Yeah we got it lowered by cutting and welding one of the engine mounts on the passenger side. The next hurdle will be the exhaust, and getting the down pipe around that drivers side mount. I should have a lot of it wrapped up this week. 🤘😎
Yup, there isn’t a ton of info on these swaps and I’m trying to get as in depth as possible on all the little weird obstacles you gotta over come to swap one. Thanks for watching
Did this swap a few years ago. The PS fitting will turn in the flange. No need to cut and weld. Also for the TB crank case vent, remove it from the TB, cut about 1/2” then press it back in with RTV. Easy peasy.
So the Tracker the 2L comes out of does not run a heater core valve. If you run this setup in a Samurai, leave the heater valve on hot or the mod he does here. The small pipe that comes from the back of the head to the thermostat housing is the thermostat igniter. This is designed so the water pump pulls hot head coolant through the heater core into the thermostat housing to open the thermostat. This is a must since the thermostat is on the cold side of the radiator.
@@Kenneth-ss8ml it’s similar on the 16v, if you turn off the heater it can overheat the head since coolant isn’t able to run when the mixer valve is closed… on our last swap we put a T in the system so even if the mixer valve is closed it still allows the head to get coolant through. We were talking about doing the same thing with this swap.
May depend on the year of 1.6 16v. I did a 96 in my 93 Samurai and everything is the same at the 1.3 so there are no issues leaving the heater valve closed. Thermostat is on the hot side of the engine.
That samurai engine bay is way smaller than my geo tracker. When I did my 2.0 swap it just set right into place. Keep up the good work.

Im so happy you are doing a relatively in depth vid on this becasue im looking at doing this on my samurai and it has helped a ton

Great info thanks

@@Kenneth-ss8ml John Browne said he leaves it with his mod and he can turn the heater off and it still circulates
Fun!
Yeah buddy, it’s coming right along, it’s not as difficult as I thought it would be. I think we are all gonna start looking for a 2.0-2.3 after this 🤣
Awesome Video!! Someday I'll Tow My Tracker Up The There And Pay You To Rebuild or Swap my 1.6 😁
Come on up dude, plenty of places to camp here
Oh cant wait to see this :) !!!
It’s coming together fast
quick question here, because there was noise in the background and couldn't understood, why did you removed the pin from the thermostat?
I allows the air in the system to get out, these engines get air locked in the coolant system, if you clip that little stopper it will let the air out
Hi, with which gearbox will you adapt the J20 2.0L engine?
We are using the stock Suzuki Samurai gearbox. I recently rebuilt it, so it’s fresh 🤘😎
Instead of cutting the motor mounts, you should have just manufactured holes int he hood ha ha ha
It was discussed 🤣🤣🤣🤦🏻♂️
