Thought Elex was a fantastic game, but then I've learned to love the PB jank combat. Yeah, Elex and Greedfall... two of my favorites in recent years.
Same .. I've gotten so use to the Jank ...its second nature to me Gothic 2 is when I really got the hang of it
@@RetrospectiveGaming gothic 2 had a way better combatsystem - you improved your hits by gettin from beginner to master with a weapon. in elex you do the exact same hits over and over and over and over. ofc gothic 2´s combatsystem could have improvement, but elex is a downgrade,
Ah, good to see you back man! I personally invested 180 hours in ELEX. It was not a bad game to me, but it was not good either. PB games have this special charm that they always manage to make me stick playing even tho their later games were not that great. What I really liked about ELEX is it's huge open world, it was a joy to explore to me and I hope with sequel they just advance in every way they can.

Thanks for the review sir! I'm glad to hear an opinion from someone who loves the genre and has an understanding of what Piranha Bytes games are all about. I can overlook some jank if the atmosphere is immersive and the world-building is good. I never played the Gothic games (I have a hard time going back to older games and I'm not big on doing lots of work to get them running). I have played Risen though, and I really enjoyed exploring the world and discovering each of the faction's secrets.
I love Risen also! ..I don't mind the Euro jank at all...when I first played Gothic before I had a UA-cam channel I admit I was like " what the fuck is this "...but ..5 years later gothic 2 is one of my fav games of all time!
Have you played Risen 2 or 3?

Always glad to see Elex getting some love. You definitely touched on what makes Elex so darn special.
Maybe work a little on your script. Some of your words don’t blend very well.
Other than that, great work man. It takes a lot to commit to ANY content creation, as we all have lives and things that get in the way of passion.

i want gothic 1&2 remastered and 3 fixed and remastered... but really improved. and than eventually proper gothic 4... maybe even prequel.
We can dream :( though Gothic 1&2 with graphics mods run really well, Gothic 3 however is properly fucked. Also, as good as questpaket 4.2 is, the English translation is dog shit

@@RetrospectiveGaming I've never played any of the King's Field games. You seem to like old-school RPGs, but I bet you'd like Dark Souls 1&3, and Bloodborne. Maybe even Sekiro, but it's the furthest one from an RPG out of those games
@@RetrospectiveGaming Demons souls is awesome the combat and controls are clunky (I played on a emulator) but it probably has the best atmosphere.

I always try these Pirahna byte games and never really like them too much and I love RPGs that's why I haven't bought this yet. Is it like Risen 3? If it is I'm gonna skip it

I can't wait for ELEX 2. This is the only PB game I've played and I really liked it. I haven't had the time to get to the other games they've made, but I would like to. Whats their next best game besides this one?
a lot of people mention gothic 1 and risen 1 is the best pb game

@@Lowen264 yeah I haven’t tried Risen or Gothic, but I know how paramount they are to PB’s style of how they make their RPG’s.
Most people say gothic 2 is their magnum opus

Elex runs GREAT on PS5 btw. Targets 60 fps and mostly hits it.

Best FPS AI? F.E.A.R. check some vids about the AI in this game, it's awesome
@@davidshtern4432 I've been sleeping on the F.E.A.R. series since forever. To me, it always looked cool, but nothing special. Especially with the slow-mo. Guess that's changing now. You recommend anything else.

It's still in development. I hear it's close to being finished though. They want to release it on the same day the original fallout was released. BTW have you also heard of mutants rising?

even a good AI cant solve the disproportionate power alocation between the player and the enemies.
playing ranged always feels like cheesing bcs of the mechanics (roll and shoot, hover and shoot, fly to an unrechable spot and shoot) so the enemies have to deal gigantic amount of dmg with 1 hit.
its bad design and isnt engaging at all. turning the dificulty all the way up just makes the enemies sponges and the whole process tedious. it is a decent game but they really need to focus on refinement in the concept stage.
Will you review Outward? That would be fcking awesome.

I wasn't a big fan of Risen. That's why I'm hesitant on ELEX. The world looks really interesting though.
