  • A new camera requires a new means of transporting it around the layout. a 1975 Airfix low loader has worked out a treat, with a little help from some 2mm plastic sheet. enjoy the video.

Morning Tony, well I must say that opening sequence made us duck going into South Shields, like the way the new wagon went into the North Eastern wagon works and was rebuild, and what a great job they made of it. This now opens up lots of new opportunities for great views of the Railway. I enjoyed the tour particularly going through South Shields and going into and out of Jarrow Road, you see the Railway from a different perspective. The leather cushion works well with no vibration on the camera. Happy belated birthday, and thanks Mrs T for the very generous birthday present, a success all around. A bit quieter for us, everyone now getting back to normal, kids back to school and we're back to normal picking up on a Friday after school. Today we'll be putting the Christmas decorations away, and generally just breathe after a very good but busy Christmas. Take care both, love to Laura, speak again soon Eddy and Anne xxx

Good morning Eddy. I am just glad that you did bang your heads on the foot bridge, it turn out alright in the end. i have changed the couplings on the low loader as they were clashing with the decoupler in Jarrow road station. so hopefully we will get less interruptions with video footage in the future. are decorations came down last weekend on my birthday. and this week its Mrs T birthday. so we are off out for an Italian tonight. busy days ahead. take care. best wishes Tony & Laura

Hi Tony. Sorry to hear you had loading gauge problems with your bolster causing contact with your bridges. I very pleased that you have got a new camera that works very well. Excellent cinematography and a great tour of the layout too.
I watch quite a lot of cab rides on UA-cam, from Europe and the US. I prefer the US ones as their approach to model railway building is different to the British modeller both in layout and operation, theirs are generally more prototypical.
For European Cab Rides, a channel called Pilentum is recommended. I also watch a channel William Swint who does US Cab Rides.
Enjoy creating more Cab Rides for us to watch. Best, Jason.

Dear Tony, very funny how you showed the clearance issue at South Shields. Beautiful tweak to the low loader. Awesome ‘cab view’ footage of the layout, think the four wheel loader does an excellent job carrying the camera equipment. Love how the camera picks up the shades around the different sections of the layout. Definitely an improvement compared to the other camera. Considering what you said about the first one being a night vision model, it maybe fun to compare the two while running ‘dusk’ or night time operations. Cheerio

Good morning Stephen. from a sunny but cold England, still no snow in the south east. I am a lucky lad. Mrs T has come up trumps. as she is watches the videos and picks up on what i had said about the intelligent camera not being up to the standard that we require for this type of footage. So i have spoilt her this weekend as its her birthday. we have to look after our ladies who supports us. thanks again for commenting. stay safe best wishes to to you and Celia. Cheer's for now Tony & Laura.

Yes, yes, I really like this. It's great to be taken to ground level like this and it shows off your work fantastically Tony. My daughter bought a little camera for me but when I used it it turned out it wasn't an MP4 format so thinking I couldn't play the video back the camera got shelved. When my son came to see me last year and I was explaining it to him and why I couldn't use it. My son (who I can only describe as a genius in all things appertaining to PCs - unlike his dad, who is a total 'Wally') said "No problem dad," downloaded a freebie off the internet, put the video on it and clicked 'save as' and clicked MP4 and there it was! Trouble is I've forgotten how he did it. He says he'll show me again next time he's down here. Thanks again for a great video.

Thank you Alfie. That the thing with these camera's you have to have the apps to convert the the playbacks. but most PCs have this pre installed. and the conversion is done for you. sometimes the scan discs have the set up built in. i do hope you can fix the issue. and enjoy your footage. because that what we strive to do with out Model Railways. thanks again for commenting, cheer;s for now Tony

Take care my friend, and give my regards to your good lady. i hope this helps. cheers for now Tony.

I dare say Fred Dibnah, was able to use a flat wagon to transport some second-hand oysters brought on eBay, to give to his friends as Christmas Presents. No doubt Mr Whats is Name spotted him, up near Stevenson's Bank driving a homemade steam engine with the wagon attached. I also expect the school boys out and about on their roller skates, whizzing past Mrs T''s shop, hopefully just avoiding bumping into Mrs Simms after one too many.

Hey there Tony 'Bridge Strike' North Eastern! I am so glad that you've sorted that camera level out. How many times have you done that on your videos alone? I can count at least 4 videos of the South Shield Footbrisge Stike' and I have a VERY bad memory 😆But anyway, that looks from the quality of the film like a very good camera indeed and well worth our wait in you buying it 😉 Plus thank you for being willing to buy it (It's far from cheap!) so that we can enjoy your layout. Thank you also for the footage. I can never tire of being run around your excellent layout! The 9F does look rather smart with the rake of hoppers behind it. Although my personal jealousy must be directed at the GCR Director that is spending a bit of time at South Shields Station. I spent many hours of my young child hood on the footplate of Butler Henderson when she ran on the GCR rails at Loughborough and it always my ambition to own the model of her one day. Thanks again Tony and happy modelling! 😊

Hello Marv. About hitting the bridge at shields. i think its 3 times, the newhassle bridge is at the same height and i have hit that one twice. and the small bridge at Jarrow road i have hit that once, so i am not having much luck with my bridges.
that must have been awesome being on the footplate on the Butler Henderson. lets hope your dream becomes true my friend. all the best Tony. The Bridge thumper...

Brilliant views of the layout, all those projects that you’ve built look fantastic the underside of the station roof absolutely incredible, thanks for the video Tony. I find myself taking screen shots just so I can either look up purchases for my layout or just try and replicate them myself. The laser cut signal box I’m looking into at the moment. Thanks again.

Good morning Sir. thank you for your kind comment. sometimes i do have to pinch myself when i see the playbacks on the big screen. you know when i first decided to build South Shields i never dreamt that the station would turn out the way that it has. but the best bit is, the hidden details inside all of the rooms. that's what many people don't realise.
thanks again for commenting. cheer's for now Tony.

    Hi Tony,
Impressive!!! This is a fantastic improvement on the previous camera. The two things that I found most enjoyable were the shots of passing trains (these really took me back to the fifties and sixties when there were still REAL locos on BR) and the journey into Jarrow Road, plus the station itself. This is the outstanding scene on your layout, Tony, and well worth all of your hard work..
I hope that "cab-rides" are going to be an on-going feature of your videos.
    Thank you for sharing.
    All the best,
    Ken

Hi Ken, i agree. this camera shows off the layout at its best. and it also highlights all the parts of the layout that still needs my attention.
I do like those old black n white cab views of the 1950s and 60s when trains are coming towards you. Pathe news films are the best. thanks again for your thoughts and comments. cheer's for now Tony.

LOL. but yes i can see your point of view about extending the layout underneath the baseboards. If only i had the time to do that. thanks again for commenting. until next time all the best Tony.
