      I know , that's why it's been a few years since I've gone to any of these auto shows , they start getting crowded and people start acting rude , to put it mildly . I can't believe they were giving out free drinks , because people start acting worse when they get a few too many drinks in them .

I had no vehicle half my life despite having 4 kids when I was very very young and I got by, despite me being poor.. Anyway I sold my 2022 rav4 2 weeks ago and pick up my 2024 RAV4 Adventure Hybrid next week. Wish me luck.This is a great channel for the common man.

    Since someone asked about VW maintenance I wanted to share my experience:
    - I lease brand new cars.
    - I always get the services done at the dealer (including tire swaps).
    My wife owned a 2017 Jetta and drove it mostly on the highway but in Toronto traffic - maintenance $3152.44 (almost 7 years) - including tire swaps & storage. Put 112k on it with no issues - the brake pads were still at 4.5mm and 8mm (very surprised)!
    I owned a 2017 Maxima (mixed driving)- $2219.17 over 6 years - including tire swaps & storage.. I paid about $400 for a package that included unlimited oil changes amongst other things (great deal)! Front brakes were replaced at 79k. No other issues.
    I owned a 2014 Rogue and had to replace all brakes at 77k. No other issues.
    Remember that some cars need oil changes at 8k, whereas VWs have a 15k interval. Not saying one option is better than the other but I wanted to share my experience to help your decisions.

    How do you know that someone has a ton of quiet class? Watch Andrea read a screen captured question and she will glide over some horribly spelled word that breaks every rule that the English language inexplicably has, and pronounce it correctly without stumbling, or commenting with a take to the camera.
    I’ve even seen her totally rewrite a question’s sentence structure without missing a beat.
    That’s class, because class isn’t pinky-out tea drinking, it’s simply kindness.

How often have you heard of a Toyota having engine problems related to oil? Practically never! Therefore, their oil change interval must not be too long.

    German brands - softer and such - my wonderful knowledge on the subject (not) - but they were always never made (largely) up to the same specs as Europe - I have a hunch the softer suspensions is likely due to out deepening potholes and worn out (likely more worn out with heavier becoming the norm for vehicles) roads.

    I was in line (about 4th from the front) for an open seating flight in Norway and a guy starts elbowing his way up to the front of the line. I assumed he was associated with the airline, but NO he was just a rude arrogant jerk! That was almost 20 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday, it had such an impact on me. I could not believe a human being could be so rude! So I feel your irritation big time. I bet that didn't happen at the Japan Mobility Show (well, maybe because there were journalists from all over the world there.)

    That’s really interesting about the autoshows. But the other side of the argument is these shows are for the public , so it’s like filming something in a public space, you have to accept people will be talking and in the background?

    I thought it is common sense when you see people talking to a camera is to walk around or come back later. I was at a department store shopping for a water bottle. I noticed a lady was vlogging about water bottles. I didn't interrupt. What was annoying was that she was still there 15 minutes later, after I came back. Still I did not jump in front of her filming.

    BMW has suffered such a tragic fall from grace in regards to their driving engagement with their overly isolated chassis and numb electronic steering. The engaging choice in the segment is now actually Cadillac with their CT4 and CT5 with wonderfully communicative chassis and steering.

    The talk about 0-60 is wasted on the average buyer, I think it’s all about midrange Torque, Zack has said torque is power and getting it at a lower rpm is so important, similar to the 2024 Crosstrek that has brought its max torque figures down from 4400 rpm to 3700 rpm. That alone give the vehicle a boost in power, not hp. I’d even say it could help with fuel economy.

    • @billurban1581
      @billurban1581 2 місяці тому

      Let’s review. 3700 rpm? My 2015 BMW 4 cyl had 260 lbs ft at 1250 rpm, that’s real low rpm torque. That’s BMW driveability.
      If the Crosstrek has the same torque at 3700 as it did at 4400 it has less power at 3700, but “driveability” may be better.
      Horsepower is a measurement of work, torque is a measurement of force. I can exert 200 pounds feet of torque with a “torque” wrench but if it doesn't turn, no work has been done. Slide a 4’ pipe over that torque wrench and exert 1,000 lbs ft, but if nothing moves, no work has been done.

    • @billurban1581
      @billurban1581 2 місяці тому

      I checked, 178 lb ft @ 3700. That’s 125 hp @ 3700. If it had 178 lb ft @ 4400, that would be 149 hp @ 4400. Better torque a lower RPM is pretty much meaningless for performance with a CVT, but if the final drive ratio were taller, the lower engine speed on average would be better for fuel economy.

    I agree about the horsepower and 0 to 60 not being as important as some people bring up when commenting on car vids. IMO once you’re in the mid 200s and above on horsepower and torque and 0 to 60 in the 6sec or less anything more is not needed for most people’s daily commute.

  • @chudo19

    Love your vids! ❤ But I’ll have to disagree about filming at autoshows. As a normal visitor, i can’t care less about all the masses of content creators anymore. If it was one, two or a few crews - no probs, i would make sure to not disturb. But when everywhere are content creators swarms, it’s just as annoying as people passing in front of your shots 😅 Shows should really start doing content creator days and normal visitors days…
