Shade netting for your greenhouse - How & Why.

- As the sun reaches ever higher into the summer sky there is a risk of our botanical beauties overheating inside of our greenhouses. Shade netting is a fantastically fast and affordable way to easily protect your precious plants and keep your greenhouse cool in the summer months.
Shade netting comes in many grades, each with a varying ability to block out a set percentage of the suns rays. Which grade of shade netting fabric you use will completely depend on the environment you are hoping to create inside of your greenhouse.
Shade netting is easy to fit to most greenhouses, be they wooden framed or aluminium. Some gardeners choose to throw the netting over the outside of their greenhouses, others choose to fix it to the inside of their greenhouse.
I’ve chosen to fit my shade netting inside my greenhouse and in this video I show you how I installed my shade netting as well as how it has worked for me over the past couple of weeks.

I like your greenhouse shading!!! Thanks!
No problem, it works really well 👍😀🪴
Thank for sharing 😊👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you
Very helpful video thank you! That gold spotted Farfugium is so beautiful
Thanks for watching! I love my Farfugium too 🥰
Hey It's mosquito proof
I’m honored to be the 69th like on this video. I love that you kept it real and gave actual answers most of these videos aren’t very helpful. Good shit Brodie
No worries, thanks for watching 👍
I’ve been looking for this. It gets to 45C often where I live. But I want to be able to take the shade off during winter. Thank you so much.
No problem at all 😄👍
Brilliant thank you ! I now know what the funny little grey 'prongs' all over the greenhouse are for :) Moved late last yr and acquired this greenhouse so learning a lot - they twist right out of the glazing bar grooves (who knew!) and I can now get some shade net and secure it because it's south facing and some days already is at 30 degrees in there with door and window vents open. I assumed they were glazing spacers or something odd as there are so many of them & I have banged my head on a couple too Thanks again & thank you from my plant babies - happy gardening.🌼🌸❀✿🌷
No problem! Is it your first greenhouse? I've only had mine a couple of years and I LOVE it 😂
@@GrowParadise Yes it was here at the new place when I moved, never had one before only the mini ones with the zipped covers, I absolutely love it aren't they fab but they get so hot! I've packed it full of staging and shelves haha think I got a bit carried away :) I still bring a lot in the house on a night time though just in case, lucky to have the space here to do that.
Thks. Hope I can find nearby.
Thanks for watching :D
I have been given a bottle of that white liquid you paint on the glass, wonder how that compares with using shade netting
Very helpful videos. I love trying to grow most of my plants from seed in my cheap pop up greenhouse lol. If im lucky i get 1 or 2 to sprout. Keep seeing your farfigium and been looking for one for about 9 month now. You any ideas where i could find one online.
I sell them from time to time, I will definitely have a few available later on this year 👍🌱 nothing wrong with a pop up greenhouse, I once did work for a restaurant that used to grow food for the menu in a tiny pop up greenhouse!
@@GrowParadise just checked ebay on the off chance and....wooohoooo farfugium japonicum aureomaculatum. What a coincidence lol
Lovely music! Wish I had a greenhouse to put shade netting in ... no more room unfortunately.
No more room but your garden is looking great 👌🌿🌱🪴
@@GrowParadise Thank you Craig
its 27th march and im here as went to my new greenhouse and its 30degrees already. may have to shade soon
They heat up quickly when the sun comes out 😁
Thsnks for the video on greenhouse shade. I was wondering what you thought about whether it would be okay to just put / drapea a length of shade cloth over the outside of a green house?¿? Would prevent the full strength of the 🌞 hitting the glass and also make for an easier / tidy fitment. Just weigh it down at either side to stop it from blowing in the wind 🤔
That would work but keeping it in place in windy days might be difficult.
Going to custom fit shade netting on outside , using green bungy cord to keep it taut , all fitted on small 🪝 cut to size and using the shade netting clips available on Ebay to make a tidy cover that is removable for widow cleaning🙂 Over heating is a major problem when the heat waves arrive and also leaf scorch. Just finding the time to do this with everything else I have to do 🤔
That sounds like a good solution. 👍
Is that a heavy type of bubble wrap on your green house? Like the idea of the shade material to.
Yes, it is UV protected to stop it decaying. I have another video all about the bubble wrap 👍
Hi. Going back to your video 1 year ago, propagating euphorbia, what's the best month to propagate euphorbia? Thanks. Hoping a reply on this query.
Hello, I’d say summer is pretty good as they will have finished flowering 👍
Just curious why you have bubble wrap up in summer? Thanks
Hi Harold, not sure if you missed the part of the video where I explain this 😀 I’ve seen lots of other exotic plant growers leave their bubblewrap all summer with the addition of shade netting. It should simply act like double glazed windows, helps keep warm in the winter and keep cool in the summer. Thanks for watching! 👍😀🌱🌴
@@GrowParadise interesting thanks
Did having both bubble wrap and netting work out for you?
Worked really well, temps never got over 28 degrees C, even on the hottest days. 😃
@@GrowParadise Thank you. I live in the Pacific Northwest (WA). I thank you for your answer.
If you don't believe in Jesus... now is a very good time. He is coming soon.
April 9, 2021, before going to bed, my vision went black for a quick moment, and then I saw in gold letters: Thus saith the Lord. About four hours later, April 10, during my sleep I heard: Prophet. Tell them I am coming soon. Maybe 3-5 min after that, at 12:35 AM, our area had a small earthquake registering 3.1.
Much love ♥
Hello Plant Nerds :)
Howdy!
Is your greenhouse a Rhino?
