Took me a while to really get into depop but now it’s basically the only place I shop! What I tend to do is search for specific items or brands, and then look through the items that come up from the search and also follow shops where those items are from. I don’t know if that helps, but for me I don’t really scroll depop’s main page (of the shops I follow), I tend to search for specific items/brands and then like the ones I kinda want to keep my eye on, and save the ones I would actually buy so I have a buying Wishlist I can always refer back to. Definitely stick with it and keep searching for stuff! :) for me, it’s great bc it’s a way to sometimes buy stuff from fast fashion brands but without buying it from the brand themselves, and I’m taking it off someone who doesn’t want to wear it anymore so I feel like it’s slightly less bad. Nowadays if I see something on ASOS or Topshop etc I’m now in the habit of not buying from them at all and seeing if someone on depop is selling the exact same thing or something super similar or even better! Hope this wasn’t too ramble-y and hope this helps! (Also I suggest you messaging the seller asking for more info on the item before buying it, like you can ask for dimensions, quality of the fabric etc and I also try to bundle items for a better price or just sometimes straight up ask if their price is negotiable! Ok I’m done 😊)
I use to love a good haul but i recommend lex crouchers latest video on hauls, fast fashion ain't cool! (saying that, i love the pieces and video still)
laura alice fast fashion is buying cheap and trendy clothes very frequently. lucy is creating capsule wardrobes and investing in quality pieces to last. so it’s not exactly an accurate comparison with this haul. hauls aren’t inherently about fast fashion
this summer i cleared out my wardrobe and was super honest with myself about things i actually liked, wore, and felt comfortable with. I thrifted and filled in the gaps for things that I needed/wanted, but only if the it was ABSOLUTELY what i wanted and felt comfortable in and would actually wear. Now, I find myself being able to put together outfits that i love so easily everyday and i haven’t boughten a new piece of clothing since i cleared out my wardrobe. i feel like i dont need anything because i already own it or i have something similar! life is great in the fashion department rn.
I've had vegan Dr Martens for nearly a year and a half (not the same model, I got the 1461 in black), I've worn them A LOT and they still look and feel really good, they will definitely last for a very long time, for anyone wondering. (Also, I barely had to break them in, compared to the real leather 1460 ones I've had before, they were really comfy from the beginning, might be just because of my feet but thought it was worth mentioning)
I have the 1460 for a year now. I have worn them so often and I’m wearing them nearly daily now that temperature went down. But they are still so uncomfortable and I would get blisters if I didn’t wear two pairs of socks 😭 and they are definitely the right size. I have some not vegan ones and no problem with them. I don’t know why
You can wash the uniqlo cashmere in the machine. Wool program, cold water, maximum 400 cycle, let it dry flat on some towels 👌 and only use liquid wool detergent or Baby shampoo. Works like a charm.
The Vegan docs have GREAT life span! I’ve had mine since 2012 and they are still going strong. I’ve got two scuff marks and worn down some the sole, but that’s fine for shoes that have gone hiking, been used for everyday wear, and worn during 13 hour event work. I probably won’t repurchase for another 2 or so years.
Small waist big bum pride! Honestly such a struggle with buying skirts or anything tight. You're basically the tall version of me so these videos are very helpful and interesting!
Buying on depop is actually a great idea if you prefer sustainable fashion - as most items on it are vintage and often amazing quality. I love oh saint vintage, its a new shop but the pieces are great!
i get where you're going and it's a process i'm still in it but uniqlo, pretty little thing and & other stories really arent the best :') but if you can really stretch the items it should be fine, i love the pieces you picked. i hope i can find my additions to autumn winter wardrobe soon
A new wardrobe isn't needed every season, individual style is much more interesting than on trend anyway. With planning and layering then far fewer items are needed. This is not capsule, it is my clothes collection. And fast fashion is not a slow transition, it is a buying choice. Long lasting is still having clothes from a decade ago and just wearing them in a different way. Being creative is fun!
@Nicole I most definitely don't speak from a point of privilege, that is why I still wear much of the same clothes as I did a decade ago. I couldn't afford to spend that much on clothes in a year, fast fashion or not. I do think zero waste is pretty much impossible but changing where you buy stuff isn't difficult. Just don't go to the fast fashion shops. I buy and spend very little but make wise, good quality, ethical choices when I do. To hammer the privilege point home I am unable to work because of chronic health problems but chose not to get benefits so others in more need can, as my husband earns just enough for us to get by with nothing left at the end of the month.
im on my second pair of docs, the original are a harder leather so you do have to wear them for a couple of days/ do a decent amount of walking in them before they break in properly but after that they last for years!
I think it depends on where do you live. If you live in a country with four very different seasons you need to have different things to wear. I guess she's just entering the process. :)
your dark hair looks great! loved the blonder hair too but it is nice to have darker hair for winter, i always feel. how did you choose the color? it's such a lovely deep brown
number 1 : you look beaut in this number 2: that 90s top is the best thing number 3: I love the darker hair on you number 4: I'd totally be here for a lookbook sometime number 5: Luce is such a cute nickname number 6: OMG I WANT DOCS BUT OMG THEY ARE EXPENSIVE
i love this haul! also for anyone wondering how to figure out if your clothes are sustainable theirs this app called good on you that will tell you how sustainable clothing brands are based on a rating system. its really helped my journey in trying to become more sustainable
lucy and yak are a great uk company who are very transparent about their business practices - they do boiler suits and dungarees! they're also quite affordable, i'd definitely check them out :)
Did you get a bigger size for the heat tech top? I bought it in my normal size and it is completly see through. 😅🙈 Or do you wear something underneath.
In depop I just see who started following me, if I like their shop I follow them and then I always go to their likes to see if I can find someone I like
BTW I had docs that I thought had never broken in properly, and then had the recent brain wave of adding insoles, and now they're perfect! So if you haven't already tried that it may work?
oh also, don't forget to check what the clothes are made out of. fabrics like polyacryl, polyester, acryl or any other plasticy materials shouldn't go over 50% for the sake of quality, washability and transpiration.
I don’t live in the uk BUT the best uk depop shops I’ve seen are liberty mai and matilda mai(I think usernames like liberty.mai and the same for her sister) and they have a lot of stuff and you can find other items when you scroll down in the similar items category on a piece!💛 they are also on Instagram for reference
What type of dr martens did you have before? My old ones are completely worn out and I’m looking at new styles, but I don’t want to buy ones that don’t break in.
hey Lucy, I really like all of your videos, but I just looked up sisterhood, and all of their stuff, I mean at least the dress you showed and a blouse I was acctually interested in buying is polyester... I don't think anything polyester can be named sustainable fashion, not to mention that it's sweaty, not environmentally-friendly and simply not nice to wear in general :(
@@littlemusic4x exactly, plastic clothing has a much shorter lifespan. I have a wool cardigan from Laura Ashley that my mum bought me when I was 10..... I am 35 now. It still fits and it's beautiful.
That jumper sounds great but few people have the opportunity to get such a sweater. It would probably wouldn't be appropriate for professional outfits and you can't just wear one sweater all the time. I feel personally comfortable getting a few items in the best (ethical) quality that I can afford so my clothes last longer and I won't need too purchase new ones next season. Getting cashmere jumpers 2nd hand is also a great option. And I bet none of us a perfect :)

ugh i'm a student so high-quality and sustainable is out of the window. second hand is hard if you sre looking for very specific stuff. i barely have any clothes and now i realised that since moving to uni and having to dry my clothes, a lot got to small, so i have to get new stuff and then find a different solution. annoying. i don't have enough money.
I want to buy more sustainable clothing, but I have to be honest, the comments on this video are really discouraging. Buying natural fabrics is far better for the environment than synthetic fabrics like polyester, which don't break down and can release microplastics into waterways when they are washed. I love your capsule wardrobe hauls. It really gives me a good idea of what to put in my wardrobe but being conscious of what i buy as well.
