    Maybe this is way offside, but can the DR4088LN ext88N cable go through an ethernet switch (like D-Link offers) that is connected to the DR5000 ext88N port?

    Very helpful. Thank you. Is there a recommended gauge of wire for connecting to each block?

    • @IronPlanetHobbies
      @IronPlanetHobbies  3 роки тому +2

      16 AWG will fit the connectors. I then go to a terminal block which is about 18" away and then go 14 or 12 depending on the distance.

    Great video and information. Two questions from me please. First, as I look at Loconet connections on the LN, is the one on the left going back to the command station? …where does the one on the right attach (to a throttle)?
    Second, (only because there is a lot of red wire in your video), on the 4088 ‘C’ or common connections of each device, are you inputting both ‘C’ sides with the same positive or negative power input, or just one ‘C’ side for all 16?

      The "C" inputs can be used by either 1 or 2 different booster inputs. If only using 1, then just loop the wire from one "C" to the other. The 8 sections are isolated. Yes, one of the LN ports goes back to the T side of the command station and the other goes on to the next module or a throttle. The LocoNet can be daisy chained but not connected in a circle.

    Hiya, how do I set up these in the z21 app showing detection?

    • @IronPlanetHobbies
      @IronPlanetHobbies  2 роки тому

      I don't use the Z21 app very often so I can't say for sure. I think it is setup just like any other block detector using either LocoNet or S88N.

    when the dr4088 is connected directly to the dr5000 can it be controlled with traincontroller gold? or do i need to buy the 4088LN?

    • @IronPlanetHobbies
      @IronPlanetHobbies  6 років тому

      The DR4088 can be connected directly with the S88N. Yes, it will work with Traincontroller.

    Hi there am I right in assuming the 4088opto can be used for monitoring reed switches? How is that unit set up for that type of feed back please? If it’s s88 then is it setup in the same way as you describe in this video

    • @IronPlanetHobbies
      @IronPlanetHobbies  5 років тому

      Yes, you can use reed switches with the OPTO. The feedback can be sent via S88 or there is also a LocoNet & R Bus version. The connections are a bit different but the feedback reporting is the same. Here is the link to the setup. support.digikeijs.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001762217-DR4088-Manuals

    good vid.
    can you also explain how to setup multiple DR4088CS directly trough the DR5000 ( without DR4088LN)?

    • @IronPlanetHobbies
      @IronPlanetHobbies  6 років тому +2

      You bet, Just daisy chain the devices to the ext88N port. Then on the compture app, go to the ext88N tab. Set the number of S88N boards. Drop down to the Number of Contacts and fill that in. Add 16 for each board. Then select the your first contact number. Usaully a 1 works fine. Check the Report All Contacts box. That should get you going. If you have any other questions just let me know.

    Hi Mate, Considering you've rather renown across the internet for being the go to guy of Dijikeijs products I figured I'd ask you a quick question, I'm using a DR4088LN and DR4088, Connected via ethernet cable. I'm also running a Digitrax Zephyr (DSC51) + A DCC Concepts Alpha Box and Alpha power. The issue I keep running across is, The moment I plug the loconet cable into the DR4088LN it starts going off saying it's detecting something on a block even with every single connection unplugged....However the other DR4088 seems to be working fine and reports back correctly when the loco is passing the blocks of that track. Any idea's for someone who's tearing his hair out? Thank you so very much for your videos so far
