Serious question, though. Who else thinks the Combat Shotgun is stupidly OP in Call of Duty: WWII? And you can grab the Harley Benton FanFret-7 2017 DLX from Thomann here: bit.ly/2FfPVrH
Definitely not the comment I expected to see. 😂 but they toned it back a little bit with the latest patch. I haven’t played it since PUBG came to Xbox though.
Looool. Nah shotguns aren't op at all. None of them. Don't sprint around corners, and you'll be fine. First one to buy me one of those gets a boring home made cookie
I think the semi automatic aka the brecci 3.0 is worse because, well, it's a two shot kill and semi automatic. At least the combat shotgun still has a good bit of air between the shots
I normally suck at CoD, but with the combat shotgun I'm actually pulling a positive K/D. That's how I know it's stupidly OP lol. Thanks for watching, dude!
I'm glad you mentioned how important the nut is to tuning stability. I feel a lot of people go and replace tuners that are perfectly fine when the nut is actually the problem.
I just think of them as a 6 string with an extra string, makes it easier. Plus after two days of playing my 7, going back to my 6 stringers the necks feel comically small.
Robert Ruiz I have a similar feeling. After playing my new bass, my guitars feel like coming back home. You don’t need to stretch your fingers so much and the neck shape is so familiar…
@@mediumtalented9250 Same but the 7 fixed my problems. It's nice to play with a drop tunning without leaving standard tunning it makes things alot easier.
Light Yagmai I bought mine about 2wks ago in the 7 string and it rocks man! I love the titan pickups they are really percussive sounding, and the satin grey with the maple binding loves amazing. Trust me you will love it
I've had one aswell and the pickups are garbage indeed. But then again - what would you expect? Mine had a superb setup aswell, but tuning stability issues and to me, the neck profile was just too chunky and had nothing in common with a thin wizard Ibanez neck (at least my impression). Great review and pretty funny asking people's opinion who don't have a clue about guitars :D Also the pickups being soapbars doesn't give you much choice in replacing them, however their 2018 models have passive mount (normal) pickups which is a great improvement.
You would know better than me, this is definitely more your style guitar than mine lol. The neck seems pretty similar in chunk to the Jake Bowen I just got in, so that was my basis haha. As for pickups I think most of the actives come in soapbar form right? I hope so, they have to go! P.S. Your gear reviews rock!
I think Seymour Duncan makes some Soapbar shaped passive pickups, but what I've been wondering is if the lowest string sounds out right, like since it doesn't exactly look like if the hidden magnet poles are effective enough for the string? and the 2018 models have slanted passive mount pickups, so they might not actually be too easy to find....
Robert's Guitar Dungeon this guitar has bunch of tuning issues/nut issues and the tuners need to be replaced. If you're saving for a Majesty. I suggest you get the majesty.
You are dissapointed you are gonna have to replace the pickups in a budget guitar.. ? Do you understand the contradiction and the fact that electronics are usually one of the low points in budget range guitars. The construction and features are fantastic for that price range so its not really a surprise that pickup and electronics would need an upgrade. You wont get £/$100-200 pickups in a $300 guitar dude. Come on, be reasonable.
Ive got 99 euro tuners on my 160 euro b stock guitar. The electronics were rosswel humbuckers with pul switch which is probably 50 and other stuff on IT. Its possible.
I LOVE that Harley Benton is putting out these guitars at such affordable prices, but I'm not sure why they wouldnt just put better pickups in and adjust the price accordingly. Either way, youre turning me into a fan of HB, Agu!
Great review! I was wondering, if when demonstrating pickups on a guitar, you could play all those great riffs, but in addition, hit a chord and hold it for a few seconds? That would give us an idea of the decay of the instrument (without a compressor, of course).
I have one of those and is my "go to" guitar (the only one I am playing actually) and it's a very great guitar for the price: it just has all the right specs for the money. I swapped the bridge pickup for a Seymour Duncan Blackout neck (yes, a neck pup in the bridge) and it sounds amazing now with tons of clarity and not too much output (I don't like pickups with lots of output). My only complain is ONE high fret: the 15th fret is a bit high but c'mon... for the price is just impossible to get a better 7 in Europe.
I find that if you add a simultaneous clean amp channel on a DAW with its volume reduced by a lot it adds a nice amount of bass to a mid focused amp sim on a different channel
just got a HB CST-24T in emerald flame, waited for about a month as it was the holidays, its just amazing that it sells for 229 usd, stays in tune, the set up out of the box is incredible, and the pickups are not that bad. i had thought that i would change them for some SD, but i don't need to, and it comes with push pull pots. next purchase will likely be a extended range. For the 2018 model they changed the pickups to fix what you pointed out in the video.
Dude fuck yea, do more Harley Benton stuff. I'm planning to get the 8 string version of this guitar, it'd be cool to see you rewiev that one. Also loved the song you wrote for this one, keep it up!
Yeah I played a Jackson fanned 7 string at my local music store once. I tuned it down to drop A and I just messed around with it for a while. I couldn’t exactly do the shredy power chord thing that I like to do with normal 6 strings in something like drop D at first but I figured it out. I mean I mostly just play the first 6 strings and added the low A to make weird power chords. It was fun I might save up and pick up one of these Harley Bentons.
Damn those pups sound sweet, surprised, the weakness didn't translate through the video. I'm going to get me one of these, never played a 7 string never player a fanned fret, so that's going to me fun :D
I’ve watched several of your videos and you do a great job reviewing instruments. I’ve noticed you have a blue string around the strings above the nut. Does that have a particular purpose?? Keep up the good work!! Rock on!!
I hear Harley Benton are not to bad of guitars. Is this true and what do you think of the tuning and the pickups and fret work please as I am thinking about buying one?
Hey man, I was just wondering what you though about the new Jazz Tele if you got to try it at NAMM. It's out of my price range but I haven't GASed this hard in years, and that's coming from a strictly 8 string HH guy. Also, general thoughts on Jazzmasters? I'm thinking about picking one up but, for such an iconic guitar, there really aren't that many options out there and it seems like people swap out almost all of the hardware on even the MIM models.
Hey Hunter, you mention a .009 string potentially being a problem at 27" scale length. I have heard (although cannot confirm) that strings of differing gauges actually break at similar pitches, a .011 string for example is gonna be stronger but also higher tension at a given pitch than a .009. I would recommend next time you have a long scale guitar around that you try a .0085 on the first string, it might be fluke but I have a 25.5" scale guitar tuned up to F# standard, and a couple of guitars at around 29" for the first string (standard tuning) and initially I put .009s on them, but those broke with relatively little use. I replaced them with .0085 and those are lasting just fine so I'm thinking that the .0085 is just a bit better on the tension/pitch/strength ratio
Thank you for the great review, i'm getting one of these as well! What tuning are you using in this video? Also, what string gauge would you recommend? I'm going for Drop G# and i'm not sure about the right string gauge.
The 2018 has different pickups. They're offset, exposed-pole pickups rather than the older straight, EMG-form pickups. I don't know if they sound better, but one of the guys on the FB Harley Benton forum got one and he loves the way it sounds.
None taken at all dude! 7-strings to me almost feel like a different instrument so they bring out a different type of riffage for sure. I only started playing them about 9 months ago so I'm actually pumped to hear that I don't completely suck on them lol
I have the 6 strings version of this guitar and it's amazing. But i'd like to swap the pickups, but the damn things are ANGLED and not emg sized... And i just realized no one sells passive angled pickups, and i don't really have the money to go custom shop. Any suggestions ?
You can always rout the body to accept normal pickups. Or just wait a bit, pickups will hit the stores eventually. Why not change magnet to Alnico 8 or Neodymium?
There are some angled pickups out there. you just have to look. SD, for example, has a few offset pickup configurations, as do DiMarzio and BareKnuckle.
What are your thoughts on the Jackson X Series Dinky 7 string fanned fret? I just got one not long ago and am liking it, but as a beginner i have had to stop using my six strings because the fret difference throws me off when I go back and forth.
I wonder if these pickups can be dismantled just like regular passive pickups, I mean removing baseplate and so on. Replacing the magnets with neodymium could make it sound pretty good, those magnets are super strong so you do not need high DCR to have output.
Nice, been looking at their 8-string fan-frets, seems like they are pretty much the same but with one extra string. Solid review, dude! I love Ibanez, and would love to at least try their new 8-string fan-fret, but seems like Harley Benton can do a very good job for just about $100 cheaper! I'd probably repaint the Ibanez, but the HB look really cool! Decision, decisions! Edit: I also really love the segment with your roommate! They are great for reviews and a few laughs.
Good on HB for using wilkinson pickups, surprised they didn't use them in more guitars, though I don't know if they make any soapbar 7 pickups. Maybe they could even use some entwistle in future models....that would have them giving double and triple price guitars a run for their money on all fronts instead of having a weak point in the pickups.
We had a jam session last night and the guy playing guitar had a PRS he paid over $1000 for, I have several Harley Benton guitars and he liked them better than the PRS he had. In fact he played the prs clone Harley Benton almost all night and put his disappointed PRS back in its case. I just ordered this 7 string last see what's thought of it. My opinion Harley Benton guitars are rock solid and a killer guitar regardless of the low cost.
Ah, I see you’ve gone back to putting your amp settings in the description. I noticed recently that some of your newer videos don’t have your amp settings in the description. And now that I have Bias on my phone I can dial in your tones.
HB ftw! Just got my Tele and it's great! Great video man, tbh from the track I thought the pickups sounded pretty decent, obviously in person that could be a different story
Digitech with a 6, definitely. They feel like different instruments to me, and I'm still more comfortable with a 6. The thick 7-string neck still feels a little unnatural.
I've been thinking about remedying the weak pickup problem (which my 2018 model also has) by putting another ceramic magnet underneath the current magnet to possibly make it hotter, or finding some neodymium, any thoughts on possible results?
Hey Hunter, I don't know if you are aware but I just recently found out that SLAAYEERRRR!! is calling it quits, announcing one final tour before disbanding. They posted a teaser video about it on their channel.
He said headstock and I was like "Right on, Simon!" Now from an economical standpoint, is there any reason not to get the 8 string fanned fret over this one?
I'm not sure what you mean by economical standpoint.. like money-wise? More range for the money? Even the 7-string neck feels much wider than a 6-string (it almost feels like a different instrument to me) so I can only imagine an 8 lol.
Yeah, I agree. Kind of. Mine wasn't as good as yours, unfortunately. It needed a lot of fretwork, the back of the headstock was rough and poorly sanded, and the nato stripes on the neck felt rough as well. I changed the pickups with some Lace blade-style pickups, sanded the neck and headstock, upgraded the electronics (new pots and caps), and redid the frets. Unfortunately, that meant that I spend as much on fixing the guitar as I did on the guitar itself.
Maybe, but it was too much of a hassle sending it overseas. Instead, I kept it as a project. The other Harley Benton I got at the time, a CST-24T, was in much better shape.
L3AF sorry, but the Ibanez 7 strings are a much better value than this Harley Benton. Check out Arnold Plays Guitar's review on the 8 string version and you'll understand
Serious question, though. Who else thinks the Combat Shotgun is stupidly OP in Call of Duty: WWII?
And you can grab the Harley Benton FanFret-7 2017 DLX from Thomann here: bit.ly/2FfPVrH
Agufish It's like they made all the other shotguns so freaking underpowered and just buffed the combat shotty to the max.
I gave up on CoD after BO2
Definitely not the comment I expected to see. 😂 but they toned it back a little bit with the latest patch. I haven’t played it since PUBG came to Xbox though.

Does Thomann provide a cat with these? If so I'm sold
the cat is the only reason why I'm here and I'm subscribed
Eey Thomann got a question. How many months do the shipping take if you're gonna ship outside Europe?
let's not talk about the combat shotgun, still haven't recovered from getting trashed over and over again by it. awesome review, love the content!
I normally suck at CoD, but with the combat shotgun I'm actually pulling a positive K/D. That's how I know it's stupidly OP lol. Thanks for watching, dude!
I'm glad you mentioned how important the nut is to tuning stability. I feel a lot of people go and replace tuners that are perfectly fine when the nut is actually the problem.

plz do more Harley Bentons!!
RacoonWarfare54 I agree, they are great cheap guitar. For example the sg custom type guitar was great as well as the les paul😃
Harley Benton also make an 8-string fanfret. I'd like to see you rocking one of those! \m/
I've been wanting to try those out too! Seems like a solid way to get into 8-string guitar
I swear you are like everywhere

Hey I was wondering if you could show us how to tie those hair ties as string mutes, I cant quite get the hang of it
i check every night before bed waiting for the Jake Bowen Sig video lol.....the wait is real

MERCENARY FOR HIRE yea I've been waiting forever lol

sold, def buying this very soon.

Good video Hunter. I’ve been curious about the Harley Benton stuff myself, but I’m currently saving my pennies for a Musicman Majesty.
Robert's Guitar Dungeon this guitar has bunch of tuning issues/nut issues and the tuners need to be replaced.
If you're saving for a Majesty.

Thanks dude! Canon T3i for the main camera and still shots, then a Canon Vixia RF500 for the close ups and moving b-roll.

Hey Hunter, you mention a .009 string potentially being a problem at 27" scale length. I have heard (although cannot confirm) that strings of differing gauges actually break at similar pitches, a .011 string for example is gonna be stronger but also higher tension at a given pitch than a .009.

Great review! Got to see what i'm after! Ordering the 2018 Edition when it comes back in stock!
The 2018 has different pickups. They're offset, exposed-pole pickups rather than the older straight, EMG-form pickups. I don't know if they sound better, but one of the guys on the FB Harley Benton forum got one and he loves the way it sounds.

You can always rout the body to accept normal pickups. Or just wait a bit, pickups will hit the stores eventually.
Why not change magnet to Alnico 8 or Neodymium?
hugues pinaud or you could go with Lace alumitones. The X bars and deathbuckers come in many nominal sizes
You can look up the pick-ups Which come in ormsby’s
There are some angled pickups out there. you just have to look. SD, for example, has a few offset pickup configurations, as do DiMarzio and BareKnuckle.
Barenuckle will make some angled ones. Probably. If you phone them and have deep pockets.

Yo Hunter! When do you make a video about a Mark Morton signature? They look and sound awesome! And you said that you like LOG
I wonder if these pickups can be dismantled just like regular passive pickups, I mean removing baseplate and so on. Replacing the magnets with neodymium could make it sound pretty good, those magnets are super strong so you do not need high DCR to have output.

I'm not sure what you mean by economical standpoint.. like money-wise? More range for the money? Even the 7-string neck feels much wider than a 6-string (it almost feels like a different instrument to me) so I can only imagine an 8 lol.
Check out Cory Mura's channel. There's a fanned-fret, 7 string, SC-shaped guitar in the works!
Would like to see your guitar collection.
You should try out 10 springs 20 string guitar
How do you afford all these guitars?
Yeah, I agree. Kind of. Mine wasn't as good as yours, unfortunately. It needed a lot of fretwork, the back of the headstock was rough and poorly sanded, and the nato stripes on the neck felt rough as well.
I changed the pickups with some Lace blade-style pickups, sanded the neck and headstock, upgraded the electronics (new pots and caps), and redid the frets. Unfortunately, that meant that I spend as much on fixing the guitar as I did on the guitar itself.
Damn, tough luck. If there was really a need for big fretwork, you probably should have sent it back
Maybe, but it was too much of a hassle sending it overseas. Instead, I kept it as a project. The other Harley Benton I got at the time, a CST-24T, was in much better shape.
Hey, there is a TE-7 FanFret guitar by Harley Benton) Waiting for your review on it))
Have you ever tried the Harley Benton R-457? If not, I’d love to see you review it. The white looks outstanding.
I tried one at Thomann and hated it lol
Agufish thanks, have you also tried the SC custom and SC1000 Progressive?
Agufish was it just the pickups that you didn’t like?
Holy hell this is cheap to be a 7 string mabye i will give 7 string a try before i go for an expensive ibanez 7 string :D
Great video as always agu
L3AF sorry, but the Ibanez 7 strings are a much better value than this Harley Benton.
Check out Arnold Plays Guitar's review on the 8 string version and you'll understand
What kind of pick ups would you use to replace the stock pick ups?
Probably Fishman Abasi or Carpenter pickups. I'm curious how they compare to the Moderns. EMGs are always a good choice too!
Awsome !!! Love it
Could you measure neck thickness at 1st and 12th fret please?
Prototype for single cut fanned fret 7 string incoming.
