictly a track guy, but it's great to see all the ideas that go into off-roading! Good luck with the GREAT work. 👍

Chris needs (and deserves) a raise. Incredible work.
He got one. 😁
I Seriously Hope that Ya'll Pay Chris Very Well,as he does Fantastic Work on your Equipment !
I believe there's about nothing chris can't fabricate ,and make work. Great job .
It’s going to be absolutely badass in the end. I do really appreciate the videos. To see how things are done to make it all work is the best part!

So impressed every episode i watch. Chris, how you know all that? Crazy.

Excellent episode!
Good job Chris
Absolutely 💯 Great Content and Video
Thanx for Sharing your knowledge and experience 👍
Have a Great Day 👍

Yes, rocking my lite bride shirt while watching after driving from florida to Kentucky on the way to Colorado for some cowboying.
Chris , you're great!
Definitely going to be awesome when your done ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
I can't wait to meet y'all this weekend, this will be my first time at the Smokey Mountain Jeep Invasion.
This build should be awsome! Happy Trails to all at LBN!

Brit’s hilarious with her observation of going to “a whole different level of…” at 1:33
That’s what she said jokes never gets old. 😂
Ever!
Never cause that's what she said
My wife just looked at me when he said that and said "I guess we all have the same warped sense of humor" 😂
Great work as always 👍
So you’re building a monster truck. I look forward to seeing you at Monster Truck Jam.

Next level. Step Child deserves this.

For some reason my gut tells me that shock wise/coilover/bypass you're planning on going with are ADS (MBR) shocks. The meaning = multiple bypass Ring internal. Those are sick
Also, Genright makes a rear crossmember coilover setup for jku and likely JL
Britt , you have a link to the website for the new non sliding knuckle mount ( can’t think of name ) for the PSC steering stabilizer , the boyz are installing ? Would like to upgrade to that one
Chris you are a fucking GENIUS brother .
Soooo my pro rock 60 requires an 8” ram🤔🤔🤔. Closer to 7.75” but even my dynatrac build sheet says it requires an 8”…did they change something?
My Fusion 72" on my JL needed an 8" ram. We started with 6 but the pitman arm would over travel and we were breaking steering box bolts. Took me forever to figure out 😂
"Molesting The Jeep". Lmfao 🤣🤣🤣
why you do not go with horizontal coilover and bypass?
If you’re going big or going home, why aren’t you doing Portal axles?
They’ve talked about doing portals for the bronco before I’m pretty sure
Should of done Weld 74 portals.
Great video. I’m going through something similar now. Curious as to why you didn’t flip the DL?
Because it would hit the frame at full compression. We’d also have to lift the track bar which would also hit the frame at full compression
The pointer flat killing me 🤣
Kev has dropped some weight, looking good man💪
@Lite Brite This version will be sick! Curious why you didn't go with the new Genright EXS or even their Elite kit? The Elite kit would be plug and play for Chris, especially the rear portion of it. You already have the required rear mounted fuel tank. I believe you can run a 3" Fox or King with their shock spec.
28k for the frame with no shocks, bumps or links. Yeah, I'm good 😂
@jpk0612 It just dawned on me, I wasn't thinking JL... You can buy the complete JKU Elite kit for around $10.6K and install yourself. Well Chris you did everything you could do to make this work....
(That's what she said!)😂
You should take inspiration from the tj and do a brute modification to allow more storage
You guys should show up one year at Gravelrama in Cleves Ohio near my area of Cincinnati!
Yo yesterday in Tennessee I saw you guys parked in that woods place with the abandoned cabins, bears, snakes, bats and the ugly bugs and I think my family had a huge conversation with you
Yup! We’re at Pigeon Forge for the Jeep Invasion! 😁
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO

Boy, you guys should rename that rig 'Die Frang·ken·schtain'. 😉
Im currently running that 2.5 ton steering that yall dont like and ive been slightly worried since that video came out 😅
You are hell of a team bravo

Lol get a clue
@@jpk0612 you aren't making any sense 🤷
@user-zw5zg7zr2c still don't have a clue aye???
@jpk0612 yeah I figured it out you are weird
@@JamesMcDonald-c8k body lifts are for poors
3.0 internal bypasses??? Only thing is idk if bilstreets has anything that big

OREs like Fabrats used?
Love it. Can’t wait to see you guys at gsmji
Maybe the ppl telling you yo use the longet ram have RCV shafts with knuckles ground?
Have you thought about building a custom cantilever rear suspension like Justin had in his old LS jeep? That way you don't have to cut the floor out.
Hardcore this is the way.
Why not have RK make you a longer front track bar to push the axle end clear over to the knuckle?
This video is a couple weeks old. In a newer video you will see we did do that and extend it but we can’t go to the knuckle but did extend it a few inches. It helped for sure but 14” of travel has a lot of swing still
@@LiteBrite sweet! Thanks for the reply, loving the build. But, I am surprised you didn’t build it around the 42’s. Maybe that’s coming in a future episode too? 😆
42s could definitely work but the amount of extra rotating mass is a huge detractor since we want to go fast and rock crawl
Shoulda just made your own version of a GenRight style rolling chassis in the firs place, Bet Chris could do it easy.
Hi Chris hay I'm wondering if you could talk Kevin into buying a Quality metal lathe I've seen on different occasions that you could of used 1 to help you do different jobs also maybe a mill make sure they metal gears ⚙️ in the machines.

NICE JOB.
I love it 😂 Your not supposed to do anything stupid today 😅 whoops lol priceless look on Kevs face
What happped to the LJ build?
She moved out with her jeep.
Most 72 1/2” axles like my Dstrac ultra 70’s takes the 8” ram like mine did
Ya not sure how that works. The gear box only has so much throw so the gear box limits it
Yeah me either but I do have the PSC big bore gear box too
Great video.
Why not go full hydro on the steering? Wouldn't that eliminate all the problems?
Because we use all the steering controls. Cruise and radio and paddle shifters. Going full hydro would not work with all of that.
should have notched the front frame rail, used the big drag link, and went high steer ...
Tarantula downpouring😂
Great video thank you!
Love your work ethic Chris your a star, your boss is a pain but his wife's mom is cute ! Hi Kriket 😘😋
I can't believe you said that!!! LOL @1:30
