- Spencer Kelly, his team at BBCClick, and Gavin from the Slow Mo Guys got a behind-the-scenes look at our Texas-based rocket test & production site (a.k.a. the Rocket Ranch).

Happy duckner is okay! The light sequence is literally FIRE!
Watched this when it came out originally, super impressive. Though I hope the next time we get slow-mo engine footage, it's FLTA003 rising off the pad!
Oh, and by the way; 7:53 is what you're looking for
Oooh, I wonder how many more views this gets from the Slow Mo Guys channel in the next couple of days? 27 comments and 8,400 views at 21.04 BST on 17/9/23 after 4 months up.
Those shock cones occur because of the lower pressure of the exhaust gasses than atmospheric pressure... and the gas is exiting that nozzle at multiple times the speed of sound!
This is so cool!
Stellar
Let's go!!! 🚀
Having recently gone to an airshow and witnessed the vibrations in the ground made by the engine of a roaring F-16 fighter jet with post combustion on, I can only imagine what a real rocket engine can produce...
GO GO GO....
Yea, space.
5:16 🤣 he's really trying to make it sound like 2,000 frames per second is some kind of amazing feat! ... That ain't nothing for the SloMo guys.
Disposable camera, presumably. The insurance would not cover the good ones.
@@pattheplanter Nope, just very well protected :) (Slo Mo Guys: ua-cam.com/video/0srs5jZ1qdg/v-deo.html)
@@pattheplanter 6 figure phantom vs probably 7 figure rocket engine
where is Tom Markusic?
He was busy after he said 'it's Markusicing time' and marked on everyones usic and so he didnt have time to make a guest appearance here
Unfortunately they ousted him as CEO.
Bill Weber is not my CEO! They did Tom Markusic dirty!
I always thought Tom stepped down as CEO last year because of changes in company ownership or something.
@@starmanxvi he did "step down" but he was forced too.
Ah, yes, the BBC World news... I really wondered what those were at that point in time...
2,000 frames per second is 80 times faster than 25 frames per second, and is real life. It's not, as the narrator said, 80 times slower than real life. 🤷♂
Might have been nice to know what was happening, you know a real time clock showing how long it actually took. But no screw the viewer, we did this to make us feel good? Next time let Gavin make the video, at least he's a Pro.
Stop being rude, it's just a video.
I wish my problems were so small to get annoyed by a video having no counter.
Relax man.
If you really want to know, they said it’s 80x slower than real time so you could calculate it from there. I’m just here for the cool rocket factor though.
Gavin rarely uses on-screen timestamps either (and he didn't in his video about this). I'm not sure why he doesn't. Maybe he doesn't think it's useful enough to be worth the effort (and the fairly mid look of the timestamps the camera software generates).
