Not ever changing a belt in the middle of the woods sounds good to me.

There's two sides to everything though. Yes these dual clutch units should last a lot longer, but if they break it's immensely more complicated/time consuming than a cvt system to work on.

William Stewart not to mention considerably more expensive to fix. The only dct vehicle I’ve ever driven is a BMW M3 and at least with that particular one, it was not very smooth going slow around town. Kind of jerky when crawling in traffic like someone inexperienced with a manual transmission would be. The low range should help but I’ll be curious how these do crawling through the woods at slower speeds. A cvt is generally very smooth at any speed. Both systems have their strengths and weaknesses

@@jadosa29 they should be smooth, the computer calculates how you are driving and shifts accordingly. It already does this on the atv's and I guess this computer/dct system is supposed to be much better in the Talon. I mean time will tell, but just going off past DCT systems it should be fine.

CVT Transmissions Go Bad In The Automotive World Way Sooner Than Any Other Automatic Transmission Made. CVT Will Eventually Fail As Well, Question Is Which One Will Go Out Sooner. Time Will Tell

@@jadosa29 switch to manual shift mode and you'll have no problem crawling rocks or putting through the toughest of trails. Auto shift is still rather smooth (surprisingly) unless you switch to sport mode where it begins shifting at higher rpms.

All those points he made about the cvt are definitely things I don’t like in my rzr.

I keep mentioning that on UA-cam to sxs buyers and they knock honds but they don't know nothing about sxs
They are either mad because they are stuck with the cvt sxs or don't know the ergonomics of what Honda has been doing and what the future is coming to ATV utv motorcycle etc

Proud talon owner and still questioning this alien technology 👽! Great video guys and thanks for taking time to help explain it in layman's speak. Now I can finally understand the "dual" aspect of the design.

I used to ride a 1987 Honda Rubicon 250. Loved not having to use a clutch to change gears up or down shifting. That thang had so many miles on it or hours whatever you want to say. That thang never broke down. Not once. It was the 2 wheel drive one. 5 spd w/ reverse. So yeah I do believe that Honda has this DCT figured out. If I had only one reason to buy the new Talon it would be because the DCT.

I love the Honda Talón but I heard horrible things about the Airbox filter it gets so much dirt in the the throttle. Into the engine. There is a video of almost brand new Honda talon second ride blowed the motor . Honda warranty took care of the replacement of brand new motor. Many people are complaining about how much dirt sucks into. I’m just worry of paying over $20.000 bucks and get a horrible throttle problem. But I love it and not belt and has real transmission and shaft drive

Well that expands that someone that don't know nothing the DCT is in the motor just like a motorcycle I have a DCT on my Africa twin and the motor takes 5 in a half quarters of oil.a manual clutch will heat up before a DCT will it never slips like a manual

A DCT will heat up just like a CVT does, and that is why HONDA puts a light on the dash to indicate when it is hot so you can stop and let it cool down. Actually the CVT has been pretty reliable in most cases, but it does depend on how you drive the CVT units!

@@briantel9432 First off, I don't smoke! There was a review of the Talon here on "you tube", by a driver who tested the Talon out in Hurricane Utah a few weeks ago, who pointed this out.
