    I’m so glad to see quite a few videos on handbuilding! Ten years ago , when I started, there were very few (that I could find, anyway!)😊

    Looks like the pot was morphing from earth to fire elements.🥰

    Thanks from Saskatchewan, Canada for sharing your knowledge - do you use clay with grog for hand building? Just starting to get interested in pottery as a retirement hobby.

      You're welcome. I use stoneware with a fine grog :)

    Thanks for this helpful video! How long did it take you to build the pot?

    • @ThePotteryWheel
      @ThePotteryWheel  4 роки тому +2

      It took about 6 -7 hours if I remember rightly. I tend to build a few inches and then leave it to firm up, and then go back to it the next day for another couple of hours. If you add too much clay at one time it can get a bit wonky with the weight. Hope that helps. I'm making another video about making smooth coil pots which I will publish in the next day or so. Which you might find helpful too. All the best :)

      @@ThePotteryWheel thanks! That's helpful. Do you think you could do a video on how to glaze the insides of vases to make them watertight especially if you can't reach your hand in?

      @@Annietheapple Hi Angelina, yes, definitely, that's a good idea. I'll do that.

    How much clay (in weight) do you think you used for the pot prior to adding the neck?

    • @ThePotteryWheel
      @ThePotteryWheel  9 місяців тому

      Hi Sarah. I can't remember exactly how much the clay weighed. Maybe 1.5kg, but I can't be sure of that

    Can you use a wheel to trim a hand coiled piece?

    • @ThePotteryWheel
      @ThePotteryWheel  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Faydiva, it's not something I've tried, though I don't see why not. As long as the coils are firmly bonded together it should be fine. Let me know how it goes

    Was it meant to look obscene?

    • @ThePotteryWheel
      @ThePotteryWheel  4 роки тому +5

      Ha, that's funny. Actually, I didn't realize it looked suggestive until I'd glazed it! The unconscious works in mysterious ways... :)

    I thought you were going to show how to smooth it. Instead you just mentioned you were going to scrape it later.
