I'm 14, i have adhd and autism so my intrest could switch quickly. I just need tips. I want to write a fantasy novel. How do i edit? and what should the Page count be?
Good luck on your fantasy novel! Don't worry about page count; the story is all that matters. Here's a link to my top tips: ua-cam.com/video/gcm0YR-piVs/v-deo.html
@@MelTorrefranca hey, can you rate this part of my book? "Hey, let me sleep for just five more minutes." Said the man with jet black hair. "I can't, we need to get out." I whispered, pointing at the door. The man looked suprised when he found out that he wasn't at his home, sleeping inside his snuggly, warm bed, but instead at some psychopath's house that knocked them out and dragged them in. " Where am i?" The man asked. "That's something i'd like to know." I replied. "But first, let's wake that lady and THEN get out of here." I pointed towards the fainted girl on the floor.
Hi! I’m also 14 and have autism too. I’m undiagnosed for adhd, but my Occupational therapist said I had some adhd tendencies. I’ve been writing a novel since November last year, so I feel I can give you some advice. The best way to stick to the book would be to hype yourself up about it. If you see yourself losing interest, try and picture how incredible you’ll feel when it’s done, and published (self or trad). As for page/word count, fantasy books are usually around 90k words for YA, which based on your age I’m assuming you’d write. Editing is based on preference, but the best way I find, is to do large developmental edits first, then do stylistic and grammar things after. I understand that it can be hard to stick with a project, but the more you write it and edit it, and grow close to the characters, naturally you’ll end up feeling more attached. The more attached you feel, the less likely you’ll truly abandon it. I’m sure the book will be great, and keep your head up. Just because we’re young and neuroscience to, doesn’t mean we can put as much love, time and effort into our writing as any neurotypical adult! Good luck writing!
@@bruhinosmomentos4241 I know I’m late but I would suggest having it make a little more sense. It doesn’t give a clear impression at first of what tens it’s in. It appears to be in first person, and if so how do the character refrain the information? Remember, it’s from their perspective, so it needs to only refer to information they know about, unless you say they have yet to know it. I would suggest giving the man with jet black hair a stronger description, and perhaps have the MC come up with a temporary nickname for him. It would sound a little more like this: (“Just let me sleep.” The man in the room with me slurred. “For a little more longer.” His words not fully making sense. I turned and looked at him, wondering how long it would take him to realize he wasn’t at home in bed, under his comfortable sheets, waiting for his wife to wake him up. I kept looking at him, studying his face. He wasn’t a handsome person, or even moderately good looking, his hair was of mess of black curls, well his chin had a light stubble, so it appeared he hadn’t shaved in a few days. And he smelled terrible, maybe it was the room, but personally he was not an appealing person to be stuck with. “Where, who, what are you doing in my room?” He said, his words mixing even more. I just shrugged in his general direction. I didn’t know what I was doing here. “This is not, where are we?” He must have been waking up more, since his sentence had made more sense to me this time. “I thought you might know.” I said.) I assume you have a much stronger voice now with your writing since it’s been eight months, but I highly recommend just letting the reader know more of what is going on. It makes things less confusing, and your able to fall into the story more. If this is YA I suggest studying a lot of YA books with the same general ideas as you. That way you get a picture of what you want your own work to sound like. But other than that I think it has a lot of potential and just keep working on it. Writing is a game, you get better at it the more you play. Force yourself to write every day, you will see improvement, watch more movies and read more books as well. Trust me it works.
How do you stay in one perspective (first, second, third)? I usually start with one perspective, but i feel like some scenes work better in a different one.
I am 12 and am writing a book currently. I have dropped many ideas before but now I am going to do this. I am going to write this book and self publish it. This book is actually my second project since I have a bigger one in hand the main project is going to be a novel series (fantasy). The book I am currently writing is like a start for me because I think I should and NEED to learn more before I can write the novel series just because I think the series won’t come out good with no practice. I have had first drafts for different books since age 10-11, I think? Thank you for your inspiration I hope I can one day complete my first book and publish it.
omg, I'm the 500th like aaaaaaahh. Anyway, I'm two years late but I wanted to say I'm really inspired by you and I like to watch your videos to gain motivation. And seeing you accomplish something so big makes me want to do the same. Very proud of you and your accomplishments keep going :)
@@MelTorrefranca I am also on a process of writing my second book "Walking in Victory" but really don't know how the publishing process goes,, the first book looks like a notebook LOL,,, as I personally print the copies and book bind them together hahahha
Hi! Im currently writing a novel. Its a young adult fantasy fiction novel! do you have tips? But I was thinking to do the first draft in nano should I? but I get distracted and have like 20 projects at a time
Mel Torrefranca you’re welcome 😇 and thanks 🙏.. you really inspired me to try writing, after watching your video... I’ve always wanted to write a book..but I was waiting to improve my English level to give it a shot..thanks again..
i have a question: What publishing company did u use to publish the book? KDP? Is KDP good to use in 2020? If u could answer this it would be wonderful
I corrected grammar through a series of drafts, but my biggest typo catcher was when I printed out my book in paper form and edited by hand. It won’t be in book format until it’s time to publish.

There are trade-offs to all of them. Try to choose the one that's the best fit for your story *most* of the time
